Couldn't get gold box

what happened: the gold box sat inside my Titan M1 for a full 1 second or more before Henkske_Vanh (the Hornet/Shaft ally on my right) was able to take it (he pushed from the side). don't know why I couldn't get it as everything seem to be fine (I saw that everyone was moving smoothly - not as if I was lagging badly) but as can be seen on the screenshot below, I did lag so I guess that prevented me from getting the gold box.

 

still, I was definitely supposed to get it as I was alive (used double armor and repaired myself to full when the gold drop announcement appeared) and under the gold box drop way before it even reached the ground (I nearly died before it fell as there was enemies in front of me - as can be seen on the upper right of the screenshot, they died).

 

how do I know that I was alive to get it despite the lag? it says on the upper right of the screenshot that the guy who took the gold box and I was killed with one shot by one guy - that guy who fired the railgun on both of us (visible on the screenshot).

 

by the way, as can be seen, I was using my alt account RAG1NG_FERNO, not this one I use in the forums.

You were having a poor connection. So it appeared to YOU that you are touching the gold, but according to servers, you are not...

And when you get a sudden connection for a sec or two, your current battle status updates.

 

Think it like - I have 999 ping, so I can go anywhere the map, even jump down the sky-box and not get destroyed. This is because 999 ping means all the data transmitted between server and your internet gets lost. So server doesn't know your exact position, so it assumes to be standing at the 'last detected' position. Got me? :)

I didn't even know I had 999 ping until I openned paint and pasted the screenshot I took - the game was running smoothly, just that the lag caused me to be unable to get any drop - we all know lag causes that.

 

if the server thought that I wasn't there, then how did the enemy kill both me and the guy who took the gold box with that railgun shot?

This has happened to many people (including me). It is a part of lag, which is a part of tanki. Remember, it is only 1k.

1) I described the lag in a more detailed way....what I wrote, in short, is a type of lag...and this type of lag prevents you from getting golds.. :mellow:

 

2) You were there on the server. What differed was the position. So when people were attacking your tank (as there was a live tank of yours over there), your tank got destroyed, but you didn't come to know that until when there was a connection and your status refreshed.

Thus, in actual, you were dead, but you didn't come to know it. Got that, now??

uhm, nobody asked...

I lagged because my father was surfing the internet using the other computer - probably uploading some file to send with an e-mail because that's part of his job.

remember, I did see everything smoothly, so I do have good download speed (I can see the server telling me I have 999 ping after all), but missing gold boxes, as far as I know, is the result of having not able to upload the fact that your tank touched the gold box.

so, my father was definitely uploading something cutting me off of any upload speed to tell the server I'm supposed to have grabbed the gold box already.

you just contradicted every part of my post regarding what happened. what, are you the one who saw/experienced what happened now?

 

my position never changed since I parked my tank on the terrain that has the "gold drop site" icon on it because why the heck would I drive around when the gold box is going to drop right on top of me? I was already there way before the gold box even appeared in the sky.

 

also, the enemy who killed the guy who took the gold box is the same enemy who killed me (railgun penetrated me killing me and the guy who took the gold box), how could I be dead already, if the guy who took the gold box died the same time as me but was still alive to take it?

thank you for understanding(ish :)). I just did.

 

just really bummed that the rare chance my Titan account can get a gold was missed due to taking gold boxes being client-sided, especially when it really needs the crystals to buy Predator kit.

I understand....I very well know how I stand, in my alt, in empty battles for long for just 100 crystals..:p

Every single crystal is precious in lower ranks...

Your ping was really high. If that happens, some boxes may not work. In this case, the gold box didnt want to work for you. Make sure your ping is a green number :)

You was lagging a lot see your  ping999 Fps34 so you did not get the Gold Box. It happened to me many times when you get lag you must reload your page if still you are lagging clear your browsing data.
