Kit Review: Atlas

So this (in my opinion) is a long awaited review that has not showed up yet. So here is mine:

                                                      Kit Review: Atlas

The Tank:

Disclaimer: All this information is based on my experience, results will vary with skill.

Smoky M2: A very powerful turret indeed. Huge difference between M1 and M2.

You need to be experienced in order to use Smoky effectively, that means you must know how to rotate your turret.

Without supplies this turret is still OP and will tear anything in its way apart. Here is an example (Based off of my experience):

Without supplies:

Wasp:

M0: 1-2 shots

M1: 2-3 shots

M2: 2-4 shots

Hornet:

M1: 2-3 shots

M2: 3-4 shots

M3: 4-5 shots

With supplies:

Wasp

M0: 1 shot

M1: 1-2 shots

M2: 2-3 shots

Hornet:

M1: 1-2 shots

M2: 2 shots

M3: 2-3 shots

Titan M2: One of the strongest tank out there, also one of the slowest:

Most people have a problem with Atlas because of Titan. They usually do not want to be very slow. Titan's speed is not very bad, but it's not good either. So here are the pros and cons of Titan:

Pros:  Heavy armor, lots of  weight and pushing power, Gold boxes

Cons: Slow

Yes, that's right, Gold Boxes. See end of the article for more on that.

Loam:

Firebird —36%
Freeze —10%
Ricochet —10%
Thunder —10%

Loam is a great paint. You see lots of firebirds everywhere! Doesn't matter if its a Long range or short range, there is usually a firebird somewhere ( which can be MUed to 50% against firebird and about 16-17% for the rest)

Battles:

CTF: Atlas is a great Defender whether you're on a large or small map.

Large: Atlas is best defending here, but you could technically attack. If you did I recommend you have an Isida with you. If you do, not only do you have to protect yourself, but also the Isida.  If you are successful at taking and capturing the flag your score would shoot up sky high. This is because of the amount of tanks you destroy, and you also capturing the flag.

Small: Great choice for any small maps.

CP: For here I recommend you stay on the smaller maps as if you go on lager maps it will take you too long to get to each point.

Large: Don't do it, just don't. You will be too slow.

Small: one of the most FAQ about atlas is if it is good for Poly CP. The answer to that is YES. Smoky is an OP turret, Titan is a heavy hull with lots of pushing power, which is good for Golds, and Loam is an awesome paint (also good for golds).

DM: Atlas is a great choice for death match.

Without supplies:

Without supplies you are likely to place in the top 5 in a DM battle. If you are experienced with Smoky you should be able to get in the top 3.

With supplies:

With supplies Atlas is a beast, ready to devour anything in its path. With supplies you are almost certain to place in the top 2, most likely in 1st place.

Large Maps: Just make sure the battle is or will be full, otherwise you will be too slow to destroy anyone. This is also not the best place for catching Gold boxes.

Small Maps: One of the best (if not the best) places for Atlas. So many tanks for you to destroy, and so easy to take other people's kills.

Playing DM will also raise your K/D. I played Fire/Wasp in polygon for about 4-5 ranks. I didn't care about my K/D, I just cared about getting in the highest score on the scoreboard. <<< which by the way works great.

Once I got Atlas at   my K/D shot up quickly. It was at a .86 ratio, but now is almost at 1.00 (1.5 weeks)

Gold Boxes:

Yes, due to Titan's pushing power and armor, Atlas is great for catching Golds(See above for my catches so far of this and last week):

Many times people who get under the gold box will be destroyed before the gold can touch their tank and before they can use their repair. Not with Atlas! Firebird is one of the most annoying turrets when trying catching golds because of the after burn. well, this is not a big problem with Atlas because of the Loam paint.

Gold box tips:

Large Maps:

Remember: you only have 30 seconds!

#1 look at your health. If you have anything under 2/3 of health then you need to self destruct. If you have 2/3 or over then move on to next tip.

#2 Use Speed Boost first. You have enough armor for now, you need to find the drop zone.

#3 once available equip Double Armor. This is just in case you face some complications with a noob. <_<

#4 Timing is everything! Don't be the first to sit on the drop zone. In stead wait for someone else to to it. They will be targeted first.

#5 Push the tanks! If you have Speed Boost still equipped, then this should be easy.

#6 Don't push tread-to-tread with the tanks. This will make it harder to push them out of the way. Instead push from the side.

#7 Use your repair! Always keep at least 1 repair on you.

A kit I am interested, the other being Northerner. Very good job, and quite comprehensive.

Thanks. Whether you buy Northerner or Atlas, Smokey m2 is still OP.  Its just depends on the maps you play. If the maps you play have Shafts then go Northerner. If the maps you play have Firebird, then go Atlas. Go with the kit that offers the most useful protection for you, as you can always buy the hull later.

How would you say it compares in quality to some other strong M2 Kits, say Minotaur and Northerner? I appreciated the review very much, these are always useful for helping me decide what to buy.  :D

I got Vesuvius and later Atlas on alt , and trust me, it can give you 1200+ score in a Polygon CP 15 minute battle easily.

Again depends on your type of style

Nice article, Atlas has been in my long-term plan on my alt so far. Also, you have 30 seconds until the gold starts to drop, and another 15 until it hits the ground, so realistically, you have more like 40 seconds to get to the drop zone. But still your point of using a speed boost stands.

I do have 1 suggestion- try to make the article look a bit cleaner. Especially at the top, you have some things centered but not in line, then towards the bottom, your line spacing seems to be a bit different just between different paragraphs. I may just be seeing things though. To fix this, try typing everything out in a pm to yourself. Centering is a bit off between MS Word and the Tanki text editor.

Otherwise, keep it up!

A bit of formatting and grammatical mistakes here and there, but good job, keep it up!

Nice article! I suggest you to work with the formatting and make it a bit easier to read.

I'm a noob at this, please just give me some time :D

This guide was JAW DROPPING!! Absouloutly amazing and stunning! I've seen a lot of guides but this is of the best I've seen in a while. You deserve chicken :). The guide is short, normally I prefer long guides but I think a short one is the right way to go for this one. It had a great use of colors and pictures, not too much not too little.(I don't know how to do pics so if you could show me, that would be great! ;)) It even had good additional tips that weren't long and boring. I love the mini Gold Hunting section too! I'm a fellow guide maker as well so I'd love to see you make more kit reviews.
