Remove Ban for Flooding

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

This has probably happened to you before, being banned for "flooding" the game chat. You either get a warning, five-minute ban, or one hour(!) ban. Now, in a heated battle, when you are trying to tell your teammate NOT to waltz into the enemy base to try and return your flag while carrying it themselves, you usually type quite fast. What is extremely annoying is if you accidently "flood" the chat and get banned. What is even more annoying is when you do it twice accidently and get banned for A WHOLE HOUR. I understand that flooding the chat is bad, but instead of getting banned for it why not it just not show up? Like if you typed something in the chat over 3 times in a row, the 4th time just wouldn't show up, rather than giving you a ban.

1st of all, you will get an hour ban ONLY if you made a massive flood or you already were banned for 5 minutes. I don't agree that banning for flood should be removed as players would spam the chat and there would be no way to stop them. This is probably one of the worst ideas ever ;)

I agree to that partially...I have seen a few players who got banned by the auto ban, though they didn't deserve that...But like 60%-70% of the times, those people typing too much in chat are actually flooding...messages in chat actually distract you..and useless+repeated messages distract your gameplay..Whenever the auto ban bans a flooder, I feel, like, so relieved and perform better in game...And as per my personal experience, maximum times it's the flooders who get banned...

I have a suggestion:

The auto ban bans the player only for the current battle that's going on...and the ban ends when the player either leaves the battle or one round finishes (whichever is earlier)...

But this can be abused by players by exiting and rejoining the battle...so the player should be banned from the chat of that battle...Which means, that if you leave and rejoin the SAME battle, you would still be banned until the round finishes (or for a minimum period of 5-10 mins (ban gets progressive in nature) in cases of long battle like 45+ mins)...but if you leave that battle and join any other battle, chat is available for you...

The auto ban works the same way for lobby chats...

No, no no. What I mean is that instead of getting banned for flooding, the message that violates the rule does not show up at all in the chat.

It's just better for players to get banned, as that will teach them a lesson. Also the implementing of that new system would be pretty hard as it would need to be tested and it could sometimes not work. I don't really see this in Tanki Online but I can suggest this to be added to Tanki X if you want me to :)

Yeah, I agree. Simply not showing the message is a better alternative to giving out bans. I'd love to see this implemented with the anti-swear system too, where instead of censoring the bad words it would simply delete the message, or even better - make the message show only for the one who posted it, but not for others. This kind of system works in Club Penguin and it's very effective in dealing with swearing, since the fact that players think their swears are not being deleted means that they don't get encouraged to try again and bypass the filtering system.

Good idea, and you know what's annoying too? When you type to fast in the server chat and you have to wait before you can send your message.

I was at a rank up party with a bunch of friends.  We were doing a tower rank up and were communicating through chat.  We were almost ready when the person who was ranking up got banned for 5 minutes for flooding.  We all had a good laugh, but it kind of messed up the rank up for him and we weren't perfectly ready when he did actually rank up.  You can see that happen here:

I would think this could be an effective idea.

It ruined my parkour with my friends. I suggest banning for flood only if a word is repeated more then 5 times in the same sentence

It is sometimes seen in XP/BP battles when counting before the "GO"

The most annoying point is that when a player that IS flooding properly and deserves a ban... he follows without any warning.

Yes. I do agree that bans for flooding and spamming should be removed because if you are banned, you cannot use the forum to chat.

The CAPITAL LETTERS ban should also be removed. Players should be given the freedom to use block capitals to highlight important words and phrases. There should be no ban on block capitals.

Flooding and spamming does not hurt anyone, but remember to always be polite towards other players.
