Any musicians in Tanki Online?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I find it hard to believe I'm the only musician in Tanki Online. If the talent pool in other areas is anything to go by, I'm pretty sure we've gotta have at least a handful of really skilled musicians.

I'd love to see music in here. Maybe we could get something going. I know it's "technically" supposed to be TO-related, but maybe that can come later  :)

Yeah, I play the cello. Just had a concert last night. Played Pirates of the Caribbean.

I also want to learn to write music at some point. That would be fun.

Oh my, you're taking over the creativity section too :D

Yes, my dark shadow will slowly creep across the whole kingdom, consuming it with my presence!!!

To write music, you just have to start. Most of what you'll write at the beginning will be imitation, and will really suck. But eventually you'll start absorbing other styles and finding your own composing voice, and that's where things will get REALLY interesting  :)

I play the NS/Stick, which is a half-fretless guitar/bass hybrid. This is me back when I had longer hair: http://www.stickist.com/gallery/pic.php?mode=large&pic_id=395

Is this asking about professional musicians, or people who play instruments?

Anyone! Remember, professionals were once amateurs who couldn't play a note to save their lives lol

Ooh, good topic! As you might guess by my username, I play mandolin. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's an instrument derived from the lute that was initially used in baroque and classical music, and has now been adapted to folk music, mainly fiddling and bluegrass. It's also worked its way into some forms of jazz.

I'll put some of my favorite music below, some of which includes a bit of mandolin:

Sons of the East -- Come Away (folk)

Django Reinhardt -- Minor Swing (gypsy jazz)

Sufjan Stevens -- John My Beloved (indie folk)

Edgar Meyer -- Big Country (bluegrass) (mandolin included!)

Каспийский Груз -- Я не люблю (rap)

Punch Brothers -- Julep (newgrass) (mandolin included!)

Moray West -- Queen of the Night (classical)

Bon Iver -- Holocene (indie folk)

Del & Dawg -- Tennessee Waltz (bluegrass) (mandolin included!)

Iron and Wine -- Such Great Heights (folk)

Let me know if you come across anything you particularly like in the list above, or if you have some suggestions for me!
