Quickly switch teams in a battle

Recommended Posts

It would be nice to see a feature in the Team modes that would allow a player to quickly change sides when the battle is unbalanced.  For example:  The BLUE team has 10 players and the RED has two and the end of round early clock steps in counting backwards from :30.

If I wanted to be noble and defect to the weaker side.  I have to click close, click understanding that I am giving up battlefunds, then wait for the lobby, then click on the weaker side's join button, then wait to spawn in battle.  By this time it is quite possible for the battle in progress to end and guess what... I am in a new battle grossly out numbered because the remaining players of the weaker team left.

What do you think?

this would be a mean thing to do.you play for your team for a while then you join other team with your score, your previous team will get offended.

"Continue" is a great feature, it prevents you to take a slot while you're having a pee break at the end of the previous round.

As for the Switch button it's absolutely ridiculous. Whines will increase drastically if it is ever implemented and the chat will be even more painful to read ("you iz traitor!!!). Not to mention cheaters who won't use supplies and play at their fullest until they join their pal's team

I think you are missing the point of argument.  A switch button to be used in times when the other team is lacking team members i.e. player exodus.  This sets the game up to end early due to not enough or no players on the enemy side.  Now if a player, especially a good player, were to take up a noble act and switch sides to the "losing" (<- proper way to spell losing not loosing) team then that player should be rewarded not penalized for their defection.

At my rank, good players leave a battle right after the beginning when they figured out they've ended in a team full of campers, straight turrets and foolish combos. Wimps who get destroyed before they scored any point also leave straight away and

It's disgraceful how you hijack topics to try to make other players look bad. Is this part of the public humiliation I've been threatened with? :P

I see you coming with "players also leave because of noob druggers". No, these runners leave because they joined a battle with supplies enabled and don't have any to use against druggers (at least they don't whine loudly and piss off everyone).

One of the reasons many battles are unbalanced is indeed the huge difference in strength between supply users and those without supplies. But I don't think the idea suggested here will cure this..

Super idea.  But there should be two limits on switching:

You can't switch from a smaller team to a larger team.

You can't switch from a losing team to a winning team.

Good suggestions. But if they want to implement the idea they should do a experiment first. There could be issues that will only show up only after it is implemented.

...

My Compensation for Inactivity idea could be another solution to the problem this is aiming to solve.

Well, like I said in the first post, developers are planning to make it so that you can leave the battle and come back without losing your score. So I assume that will allow you to safely switch teams as well. I doubt that they will add an actual button to switch teams directly, but you never know...

So, here we are over a year later since we last spoke of this.  It was under review.  So, what's the deal?  Any word?

This might have created an issue if implemented 4 or more months ago.

One of the missions players had was "finish 1st on your team".  So some players would stick it out on the losing side if they had the high score on their team and would be able to complete the mission.  Imagine if someone from other side (with higher score - very likely since they are winning) then hit the button and moved over.  Now that previous first-place tanker is now 2nd place and possibly won't complete the mission.

Now they've changed that to top-3 winning team, so impact not same.

I'm on fence about being able to bring score if switching sides.
