Bad Idea. Electing leaders is not good, most players will vote for the people they like, but not the people who can lead. Trust me on this one. They may elect someone who is good at battle, and is friendly, but he maybe horrible at leading. In FJ, we made a voting to choose the leader, and they chose someone who lacks the skills of leading (I won't name him) and is not serious, while most of them did not vote for the one who is responsible and wise only because they do not find him online much and he is not good at parkour. It is better to choose leaders by themselves. And here is a tip, do not make it 5 leaders. Make it ranked leaders:

By that, I mean like the leader will have 5 positions. The first leader is equivalent to 3 people, the second leader is equivalent to 2 players, the third is equivalent to 1, and the fourth and fifth together equal to 1. In this way, the first leader can make urgent calls, however, when a large matter is to come, they can vote.

That sounds like an interesting idea. Leadership is always difficult to find because the best leaders never care about being leaders, and the worst leaders always seek out leadership for either fame or power. And then in the last category, when voting, people tend to vote for who they like rather than who would make the right choices. Someone who just makes the decisions people approve of the most is a weak af leader.  :P

At any reate, your idea sounds neat. I don't think the "fourth and fifth together equals 1"  should happen though since they would always need to work together to have a meaningful vote. Also, its demeaning to those people saying that "Your opinion isn't even valuable enough to have a full vote"  :P

So perhaps it would be more like: 4 People have Votes:

  1. Person 1: Has a vote that carries the weight of three.
  2. Person 2: Has a vote that carries the weight of two.
  3. Person 3: Has a vote that carries the weight of two.
  4. Person 4: Has a vote that carries the weight of One and a Half

This way, person 2+3+4 can outvote Person 1, Person 1 carries the most weight and is the main leader, and it's impossible to have a tie. An alternate setup could be if there was a 5th Person had another single vote. This just makes it so that the Leader + anyone would outvote the whole majority, so it could go faster as if the Leader had one motion seconded it could be instantly approved and implemented.

I'm with BlackDrakon. But then, where does that leave all the Cresteds and Talons? I doubt the Talons would exist anymore, considering that there's 3 people to support the main guy now, but then the Cresteds would be a little redundant as well, don't you think?

We coooooooould theoretically have another group, kinda like Congress (I know I know, I'm ripping off the US democratic system. Thing is, that system works well anyways, may as well implement it here) that can veto things if needed. Just saying.

No one becomes leader!

DoS stays even though hes active

But if hes too inactive then we could choose someone from the cresteds or the right talon or left talon dragons could become the substitute leader

until DoS is back

That would be better because I know everyone wants DoS as the leader! And the cresteds are the choice of us that we elected and the talons are of DoSs choice!

So we should just have voting between the cresteds and the talons because we all know that the cresteds are good and they can lead like bosses

So there wont be a big problem of voting and we wont regret it!

What about leting DoS choose himself?

Mannnn

I was gonna say this after saying that

"Guys I have another idea!

And its very easy for us!

Lets let DoS choose himself

I doubt that anyone will doubt DoSs undoubtable tanker to become our leader!"

But my net crashed :(

You win!

What about leting DoS choose himself?

Why can't we just have the system we do now? With the Cresteds and Talons perhaps having more power (being able to make decisions without the leader)?

And here I am trying to adapt to what everyone is saying. ie. Draconic Republic

I personally think staying with the current system would be best, with either DoS or popular vote picking the next leader, but if you guys want something else, go right ahead.

Okay, Change of thoughts....
Lets be rational here, DoS himself said that he is unwilling to lead due to his personal life and the loss that the clan is suffering due to his inactivity. Well, we must agree to him there because it is somewhat true. Being a leader takes alot of time and effort and it seems that DoS is not able to provide it.....
As much as I would like for him to be the leader, I dont see a way. DoS is truly an exceptional leader. He is supportive and has all the required leadership qualities. But, the discussion here is what alternatives we have.

I think the best thing to do here is to do what DoS himself suggested. Let's have a new, trust-worthy and responsible leader. DoS will be the 2nd in Command after that person.
The election for the new leader should not be an open-for-all voting. Rather a group comprising of DoS and any 4 other members should hold a detailed talk. They are to choose 3 people that they think are fit to lead. These 3 chosen ones shall be the nominees for the final election and then WE, the people shall finally elect our new leader.

I also have a few Suggestions. But they should be implemented after all this matter regarding the leadership has been sorted...

I think that we have too many members in the clan and most of them aren't even active. I think that we should start removing these inactive members. DoS (or the new leader) should post on the Forum an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT. It should say that all the active members of the clan are required to PM the leader a note of presence. It should simply state: PRESENT. The Announcement should be made regularly and should be quoted as much as possible so that everyone sees it. After 2 weeks of this action, the members whose Presence has not been confirmed and they do not have an LoA, will be removed from the clan.
Really, I think this has to be done because the members list has been getting out of control lately.... I mean its really really long

After the number of members is reduced, there should be changes in the clan hierarchy.

