Forum Date/Time Anomaly

 Share

Recommended Posts

So, I've noticed that the time stamp on a post follows UTC. However a quoted post has a time stamp which follows that of your time zone.

For example, in the screenshot below, Semyon's post is shown to be posted at 15:06 (which is UTC time).

However, when I quote the post, it changes to 20:36 because my timezone is GMT +5:30.

So, I request the forum admins to change one of these (preferably the quoted one to UTC). It any sound minor, but it seriously irritates me a lot and has potential to cause confusion. Thanks!

Yes of course, because you posted. If I post now it will show my local time to everyone.

^ Oye !!  Totally not solved mate!

OP thanks for raising that point.  Its one of the quirks of our forum and has been for quite a while.  Its not really critical, and so we never bothered with it.  It does get fixed with the newer implementations though, rest assured.

In the mean time if the timestamp of one of the quotes of someone bugs you, you can always click on the little arrow on the top right of the quote and it will take you to the original post where you'll have the proper timestamp of that post in the local forum time (UTC +1 I believe).

Its still not a solution, but like I said above, future iterations of our forums won't be having that issue :)
