You were probably lucky that you entered a battle after a crash/huge lag where all players got

removed/left from the battle and the battle fund just stayed.

 

You guys were the first to reenter and you hit the jackpot.

Now at least a Tanker got the fund, though really bad for the players who actually fought for it. :(
