Mines should have splash damage

i think mines mines should a small kill radius so setting one off would do some splash damage to the neighbouring tank or introduce a claymore type mine so that driving though a laser line could set the mine off such as setting one at the entrance to a arch or ontop of a hill? the type of mine could also be selected in the garage so you could select standard style mine or claymore where the explosion is set at a certain direction

I think there should be a module for Magnum to shoot cluster bombs. There are several mines in a "neat little package." When the "package" reaches a certain (preset) height, the mines disperse over a wide area and set themselves when they impact the ground. Boy!! You talk about a game changer..... :) By the way, I hate Magnums.

Well, real life mines don't have that much damage in a radius, especially anti-tank ones. Besides, you wouldn't even get that much from this if it was implemented. I mean, how often do you get 2 tanks really close to one another and one of them goes over a mine?

first of all i get loads of tanks together when theres a gold dropping and i place a few mines on the drop zone? not to mention when we have 3 of 4 tanks coming to get our flag in lost temple?

second of all this is a game not real life otherwise we wouldnt have nano bots healing or destroying tanks such as with isidia? or have plasma weapons like ricochet?

Plasma weapons? Sure! We will have them very soon, if not already!

Nanobots? Work in progress! :D

Pretty sure we have plasma weapons

Nope, not yet, but is in the workings. We have plasma torches for cutting steel and concrete, but not powerful enough to use as a weapon.

Why?

Because SPLASH damage is also self damage.

So if you want SPLASH damage on mines, then if a tank triggers the mine when you are close to it then you should suffer splash damage as well.

me-thinks all the campers in Tanki won't be happy with this.  All the shafts and magnums that surround their nest with mines will die when a fire approaches.

What i wouldnt mind is if mines had schrapnel. Just like hammer.... that would be realistic

Actually Hammer is highly unrealistic, There's a reason no anti-tank weapon was ever built around grapeshot. Tanks were invented to protect against things like bullets and shrapnel. There's no realism to giving mines splash damage. But there doesn't have to be realism. This is a game.

From a game design POV I don't see a reason for this. It would not be the end of all that is Holy but I am not thrilled at teh idea.

Nope and nope. Laser weapons are becoming operational. So are railguns. But plasma ball launchers are still nothing but sci fi right now. And if they are ever built the balls are not going to bounce off walls. :)

Twins has splash damage, Striker has splash damage, Thunder has splash damage, Magnum has splash damage, Ricochet alteration has splash damage, mines should have splash damage . . . things are going to be really splashy in battles.

Now I am starting to like the idea. Puts a sort of self-limiting factor to the tactic. Even more so if mine splash damage triggers other mines in the radius. Now the fun begins. :)

It could of should be either way.. Players would adapt to any reasonable system. Right now mines are definitely useful. I dont think many people want them less useful.

Yeah - after typing that I was thinking... wait a second - this could work out great.

After due consideration, I now fully endorse the idea of splash damage for mines.

Make it so!

Read the whole thread.  Good arguments for and against.

I think the best option would just be to keep mines as they are, and make a "anti-armor mine" available in the garage for crystals or real money, with more damage and splash damage.  Good for taking out larger groups of attackers

Perhaps even a third type, an "electric mine" that activates others all others in the (40 m)vicinity but does not go away when the setter is killed.

If the problem is campers than the solution is to nerf the weapons, not the mines.

Self explanatory. It wouldnt harm mines being 200% bigger with a bit of an area damage and a better explosion effect. Their damage is fine, i wouldnt touch it.

nah, making them bigger will make them more visible and people can easily detect them and Prevent being blasting. What can be done is to making their trigger radius and splash radius bigger.
