Reduce default number of players in maps

Recommended Posts

When a typical player creates a team battle, he leaves number of players 10 vs 10, thinking that developers set

that number because the quality of battles is best that way. But if you think about it, 20 players cramped in one

normal sized map makes battle chaotic, slow and repetitive. This leeds to frustration, that i believe causes

many players to quit Tanki.

Developers should change the original number from 10 to 6 (or at least 7, 8) per team, to show players that

battles this way create enough space for a fast paced, more versatile game and enough space for each player to do his own thing.

When I set a game up I always readjust the number of players down  to suit the map.  I loath overclouded games, so on the very large maps perhaps 8 on the smaller say perhaps 4 depending how I feel.   Overcrowding creates unsatisfactory games.  One second your destroying and the next destroyed, within the blink of an eye, little skill on any party.  The lag can be atrocious also.  Small numbers on large maps creates drama.  Wondering around on little life, listening to a distant tank, avoiding it and trying to find a supply or a fortuitous sighting to take the other out first with a lucky shot.  So much more rewarding.

Most people prefer speedy gameplay with big fund. Less players might be more organized, but slower and less exiting in my opinion. Less players, harder to find a target, which can be really annoying in maps like Kunger. more people play with the largest amount of players possible than those who lower the maximium. Why change it when the majority would not like it?

You do have a point! Default values should be set at about 60 - 70% of the maximum map capacity with the ability for map creator to bump it to maximum.

I disagree. Sure, for format battles or matches against professional teams the current number of players may be too much, but for normal players it's pretty much just right. I never really had games where both teams really struggled to capture flags - that only happens when both teams are defending and barely anyone is attacking. Sure with less players battles may become more interesting, but players will still complain because due to fewer players being more spread out, the fund will increase slower and people will earn less crystals. And that kind of update is always a pain in the rear for developers to deal with in terms of player reception.

Highly populated games are just a lottery.  Their is far more to playing than a team gaining a flag.  No one suggested that high numbers be banned just that it should not be the default setting.

No.

If you want 6v6 battles make them yourself. This is an Arcade MMO Shooter, not WOT.

Wow, that made you sound so smart, poser. And that's why all professional battles (on normal sized maps) in TO are played in 6 vs 6? How would you explain that?
