Mines should have splash damage

So i guess the downside here is just doing this for fun, but that can also be helpful. The cost of mines might have to be raised.

Well for those who have alot of mines bought already?

A mine doesn't cause  a huge explosion like in the cartoons.

Depending on the type, usually it's power comes from either explosives (As in anti-tank mines.) or shrapnel. (As in anti-infantry mines.)

The explosion itself is usually (Big shocker here.) UNDER the tank, therefore most of the force is distributed under there and very little is sent elsewhere.

Well if you touch mine only with edge of your hull. Realy small part of it. Mine will damage only you but not that one, who was right next to mine.

It also usually isn't used to completely destroy the tank, usually just to detread or incapacitate it so that infantry can move in and take out the crew.

More than anything, mines are used to deter the enemy from a specific location for any number of reasons.

If it were to have enough power to completely destroy the tank, it would either have to be a highly-compressed and precise shot or a huge explosive. The latter would ruin the surrounding terrain severely, so it's straight out. And the highly-compressed shot to the fuel tank would be too complex to make, it would rely on the tank being in EXACTLY the right place and would require knowledge of the design of the tank.

Simply put, because this game is meant to be arcade-y and unrealistic the "mines" as we call them are more of highly-explosive cookies than traditional anti-tank mines.

I still think this is a horrible idea . a team lays 6 or so mines at the point in Polygon CP and runs .the enemy team go's to the point thinking of an easy cap .and their entire team gets wiped out in 5 seconds cause of splash damage mines.... no

Under review

Well, real life mines don't have that much damage in a radius, especially anti-tank ones. Besides, you wouldn't even get that much from this if it was implemented. I mean, how often do you get 2 tanks really close to one another and one of them goes over a mine?

This idea does seem realistic...but then again, you have a very valid point.

Umm... Yeah I've seen mines in action and they aren't just birthday candle being blown out. They blow up giving splash damage.

But not that big radius. The splash damage they have can not destroy or damage a tank...only if the 2 tanks are going literally close.

Hmmm.... Then I think Tanki should add a special feature to the mine. It kills anyone near the mine. If I'm behind my teammate and he goes on a mine then I die too or at least Take damage.

i think mines mines should a small kill radius so setting one off would do some splash damage to the neighbouring tank or introduce a claymore type mine so that driving though a laser line could set the mine off such as setting one at the entrance to a arch or ontop of a hill? the type of mine could also be selected in the garage so you could select standard style mine or claymore where the explosion is set at a certain direction
