Reporting inapp. nicknames (for players under WO1)

Recommended Posts

Currently, the reporting feature is not permitted to be used for tankers below Warrant Officer 1 rank. If a tanker below this rank tries to report, they see this:

Sorry, we no longer accept reports from players with a rank below WO1. Please consider using the Ignore option instead.

With tons of accounts being created every single day, the everyday "noob" in tanki could possibly be the best tool against inappropriate nickname creation in the game and they're often the first to see them.

My suggestion is to disable reports from all tankers below WO1 but to allow them to report offensive nicknames only. This would cut down on the offensive and inappropriate nicknames being created everyday.

Well, your idea isn't bad at all - but still, the chat moderation team always has been and still does try NOT to chase bans whatsoever. Bans are meant to be issued for serious violations/reasons.

Players can still use the ignore option against inappropriate nicknames.

You can ignore a inappropriate nickname in chat, but that does not really do much, for a few reasons. 1) If a person is mature enough to spot an inappropriate phrase and block it, the profanity will not really effect them too much. It is the youngsters that need to not see the nickname. 2) We can still see the nickname in the battle in multiple places.

I was actually thinking about what mtbarden's idea is earlier today, and think that players under WO1 reporting inappropriate nicknames would be permissible.

That makes sense. Nicknames just seem like a bigger offense because literally everyone sees them.

There are tons of reasons like myself I would do the same exact thing tanki took 4 of my m3's for nothing FOR NOTHING and you know what they told me if i bring this issue up again it will be ignored so yea I DON'T Blame them at all All tho I love tanki and all but I stil got some hate for the admins..

Can't they develop a way to detect bad words and other misc. ways it is spelled.....just detecting it they could have a red X saying that name is not allowed please choose another.

We suggested to developers some kind of automatic system of recognition / declining of inappropriate nicknames long time ago, but nothing happened with it (obviously)

Such things should be solved with software solutions, not by moderating (see above)... we cannot fight a swarm with a single bullet, they have to be stopped differently.

There are many innappropriate nicknames that have already been "reserved" by the Tanki Team. If you search up a curse or type to someone with a curse in their name on chat the rank will usually be a recruit. I think that the devs set up these accounts so no actual player can use these names.

Ah that makes sense. So basically the Tanki Dev. team is going to come up with a censoring system like the current autoban situation. I see what you mean.
