Nicknames Database Update

Am i the only one, who thinks this is utter nonsense ...

... What about this boy, who will enroll as a Russian army conscripts?
He is not ditching his account, he will come home, after getting discharged from army, with the desire to have his mother's food and play tanki before getting a job but for his disappointment, he will find out, that his girlfriend had left him to one of his friends and tanki has given his handle to one of his enemies.

I wonder which betrayal hurt him most!?

You both completely misunderstood how this works. The account will not be wiped out, it will not be deleted — the only thing that will change is its nickname, nothing else will change. Nicknames are often reserved and kept on Recruits' accounts, this is completely not fine!
Think about new users willing to play Tanki Online — they want a cool nickname and they can't pick their favourite one since it is used by a Recruit account that never played since 2011, they may leave the Game completely due to this and that is also why this system was implemented.

....

I am only speaking for myself here, ;)
I think, i did not misunderstood anything, not even a mere fraction!

Fuji Chan, here's the deal mate, I don't like it because i want to have the freedom of maneuvering, i took a long break from tanki in the end of 2011 till the end of first quarter of 2012, i was a low rank player then, it would have been wrong if Tanki had transferred my screenname to someone else, just because i took a break.

According to your reasoning there are so many unused reserved (by players) accounts in recruites' level, then do the right thing and wipe them if necessary or when the necessity arise.

Private ownership is one of the fundamental things humans value, and when you put a cap on this right, it makes your product less attractive and less desired, even huge conglomerates like Microsoft, Yahoo, Google are not "touching" registered but unused email accounts just because they have another client who wants someone elses' email ("address name only").

In my mind it should be "first came, first served" basis!!!

And also DON'T forget what made the account name attractive to others, a huge share of it lays on the original owners' creativity.

This upgrade also might lead to abuse, this will be use to grab enemy accounts just to hurt them (as we already seen in KICK system)!

So a simple reminder to Devs (not to MODs) here: Please get your heads out of the lower end of your digestive systems, and try to understand non-soviet style mentality others are used to!

What if they don't have email  I thought about email too, but I actually think outside the box. B)

If a player didn't linked to an email address, the account nickname will become available without  notifying. If it is linked to an email address, then that person will receive an email to re-activate the account as soon as possible, also they will get a week to re-activate the account. Listen to this part, here. If your nickname has been taken by someone else and you didn't linked to any email address then you will need to contact the help desk help@tankionline.com to have a new nickname, for FREE.

Well, yes, some people don't bother to read all the info, but it is important to read them all carefully ;)

So far there is no clear explanation of what is an "active account" (or what is an "inactive account"). Someone might lose the nickname even he or she plays everyday because the account is considered as "inactive" (again, there is no explanation of "active account). Does he or she need to perform something? Does he or she need to spend some crystals or real money? Again, no explanation of what is an "active account".

Also, if someone's nickname is taken; unfortunately, he or she doesn't have a contacting e-mail so that he or she doesn't know the given new nickname, how does he or she login again? This means that the player will lose not only the nickname but the account.

Thirdly, if a player, who has a contact e-mail, lose the nickname and is given a new name but he or she doesn't like it (for example new nicknames like "bbdfdyq64529" or "iamafool") so that he or she wants to change this given nickname, does he or she need to pay 100k crystals to change it? This is very unclear.

Things have not been helped by the way things have been handled.  Originally a thread was launched that looked very like a suggestion and people expressed their thoughts.  Then, an official announcement suddenly followed and the original thread closed..  The announcement was not clear and caused confusion and everyone offering their idea on how it worked.  Any way.  This is the definitive guide.  I have been through it and it explains everything.  It is the official wiki version.  Read carefully, every ones questions will be fully answered including most scenarios..

@J.G.S.D.F, please read the wiki-page linked above by @ELIZABETH1122 :)

As she said, all information about this update have been explained in detail there.

Also, if you took some more of your time reading the whole topic, you would have found out that there is a Q&A post with many info (2nd post, directly under the OP) and that I personally answered the questions you asked.

This won't make any sense, really, is it that devs drink vodka before going to work? I just don't get those people.. At least I'd rather work on the fabulous lags this game has, it's getting mad, and a nickname database is all what they're thinking of? Can you name just one game which did this? If I'm inactive someone can just make a new account with my name? This is definitely ******ed, no offense to anyone.

The references concerning alcohol are salacious and inflammatory.  They are unnecessary.  While lag is an important issue undoubtedly, this thread is about nick names and is trying to unravel confusion regarding that matter.  The nickname data base is very comprehensive and is most excellent. lt covers all scenario.

I have a question if 2 player apply for 1 account then what will happen, may be the first one who applied get account but what if 2 players apply at same time for 1 name?

I think that these thing will be decided by automation were millionths of a second might decide who gets what.

I had a account named jjmine6 I wasn't on for along time. I went back on and my name had changed to r_jjmine60. This update is really annoying. Take no offense tanki but this is the worst update you had.

I just tried the system by creating a new account with the same name. It works well.

It just takes time to get familiar with it. Now only the numbers in the nickname can change.

Let's see how attractive my nickname is in the next months.

Just to note that right after Tanki has changed the nickname, to r_A0 for example, it is not possible to create a new account with the nick r_A0 immediately.
