Hotkey for quick view of battle from above

I was wondering if it might be possible to have a hotkey which you press to give you a quick birds eye veiw

of the map your playing in

just a press and release to give you a quick veiw rather than using the page up and down buttons

sometimes in a heated battle its a bit annoying playing and trying to press page up and down at the same time

just a quick press of a button to show you an overview would be really handy

anyone any thoughts on this idea ?

Valid

[mps] [ctrl] [intf] [gmpl]

This may render some current tactics obsolete, such as hiding the flag in different places during a flag exchange or sneaking into the enemy base. But other than that I like the idea. Would definitely allow you coordinate your actions better such as choose the best direction from which to attack or check if any areas of your base are left undefended.

i am not suggesting removing the page up or down

the use of the hotkey would be used for quick reference then when released would return you to your

chosen camera settings using your page up-down

Camera angles are a skill. Adding this would terminate it

^ This is why this won't be implemented. Skilled use of Q & E makes the entire map visible to you.

I don't like this because it makes the game easier. If this is implemented, wouldn't it ruin tactics? Campers won't be able to camp. People with flags won't be able to hide because they would get spotted.

In large maps when gold is dropping, gold will be spotted and it won't be fun. I would rather find the gold because that's fun to me :p

I like this idea.  Yes Q & E or Pg UP and Down (which ever your flavor) is a skill.  But, in that moment of fight or flight that quick glance tactical advantage may help in making qualified decisions.  There have been countless times when I am evading with the enemy flag.  I round a corner right into a hornet's nest of enemy tanks.  Needless to say it doesn't bode very well for me.  As for the other concerns.  There is a simple solution to this view.  First - don't give the tanks on the battlefield their allegiance.  Just show a tank in that area.  Second - don't show were the power ups and gold drop locations are.  These are more or less chance items and should remain that way.  It is an awesome experience as you are running away from the enemy base and you happen to find a double armor or nitro box.  Bingo, you are on your way.

If this was implemented, I can see where one person on the team could orchestrate their team's movement to an unfair advantage. The only way it could be kept fair is if the bird's eye view showed the structure of the map only (Blind Map). Example: placements of the buildings, bridges, holes, islands, etc. and maybe the placement of the flags and CP zones without showing any tanks at all.

Another unfair advantage would be if you are playing 1 vs 1. You could take a bird's eye view of the map to see where your opponent is.

And how is this different from conventional warfare?  Besides what is to stop both sides from having an individual as command and control?  So, yes, I can see some advantages to and against having such a feature.  Plus, it would be incentive for the opposing team to find the person who is the Command Post and eliminate them quickly and often.  Thus, keeping one side in a state of chaos.
