Movable parts in maps

A basic idea: Have a movable platform in maps.

I was playing some classic games(like 20th century games) I found in my basement and I was surprised to find moving platforms in the games(Nintendo 64 stuff) since they were so old. Then I logged on to tanki and I realized that such an advanced and complex game doesn't have moving platforms. Moving platforms can make a lot of ideas for new maps and a new concept to gameplay.

I don't expect the flash tanki to have this but this should definitely be in Tanki X...

If you think that this idea goes against physics and reality then look at ricochet or how railgun can shoot through tanks but not buildings.

1 word... Lag

Tanki is already laggy enough for those without a decent computer. This would just put more stress it.

Then maybe accept my idea what havent been accepted yet?

Is there any solution of lag I think no then why not try this.

Most MMOs generally don't have movable parts in their maps and even if they do, it's something as basic as opening of doors when a player approaches(uberstrike) or 2-3 chickens running around on map that spawn randomly(CSGO).

Anything more complex would adversely affect fps unless you have a really good PC.

Therefore, don't expect movable parts in Tanki or any other MMO.

If you experience low fps, go to your settings and uncheck the following boxes:

1. Adaptive fps

2. Mip mapping

3. Skybox.

I can assure you that you won't experience too many fps problems after doing this.

Ok but the players would easily make ramps and go on the buildings and say we did parkour and also the places for gold will change

Tanki X only has 6 maps that are in Flash Tanki so not that many gold zones will change. Plus, the platforms in the map will serve a purpose(like elevating to the enemy flag area), not random parkour places.

Please don't use the infamous "it will cause lag" argument to criticise an idea. In this section we simply come up with cool ideas and share things that we would like to see added to the game, as well as discuss how they could be improved to better fit gameplay and other aspects of the game.

Technicalities such as the amount of time it will take to develop, the lag it may cause and whether or not it's at all possible is not up to us to determine :)

Maybe you could tick a box saying "Moving platforms" before pressing a play button. This would solve that issue, as players who want this feature can have it, but players who have lag can choose not to.

I'd imagine disabling moving platforms would affect game play . . .

So here's a question, if there is a door that opens and closes on its own, what happens when you park a tank in its path? Will you die or will you just be glitches?

The door would simply remain open if the tank is there. It's like those automatic sliding doors at supermarkets. It will be open as long as something is in the way.

But what if the door doesn't remain open, then what would happen?

it must remain open, assuming no glitches occur. If a glitch occurs, then, well, it would actually cause some weird things to happen.

but if you mean like a door that can kill you if you don't get out of a way, yes, maybe we can add one that will kill you if you fail get through in time.

I don't know if it's possible in TO but it'd be a really fun idea I think.

In some places on the maps you must pay close attention to both your surroundings, aswell as the enemies...

One obstacle could be a spinning bridge, shaped like a cylinder. To drive across it you need to compensate for its spinning with your steering to not fall off. Occasionally it starts to spin in the opposite direction, so watch out!

Seesaw-like bridges react to the tank's weight with realistic physics, making it necessary to balance on it and make it move the right way to get across.

Elevators could be simple platforms that just moves automatically in a simple way, up and down, like to the roof of a building.

Rotating floors could be areas on the maps where there's very useful protective walls set up, useful to hide behind and shoot, but the floor ocassionally turns around, exposing all the tanks there to the enemy fire.

Parts of the floor could also rotate vertically, so that what was the walls on a part of a map become the floor, before changing back to being the walls!

Automatic hazards could be thing like automatic flamethrowers, spikes, saws, hammers etc on the map, which move automatically all the time, sometimes starting, which makes it not possible to use certain paths on the map at certain times.
