A bummer that I just missed you, but I'll proceed anyway in the hope you get around to my questions sooner or later. Anyway, let's get to it.

 

• Cedric, you seem to have a well constructed plan for the future of our English community in TO. What experiences in your past have lead you to where you are today, and which of these in particular have especially prepared you for the English CM position?
• I don't think it's been asked already, but it seems like such a fundamental aspect of being a Tanki player... So, my second question is, what's your favorite combination (with paint included)?
• What aspects of Tanki Online do you like the most, and what is it about your chosen aspect particularly which is appealing to you?
• What does the progression of your career with TO over the last two years look like?
• What is your fondest memory of Semyon?

1. It's hard to say what specifically prepared me. You see, people tend to think about jobs as a whole unit. In reality, jobs are simply a collection of skills that can be transferred at will. For instance, from my job as a casino dealer, I didn't just learn to be a casino dealer; I learned the importance of procedures, and how to create procedures that have minimal loopholes. From my job as a copywriter, I learned how to step into the consumers' perspective and find out what really matters to them when it comes to buying. So really, all of my jobs prepared me in some way for Tanki Online.
2. Wasp&Freeze. I don't have a favorite paint because it depends on what's in the arena
3. I think it's the possibility of working with so many different people of different skill sets, and I love to bring all those skills together to orchestrate something really cool for the community.
4. I started out working exclusively on texts, and helping out a little in the marketing department due to my background. Then Semyon left and I was handed over the position.
5. Probably his visit in Malta. We had a great time.
6. My greatest achievement is probably the radical changes I managed to make in my personal character.
7. I've only tested TX very briefly. But I love all the little visual details they've included.
8. Probably spend it on good food and musical equipment, besides gifts for loved ones.

Hello Cedric. We already know each other since we used to 'work' together on FB Events announcements (never had a good moment to thank you for correcting my mistakes, so - grazie mille).

 

Very nice of you to answer on all questions. I read your replies and I'm more than glad that our new community manager is going to be more serious and strict, yet very helpful and useful to the community. Changes are something we really need... Allow me to ask you few things:

 

*WARNING -- TOO MUCH TEXT -- POSSIBLE HEADACHE*

 

 

 

1. You said you are not opening spectator applications anytime soon. They were closed for more than a year now - in case you didn't know... I am pretty much the one who was always suggesting and reviewing channels of 60% of current spectators. None of them applied via applications form. They ask me, I see their channel, I tell them what to improve, check on them few months later and decide whether they deserve it or no, then I give my further opinion to CM. Semyon and me had almost the same taste, so he believed me on my word. However, what I really want to ask you is - If I am among the first players (if not the first one), without helper position, who got spectator mode, and 2 years later returned it due to real life obligations, would it be possible for me to get it back? As far as I remember, I didn't ask CM for it as I was asked to be an unofficial helper of the Polish Community. Now that he is gone, and you are here, I suppose I have to ask you. I was given spectator on my main account before they even made applications. I made one of the more popular topics back then which could be still useful. It exist in 3 communities now, but I had to close it (again because of obligations). I'm talking about RAS. You can check date and description of it. I mostly had spectator for community purposes (not promoting the game), but I decided to try getting better on youtube and I succeeded in it, so I believe I won't fail doing the spectator mandatory monthly contests if needed.
2. According to your previous replies, I realized that you are keeping eye on every moderating section. That's good, but please tell me what are we supposed to do if we notice a staff member that is breaking game rules or not doing his/her work properly and yet we don't have enough proof to give to their admins? As an ex moderator, I've been warned (and later kicked) for being too close to players and telling them too many obvious things (mostly on Skype), but when I reported my colleague for breaking moderating rules (using copy-pasted answers on much older FB posts in order to get bigger salary), admin decided to just tell him to keep doing his job. My admin was very biased and never respected Semyon's decision to add me to FB moderators (yes, I never applied by myself, I was asked to be a moderator)... Does that mean that we, less loved mods, have specific rules? That we don't have equal rights as other moderators? CM felt sad for decision of my ex admin to take away my position (as it wasn't according to the break of the rules, more because of a personal reason), so he asked me to open a new section especially for Event Organizers which I later refused to join because of my huge disappointment. I hope it will not be your case to always trust admins more as if we were some poor, powerless humans with no right for vote. CLICK HERE to see one more example of admin to player conversation. If we had some issues previously, does that give him (an admin) a right to talk to me this way? If yes, then you don't have to answer on this one.
3. There is an endless number of situations where players get an unfair forever ban. Sometimes it is because of the fake report (lag mostly), sometimes because of the hackers and spam links in public chats, and mostly because of "account sharing". However, many players got unbanned after 6 months or even after 2 days. I know a big number of them. Many asked for help from chat admins and they got what they wanted, while others are left to fight on their own. Let's not forget that this game is full of people below age of 15 who don't know what hacking is, nor they know importance of some game rules. I believe forever ban should not exist on this game as it's way too strict. Don't even want to mention permanent block. I know a person who gave money for this game (which makes him a customer), who is constant player for like 5 years, and who got BLOCK just by playing in friend's house across the street. Playing on friend's computer which obviously has different IP address. He had no way of proving this to tech support. He asked for comparing addresses, and he got refused for no good reason. It's just "What's done, is done". So please, Cedric, tell me whether there will be any chance for fair rules + improved way of giving punishments? I know this is not your job area, but we are your community and you shall feel obligated to talk to head staff about these problems. We ALL get different rules and different punishments. I believe these things are pissing players off more than anything else on this game.
4. Last, but not less important, question - According to a developer (designer), team is having difficulties in stopping DDOS attacks which became constant these days. Players keep disconnecting and losing scores (crystals they fought for), which is really annoying. More and more keep on leaving. So, is there any hope that these attacks will be stopped? Do you believe game will "survive" them and keep on working on updates? In other, more simpler and direct words - Do you think that game will stop existing if there won't be any solution found soon? Tanki X could replace Tanki Online because of these problems. I need to know what's your opinion about this.

