Guide [Issue 53] Evolution of a Tank

Allow me to be so presumptuous as to attempt to model the path a newbie (might) take through the world and ranks of Tanki.

 

As with anyone, they'll start off as a Hunter-Smoky/Green. From here, there are three paths they can take. Keep in mind - this is a mere conjuring of my mind, and clearly does not reflect what actual tankers may do.

 

M0 ranks

 

Are you a sniper? Do you like to shoot holes in tanks that can't even see you? If so, pray continue down this path.

Your tank of choice is M0 Titan-Railgun! Maybe you haven't realised that the arrow keys allow you to move yet...

 

Are you a midfielder? Do you, uh, just like to sit in the middle of the battlefield and shoot at things that move? Continue here!

Your tank of choice is M0 Viking-Thunder! Now that that's been established you can g- OH LOOK A SQUIRREL BLOW IT UP

 

Do you prefer the cramped spaces of close-quarters-combat? Look below!

Your tank of choice is M0 Hornet Twins! Now get back to that vicious cycle of kill-and-be-killed.

 

 

M1 ranks

 

For the sake of simplicity, we continue with the classes identified earlier. After all, they do say your earlier years (hours? days? weeks?) are the formative ones.

 

Sniper

Have you discovered the need for movement yet? You know, the arrow keys are pretty clearly marked on a keyboard...

 

Yes.

Congratulations, you've evolved into a Hornet-Railgun!

 

No.

Well... I guess some individuals are just built for a sedentary life... Mammoth-Shaft for you.

 

Midfielder

Are you tired of losing kills and score by self-destructing? You could just become a pacifist... or not.

 

Yes.

Back to the basics for you; Hunter-Smoky

 

No.

If you're happy as you are, why change? By all means stay a Viking-Thunder.

 

Close-quarters

Do you know how to turn your turret?

 

Yes.

Congratulations, you're already better than 99% of all players, particularly @GoldRock and @Remaine. Go and master that nimble Wasp-Freeze.

Hornet-Ricochet.

Sniper

At this point, I would like to think that most of you have figured out how to move... So - do you prefer power, or movemet?

 

Give me power any day, I like 1-shotting weaklings.

Shaft-Viking is quite suited to you, then...

 

Who needs power, when you can always dodge shots? I prefer moving.

Hunter-Railgun will offer you the mobility you seek.

 

Midfielder

You've all heard that alarm, and seen that golden symbol. Question is, do you really care about it?

 

Yes, I'm a gold mult hunter!

You'll be quite pleased with Dictator's built in hacks, then.

 

No, who cares about 1 000 crystals?

Hm... Mammoth-Thunder offers longer-lasting midfield camping. It'll work for you.

 

Close-quarters

Do you know how to turn your turret?

 

Yes.

Congratulations, you're still better than 99% of all players, particularly @GoldRock and @Remaine. Viking-Firebird will prove powerful in your controls.

Of course, they're part of the game, built to be used.

I hear that Mammoth-Vulcan can fire for over ten minutes with supplies... care to give it a shot?

 

No. I play fair - I don't take advantage of others.

You know, the basic tank - Hunter-Smoky - is quite versatile. I think you'll love it.

What the heck? I followed my path and got wasp rail, which is my (new) favourite combo. But the whole evolution wasn't accurate at all, my evolution started at smoky hunter----> smoky wasp----> shaft wasp----> twins wasp----> rail wasp  (i love wasp :wub: )

With extreme caution and high level intelligence, I finally managed to infiltrate some private severs and I now have some photos of her. That should settle this argument once and for all.

I don't believe that hornet - ricochet is a tank for noobs who can't turn their turret. There are a few such players, but by no means all hornet - ricochet players are people who by some great coincide haven't learned how to turn their tank's gun.
