  Hey guys,

Welcome back to another piece on a guide to mastering Rio. By far, Rio is my favorite map, and boy-oh-boy, people really do play in it! At peak hours, there can even be 10-15 Rio battles on the server in which I play daily! Anyways, this topic will cover all types of combinations and teams you can use in Rio, and this is all based on my experience over the past year.

RED TEAM

OFFENSE WITH SHORT RANGED WEAPONS

When attacking the Blue base, It's easy to have the offensive in Rio with short range weapons on Rio. Equip a medium hull, preferably a hornet or hunter, take a firebird or freeze, charge at the team on the beach road, take a few mid or long range allies that can finish the enemies on this road, turn 'round the corner, quickly grab the flag, retreat, and even if there are enemies near the flag, use the freeze to slow them down, and speed back, take the route that goes between the buildings, and go back to your base. Sly, right?

DEFENCE WITH SHORT RANGED WEAPONS

Defense is not very good with a short range on the red team, though you could try hiding on the ramp that takes you from the beach road to your base, lie in wait, and then when the enemy comes, finish him. But beware, enemies might try to sneak up on you too!

OFFENCE WITH LONG RANGE WEAPONS

If you have a Shaft, you'll rock, especially in night-time. You can hide in a secluded corner of the beach, and use your scope to  snipe out enemies using the highway, on your base, and also the beach road.  but be careful, don't expose your laser too long, or some i d i o t will take it in his mind to try and kill you, and lo behold! Your sniping space will be discovered.

With a railgun, it is fairly easy. You can take the elevated platform on the main road for a camping spot, and snipe out the main road and the enemy base, but this will expose you to the enemy spawn point nearby, or you could stand on your base and snipe the mail road. this also provides you with protection against the enemy, because you can always hide behind the pillars. The place behind the concrete block on the beach road is also useful.

You can also tilt yourself on the ramp that leads to the last most highways building to snipe out the spawners on the platform behind the enemy base, and other nearer spawn points. This place also works very well with ricochet, because of the bounce back effect.

As for other long and mid range turrets, you can use the same spots as the railgun.

DEFENCE WITH LONG RANGE WEAPONS

You can hide on the main road elevated platform, or on the ramp that leads to your base from the beach roas to defend your camp.

OFFENCE WITH SHORT RANGED WEAPONS

You can try offence through the ramp that leads to the enemy base from the beach road, go barging in, take the flag, and speed out of there. The good thing is that this will be a surprising attack for the enemy. you can also prey on the enemy snipers that hide on the main road platform easily.

DEFENSE WITH SHORT RANGED WEAPONS

You can try defense by  hiding under the ramp on the first or second levels and shoot at the enemies when they arrive at your camp using the highways. You can skin along the base camp's wall that faces opposite to the beach road, so you can kill enemies that come through the beach road.

OFFENCE WITH LONG RANGE WEAPONS

The place on the starting of the highways route gives you a clear spot of killing all enemies on the enemy base, and the rafters on he main road also work well.

DEFENSE WITH LONG RANGE WEAPONS

The shaft camping spot technique also works well, and hiding on the main road rafters.

That's it for today, guys! I hope ill be back with another tutorial!

Nice article, quite well written and I enjoyed the strategic thought behind it at all!

My only issues were there were a few spelling errors, and one really run-on sentence that was hard to follow.

Could you point out the errors? I'd like to have them cleared up so people can read the guide correctly.

Sorry, but it seems the editor posted the content BEFORE I rectified it. Didn't seem to notice the mistakes back then, but now I've cleared it all up.

Good job. But the tactics you told us can barely be followed, let alone carried out in our rank battles. The chances of being a Shaft and not being hit at the second you pop out your laser is 0.00001%  :P

Also, a friendly suggestion, try to take pictures in Full-screen mode and then crop out the timers, drugs and experience bar. GL!

Suggestion; try using the type of turret you mentioned in your article, instead of AP. Besides that, a good first attempt. Guides are quite hard to do.