Mia, just to get a small thing out of the way — I didn't only remove you from facebook; I'm removing everyone who is not a close friend or family member. I've even removed people who are acquaintances but with whom I haven't spoken in the past 6 months. And once I finish this first revision, I'll be chopping off people whom I haven't spoken with in the last 3 months. So, don't take offence. I'm simply using facebook in the way it's meant to be. This is not about you.  :)

 

Now, onto your questions.

 

1. For spectator mode, as with everything else, I'll be doing things in a very specific way that fits my way of doing things. As I explained earlier (at least I think I did... I'm actually losing my thread lol), Spectator Mode should be used as a service for the viewers, to entertain. Players who have that attitude, and have the skill to pull that off, will be more than welcome in the new Spectator group. But this is not the place to discuss anyone's credentials  :)
2. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I love to give people a lot of rope. They can either climb it or get tangled in it. I like to sit back and watch people do what they do. I don't speculate. Rather, I let their actions speak. So far, I'm still forming my ideas of everyone here, including you obviously. But I can say that there are people who have already gained my trust through consistent positive action. There are also people who are slowly losing my trust in them because I noticed that they're more interested in bringing up grudges and feuds, and winning petty personal wars, than actually being of service to the community. Remember, all I care about is the community and being of service to it.
3. One of my top "behind-the-scenes" priorities is streamlining admin and mod processes to there are less gray areas. There's also the issue of communication between various community mods and admins, due to the sheer size of staff members. It will take time to streamline the whole thing, but eventually we can get there, and it will be for everyone's benefit.
4. Our programmers are doing their best to solve these issues. Remember, these people owe their livelihood to this game. It's what allows them to bring home the food. This is a big deal for them. For players, lags and bugs might be a super upsetting issue. For programmers, it's a threat to their family. I think everyone would do well to appreciate that fact — maybe it'll help you see just how much these guys want to fix these problems. And for the record, no I don't think TX will replace TO. In fact, I've already said something about this earlier in this thread  :)

Mr.Debono what will you say about afterlife on tanki O i mean after release of Tanki X because it is rather obvious that version 1 will die when version 2 comes up but thing is in most of other games the previous one is modified here we are talking about two different games to run on parallel right, but people will join tanki x not tanki online (i dont know exactly what gonna happen just picked up things from previous v logs etc) will our favourite game die like this? or will tanki O will have a new future like tanki x? will tanki O recieve any further updates or main focus will be tanki x?

 

 

also as for previous v logs, at the time sir Semyon hosted them it was real fun cause it was like we were interacting to a real CM, then he had to leave v logs and that system like voice wasn't real fun , really it wasn't when semyon sir used to say hello tankers to see you next friday it was more like a conversation that wasn't really happening, now a days v log looks as if we are listening to a audio book or like a no interaction classroom, so shall we expect you to host v logs any soon as you can make v logs real intrested?

I know it might not be possible to host the complete V-log, but a small short clip (like in the last one) keeps up the 'interactiveness' thing of the V-log and keeps us excited...

 

4) Can I see you on servers, playing the game, free of that workload? :lol:

 

5) Can you convince Hazel to return to the I&S section? Missing Hazel :(

2) Recently there has been an update in the theme of mobile version for forum...I was wondering if it was possible to be able to switch between the themes...coz, I was too used to the old theme, and this update wasn't really required as no new features have been added...moreover, I personally use mobile theme mostly at night, and this becomes sharp to the eyes now..

Also, the new version is a bit worse than the previous coz - its a bit slow, there's a notification bug, the dual click thing is gone (this gonna be hard to explain, but I'll try) - when you click a button, say quote, the older system allowed you to click it as many times wanted, but in the new system, you can not click it more than twice; so if loading hangs, you need to close the tab and reopen it, but earlier if loading hanged, you could reclick and restart loading....

 

 

3) Okay, this one gonna be quite weird and perhaps un-required...

There are a few really good and required ideas in the I&S section (like Kick2)...We don't see any step by the development towards it...can their implementation be ever expected in future? (That idea is already more than an year old, and has max likes) :D

 

6) Quite a bit ago, there was an announcement of an update in the V-log (perhaps before you joined Tanki, not sure)...it said that players will be able to leave the battle in a pause mode (without actually occupying a space and harming the team) and be able to return after a dinner break without loosing your score of thousands....

