The idea is to make a bunch of preset chat phrases in a drop-down menu when you left-click on the chat so you don't have to waste time typing in the phrases and so not helping your team.

The chat is there to communicate with others, quite obvious.

In esports, people often use voice chat for the same purpose.
Voice chat makes it easy to quickly convey a message without having to type it down.

Now, not all battles are esports battles, so not in every battle people use voice chat.

A way that this problem is often fixed, is by using a quick chat.

Quick chat will replace the current battle chat.

The main lobby chat will remain unchanged.

How does quick chat work?

Quick chat is yet another way to communicate with your teammates. You bind a hotkey to open the quick chat menu, and then you select a pre-set message. The message is displayed in the chat. There are two types of messages. One type being messages that will only display in the team chat, and the other type being the public messages. There could also be an optional third type. This type being the "rage" message. It will not be displayed to anyone, except to yourself. Just because it sometimes feels good to swear :). In the settings, there will be a menu to adjust the pre-set messages to suit your desires. If a player spams a message, he will be either warned or banned for flooding. Each message consists of a piece of code. The code will display the message translated into the recipients game language.

What are the positives of quick chat?

- A player does not have to type a message himself. All messages are pre-set, and can be changed in the quick chat tab in

  the settings menu.

- As people will no longer be able to manually type a message in a battle, it will become impossible to

commit any form of verbal text harassment.

- People from different nationalities will be able to communicate with each other.

- As each message is pre-set, it appears as fluent sentences in all the games languages.

What are the negatives of quick chat?

- People will no longer be able to say whatever they want.

Conclusion.

I reckon that it will be a good change, that has to be made. The current system doesn't always have a purpose. 50% is in a foreign language, for example Arabic, 40% is some trash talk by angry people, and the other 10% is broken English that you still can't understand. With the new system, everyone will be able to understand any other person in the battle. As I mentioned before, the messages will be fluent sentences, so it won't take 5 minutes to figure out what a person means.

I can assure you that this "quick chat" will never actually replace the game chat. I've seen games where this is implemented (e.g. Club Penguin) and I'm telling you - that kind of environment feels so constricting that it doesn't feel like you're even talking to real people anymore. The normal chat must stay, and I would rather be forced to encounter vulgar language and people I don't understand than not being able to say what I want at all.

But nothing is stopping it from co-existing with the normal chat.

Planned

Developers have this planned for a future update after the matchmaking system, although there is no guarantee that this will be done.

Players need a Instead chat command list where clicking that would be posted in chat with bright colors.

Example.

in battle clicking the drop down list and selecting Attack ! will be posted in chat stating " Attack ! "

there be commands like Snipe , Defense, and a Community radio be awesome.

Community radio will produce sounds like Attack, and giving advertisements regarding discounts or upcoming events and news. I know a panel is introduced, but it could be awesome if we turn the game Realistic.

Should we laggers actually use skype for communication ?

should be really talk with strangers for a battle ?

Radio could be awesome and a Radio Pass can be introduced where it can be used for clan leaders to announce events. They can write the statements they want to and it will be announced by the system in radio for clan members.

they can set the frequency of the FM.

the voice will be given out by the system in commander's tune.

When you said, "Quick chat wheel", I knew what you were talking about, but I thought you were going to suggest using the wheel on the mouse to activate the chat menu....click the wheel and scroll through the chat choices.

By default, the shift key activates OD. In the settings, this function would have to be reassigned to a different key. If you hit it too many times consecutively, a window pops up asking if you want to activate the sticky keys. I can see, when in battle, you want to select a chat option, but immediately, something else happens. Say, you want to say something about the flag and just as you press the shift key, the enemy enters the base. You release the shift key and accidently activate your OD.

You have to hold shift and use arrows/wasd keys to select one message and leave shift to make it appear in the chat.  :)

Since I use z x c and the arrow keys for control of the tank, I have found that assigning various other functions to w a s d was more convenient. I think using the mouse for chat would be easier. But then, there are those who use the mouse for their turret. For me, I've reassigned OD to the S key, so using shift would be no problem. But those who use w a s d  for tank functions might see reassigning the shift key more of a problem.

Other than these observations, I think a quick chat is a good idea.

Players should be able to choose a battle cry in their settings which they can post using this method. Mine would be: "Take a shower of bullets, noobs!" Default should be something like "Die, enemies!"

Or it could vary based on the turret. Firebird could be "Hudda hudda huddumph!" and Striker could be "Last on alive, lock the door!".

^ You wouldn't be able to tell anyway. Since everyone will be spamming their own battles crys.

Topic - I like this idea but theres no suitable button to do it....  Unless its a letter like d f g h etc.. it would take far longer to do it for example ctrl + 2 than to just type out the sentence

personally I don't really care since I can type fast

Players should be able to customize their battlecry. This would make it more fun.

This idea would just bring Tanki Online one step closer to World of Tanks. Due to that, I cannot support it.

The difference being normal messaging would be possible too.

Not all of the people here are in agreement with you. @matthijskik clearly wanted to completely replace the current battle chat system. And regardless of whether that occurs or not, it will still appear that TO is attempting to copy WoT.

Certainly TO already appears to be copying WOT- MatchMaking etc. have put that opinion forward a lot.

Precisely. Which is why we have to stop this before it goes any further.

I'm not sure 'stopping' this is really possible, but I do think TO should cut down on the change-into-WOT updates, and not implementing this could be a step towards that, except that this is a good idea.
