Is your PM system loaded with random-named PMs? Is it hard to locate a certain PM because of the title another person gave to it? All that could be fixed with the simple ability to edit the title of a PM.

 

 

        My idea is simple. Be able to edit the title of your PM to match an accurate description of the PM. By adding this option, an inbox like this,

 

 

 

I do not even know what these PMs are.

 

 

 

could turn into an inbox like this,

 

 

I could tell you what each of the PMs are about based on the title. (Please note, all of the accounts are my accounts and I made the PMs for this topic.)

 

 

This idea would help players with random PMs that are important, yet have a random title, to change the title to an appropriate title.

 

 

A few debate questions which I would like your opinions on:

 

Should the PM name change for all the recipients or just in your inbox?

If it is decided that it should change for both,

Should there be a notification about the name change?

If it is decided that there should not be a notification,

How will the other person be able to figure out which PM was the one he wanted to go to?

Good idea. I'll forward it to DS to see what we can do. I have this issue with many PMs in my folder where people PM me about a specific thing like "Why am I banned?", but then the player uses the same PM to ask other questions and out 3-4 page conversation still has the same irrelevant title. Kind of annoying.

 

As for the "debate questions", we need to see what's actually possible to do with this forum engine and only after that choose what we actually want to do. This might not even be possible on this forum.

You know how you forum mods can change the name of a topic title? Couldn't the same/similar principle/code be applied to PMs?

PM is a completely different part of the forum, so I'm sure not all topic functions can work there.

Maybe add back deleted pms too?

If 3 users is in chat group here, and creator deletes it, those 2 users cant chat anymore there.

Maybe. Or, in a three person PM, deleting it only removes you from the conversation.