Can you provide any information of its progress?

1. For spectator mode, as with everything else, I'll be doing things in a very specific way that fits my way of doing things. As I explained earlier (at least I think I did... I'm actually losing my thread lol), Spectator Mode should be used as a service for the viewers, to entertain. Players who have that attitude, and have the skill to pull that off, will be more than welcome in the new Spectator group. But this is not the place to discuss anyone's credentials  :)
2. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I love to give people a lot of rope. They can either climb it or get tangled in it. I like to sit back and watch people do what they do. I don't speculate. Rather, I let their actions speak. So far, I'm still forming my ideas of everyone here, including you obviously. But I can say that there are people who have already gained my trust through consistent positive action. There are also people who are slowly losing my trust in them because I noticed that they're more interested in bringing up grudges and feuds, and winning petty personal wars, than actually being of service to the community. Remember, all I care about is the community and being of service to it.
3. One of my top "behind-the-scenes" priorities is streamlining admin and mod processes to there are less gray areas. There's also the issue of communication between various community mods and admins, due to the sheer size of staff members. It will take time to streamline the whole thing, but eventually we can get there, and it will be for everyone's benefit.
4. Our programmers are doing their best to solve these issues. Remember, these people owe their livelihood to this game. It's what allows them to bring home the food. This is a big deal for them. For players, lags and bugs might be a super upsetting issue. For programmers, it's a threat to their family. I think everyone would do well to appreciate that fact — maybe it'll help you see just how much these guys want to fix these problems. And for the record, no I don't think TX will replace TO. In fact, I've already said something about this earlier in this thread  :)

 

 

I didn't say it's about me. I'm not mad about the fact that you removed me. Maybe I didn't express myself the right way, sorry about that. I know why you removed me and I understand and respect your decision. Not a big deal.

 

About questions - I believe I didn't get answers I expected to get. According to your replies, my questions were too personal? But I'm not the one to blame, as topic's name is "Ask-Me-Anything". I chose to ask things I'm most interested in. Things that probably the whole community want to know about. I used personal examples because they describe the situation in a best way. However, it's not the first time that someone from a "higher position" is using an excuse of something being "too personal". And what wars are we talking about again? :) I haven't seen them for a while. Maybe I'm wrong? If some people do start these grudges and feuds, it's mostly because they are being ignored by the staff (the only people who can help). Players are treated with disrespect, helpers are not being actual HELPERS, they work only to get crystals and show off in the game and misuse their powers. I'm on this game for almost 3 years. Just like you, I sit, I observe quietly and when I see something wrong, I speak openly about it. And that makes ME ( ;) ) the wrong one. Admins hate when players are right or too good in something, so they make them shut up with about "personal feuds" with their powerful ways. And if we say one more thing, ban/block (this is why game is being attacked... angry players who got nothing but injustice). Discrimination at its finest. I will always speak like this because I will always be on the side of players. I've been staff, I saw things players couldn't see and I lost my position because of trying to make changes. However, I'm no longer interested in positions because I have no wish to work with such people (one thing I'm hoping YOU are going to change), all I'm interested in is getting my spectator back because I'm known as the person of the biggest use to the community when it comes to recording ranks up, events, taking pictures etc.

 

About programmers... I know. I know all. Maybe I even know things I'm not supposed to know. I am on their side however. I'm in contact with one of them and try to help whenever I can by giving my knowledge, opinion about upcoming updates etc. But all I wanted to know was whether there is a chance for Tanki to survive these attacks which will become bigger and worse by time. That's all.

What shall we do if any tanki player in Hindi or English gives us badwords without any reason and talks rubbish ..

I m not able to report that player..And the moderators dont come usually when we call them ..Plz is there any solution??

As a girl i really want to know should we say also say him bad words or do what???

Please answer and i would request the Hindi moderators to seriously see to this situation because most of the players take advantage of english moderators as they cant understand Hindi they use very bad and abusive language..

Please moderators do something and do reply...

1. All you need to do is block them. It's as easy as that
2. I'm sorry but mods have a lot on their hands, and they're also volunteers, so you'll have to be patient.
3. If you say bad words the mods must penalize you accordingly, irrespective of whether someone insulted you first. Two wrongs don't make a right, and that's something I want to make sure everyone in this community starts understanding sooner rather than later.
4. I understand your concern about Hindi moderators. I'll see what I can do to facilitate them more so they have better tools to do their job.

So despite your coolness, you remain at the despondently low rank of Warrant Officer 2. Obviously this is due to your enormously busy schedule. So, how much time power week/month do you get to play TO? And when you do, what battles so you play? How often do you rank?

 

And also, how many times have you visited the AlternarivaPlatform office till date? You know, to coordinate stuff etc. Any plans on moving to Russia? :P

 

Finally, enlighten us a little about what you did before stumbling across the EN community's doorstep, what with you being a jack of all trades and such.