In my Humble opinion, there shouldnt be any Talon dragons. Instead, there should just be a Second-In-Command. He will have almost the same authority as the Leader, except a few important aspects.

After this, there should be some Crested Dragons (I say, no more than 6). They will also have some Executive powers, but they will be especially specified to some important activities. Such as: Skype Group maintenance, XP/BP Squad and some other important stuff.

Next to this there should be 15 Elder Dragons, who have spent atleast 2 months in the clan, have participated in a war or have made some useful contribution to the clan.

Finally all other members should be included in the Members Category.

Dragonet category should be removed.

Feel free to make any re-adjustments you may want  ;)

Hope that I'm useful for once  ^_^

Guys, relax. The past 4 pages or so have been filled with ideas about how to elect the new leader. It's not a bad thing, in fact, i find it very intruiging :P

But i thought we were focused on the DS.....

I have agreed with: Abbadoom, Extreme and gabriele...

Lets just let DoS choose when he gets the chance to read our spam. This way, there will be no commotion about the new leader and who it should be...

I mean, we don't want to hit 900 pages with THIS sort of spam xD. Im pretty sure we will all be bored by then ;)

@Extreme

Sorry that I cannot reply directly to your ideas, but I have a problem with my laptop so I can't reply directly :P

Anyhoo, I think that there SHOULD be a dragonets section. In fact, everything should remain the same. And you can just talk normally in the forums.. that's still being active.

Dragonets should still be there... My reasoning is because when someone applies, they should be added to the list. This way, the applicant knows that they have been noticed and won't spam our chat with impatience. I'm sure you all understand, as there was a person who recently did it to our clan. Especially when there is something important happening.

P.S:

Is it only the leaders who can change the homepage? Because the upper tier with higher ranks ( e.g. crested ot talons) should be able to add the applicants. But i'm not sure if that's going to work out.

P.P.S:

This doesn't count as talking about the new leader election, right? because that would be ironic based on what i said on my previous.... quote?

To be honest, I'm not sure what "Dragonet" vs "Dragons" vs "Elder Dragons" means in the first place. I don't think we need that, kinda riding off Extreme's idea, I think that we could just have Elder Dragons and Dragons, Elder being any clan member who has participated in one clan battle and been in the clan for 3 months or something like that.

I am a clan leader myself, and I'll just tell you a few qualities + drawbacks to look for.

1. He can enforce the rules and make it clear he's boss but still have the members relate to him. Unlike what Tanki's doing rn In short, he's no pushover but doesn't go overboard and knows the fine line.

2. He can negotiate and compromise

Dealmaking is important for a leader, and really gives them some albiet limited control of outside circumstances. 'Nuff said.

3. He's gotta be liked and trusted

If you trust your leader, you'll do lots better in wars. Promise.

4. He's got to be active

Coming on once a week and posting once a month doesn't help anyone.

im just saying that instead of putting new members in dragonet section, we put them in the dragon section. Then, once they've spent 2 months or have done wars or other contributing work, they move to Elder Dragon category

I just think that dragonet category makes it a bit too crowded.

Agreed with all of them. But of course, all four have to be balanced. You can't have a really likeable leader who can't be any of the other 3, now can we? Or the other way around for that matter.

I can finally directly reply :D But this is on IPad...

I was saying that

Dragonets: Instantly adds the name of an applicant to the homepage in that section. This way, they know that they have been noticed. It is a section where the applicant has neither been approved or disapproved. It avoids unnecessary spam when someone wants to be noticed. It also verifies that crested dragons or talons or leaders can PM an applicant to tell them if they have been accepted

Official fighting playlist (also an appeal to our leader to pump up our clan's morale):

Please be aware that most, if not all, of these songs contain profanities or profane innuendos that aren't suitable for people overly concerned about mere insignificant words.

(removed links)

Hey, please remove those links, as they violate clan/game rules. Thanks!

Application Form

Q1: (UTC + 8)

Q2: Attacker

Q3: Railgun - Hornet

Q4: Rio, Sandbox, madness

Q5: This is my first clan.

Q6: I want to get better in this game and have friends.

Q7: I would try to help all other players with whatever they want from me.

Q8: I don't have skype but i could make 1 if needed.

Q9: I just have 1 account.

Sorry, declined.

Also, DoS, please add Destroer's (I believe that's his name?) name to the Dragonets. He's gotten Crested approval a few pages back and is now waiting. Is behaving well in PMs.

PM me please, I must have missed that application.

Guys, I may be able to stay. That is not a promise, but I think I can be more active then I originally thought. I have big plans for this clan, and I'm not ready to hand over the reins just yet.

Planned changes:

  • Reworking of the clan hierarchy - I'll explain in depth later.
  • Consistent trainings, held only on eSports maps.
  • Finding an effective and free software for voice communication.
