completed Chroma Key map for shooting videos and replacing custom backgrounds

It would be really cool if we had a plain chromakey map inside which players could shoot videos, and then replace the chromakey background with any background like in movies.

 

Maybe we could start by just having Sandbox in plain blue or green with a specific color code.

That seems pretty interesting and pretty cool, and it gonna be damn interesting to watch such customized videos...But I was just wondering if people would really bother editing all the background, with so much of efforts, like shown in the video....

 

I mean, those people (in video) do it coz they're paid for this...a few tankers might do that out of interest...but the map getting 'popular'? Will it?

(Perhaps it might, if people show interest in it...maybe you can start by having a test? :) )

 

Still, if its implemented, and if people make such videos...I don't think I would be able to stop myself from viewing them....:p

It's a good idea, but it wouldn't work. Some of the props (like the grass) are green in color and there are green and blue paints as well. Of course, you could use a mask, but that would become too tedious for complex scenes.

Isn't it good to discuss with the community, if they want such a thing or not? I personally liked this act of our CM sharing his ideas with us...^_^

No, not even the CM can request ideas directly to developers. I mean... he can obviously tell them, but coming up with new ideas to improve the game is not really part of his job, so despite the fact that this idea was made by Cedric, it doesn't have much higher chance of being added to the game than if the same idea was posted by a player.

 

Heck, even Hazel Rah has a lot of ideas which he can't add into the game, because his superiors don't let him.

Precisely. Besides, I just wanted to see what the general feedback would be from the community. But as has already been stated, I am in no way involved in the decision-making process of what goes in or out of the game. I lack the expertise and it is simply not my department.
