I pronounce it reeco, rick-o sounds weird to me.

I mean when I say Puerto Rico, I pronounce that rico like reeco.

And if someone was called Nicolas, and shortened it to Nico, I would pronounce it neeco and not nick-o :P.

 

(Also I don't get why people say ricochet with a t. I mean, the word in the dictionary is pronounced rik-uh-shay)

Think. What sound does "Ric" make already? Not 'reek', but 'ric', that's why it's spelled 'Ricochet' and not "Reekochet'.
