The Mysterious War

Recommended Posts

It's freezing cold outside. I wrap my arms around me, trying to keep myself warm. They asked for war, and that's what they get. I've been waiting my whole life for this moment. The moment humanity will be destroyed, by themselves. I shiver slightly as I watch the snow cover the dead bodies. “We will all die, and so will you.” I turn around to face the guy who's been following me for three days straight. He remains silent. “You don't have to follow me around like a little puppy following its mama.” “I'm just doing my job, protecting you.” I shake my head. “No need to, we will all die anyway.”

“Wait!” He yells, as soon as I walk away. “I'm scared. Could you please hold my hand?” I raise my eyebrows and scowl at him. “You're eighteen, you can perfectly care for yourself.” “B-but,” he stutters. I grab his hand, afraid he will cry if I don't. “Don't bother me,” I hiss. We arrive at an open field. I can feel the tension in the air, like a bomb is about to explode. “Walk a little faster, I feel something bad is going to happen here.” “But I am so tired, can't we rest for a while?” I ignore him and drag him along. “If I had to run for my life, I'd rather die.” he nags.

Just pretend you're tough. Are you gonna cry when they have come to kill you? You are the one who's supposed to protect me, not vice v-” Mid-sentence, we get blown into the air and land with a loud smack onto the ground.

“Are you missing any limbs?” I jokingly ask. She shakes her head. “Boys,” she sighs. I smile and lean in for a kiss, but she pushes me away. “It's not the time for romance now. I don't know about you, but I am trying to stay alive.” Man, she's bossy. Ordering me around like a little kid. I might have behaved like that, but I know exactly what I have to do. Normally, I hate it when people tell me what to do, but when she does that, I feel attracted to her. “It's getting dark, we should find a place to rest.” “Maybe over there?” I point to a half destroyed house with barely a roof. “It's better than nothing.” she says, and lies down. I install myself next to her and take her in my arms. “We should get to know each other better,” she says and I kiss her passionately. “Yes, we definitely should,” I whisper before she falls asleep.

I wake up in his strong, muscular arms. It gives me a safe, warm feeling. At first, he behaved a little childish, but his caring side opened my eyes. He's a keeper, someone I trust. He opens his eyes the moment my lips touch his. “We should move on,” I say, “or else they will find us.” I walk out of the ruin and bump into another girl. I haven't seen another human until now. She looks absolutely gorgeous, her eyes are so bright and her skin is flawless. “Hey, watch where you are going!” She says. I can tell she's pissed off, but when she sees my boyfriend, she smiles flirty at him. I tighten my grip on his hand, afraid I will lose him to her. “Baby, let's go,” I say.

He doesn't move or says anything, but only stares at her. “Or you can come with me,” she says, and sweeps her hair. He remains silent again, but I feel his grip on my hand loosen. My voice starts to tremble. “No, please don't let me down, I need you. We still need to get to know each other. Don't leave me when I need you the most!” “I'm sorry, is all he says, and walks away with her, leaving me behind, alone. I feel empty inside. The person I trusted turned his back to me. I no longer can hold back the tears. I looked forward to this day. I haven't celebrated it for years, but this time it would have been different. He would have made me feel special again. But she ruined it. “Happy birthday to yourself,” I mutter, before a bullet pierces my heart.

We walk on and on for hours without knowing where we're going. “Who was that girl, who bumped into me actually?” Silence. “It looked like you've known her your whole life, and yet you've chosen me over her.” “Look, just be happy I'm here with you know and don't ask any questions, okay?” I walk a little faster to remove myself from her. “But...” “No.” “When you...” “NO! I said no, so keep quiet!” She catches up with me again. “Gosh, you don't need to be so mad. You remind me of an old, grumpy grandpa.” I ignore her. She's really annoying and pissing me off. “Hey, someone made a hole in my favourite shirt!” I stand still and look at the sky for a moment. “We have to find a safe place, now.” “Why?” She looks at me with those big, not-so-intelligent eyes. “Don't you get it? They can fire bullets without us able to hear. We have to hide right now. Over there, go to the ruin over there.” “It makes no sense. If They wanted to kill me, they would have done that already.” I angrily push her into the ruin. Jeez, being the tough one surely is tiring. “What is wrong with you? You're in such a bad mood. I don't see here any danger.” “That's your problem: you don't see danger, you feel it.” Her face is terrified. “Can't we play a game, like truth or dare?” I raise my eyebrows. “Fine.” “Okay, I start! Truth or dare?” she looks at me with excitement. “Ehm...Truth.” “Who is that girl and how do you know her?” Oh God, here we go again. I sigh deeply before answering. “That's Louise. She's 2 years younger than me. Her birthday is on the...” I pause for a second, feeling embarrassed for forgetting her birthday. I sink to my knees, ashamed. It was yesterday, when I left her. My eyes start to tear up. “It was yesterday.” My voice trembles and I blink a few times. “Okay... And how do you know her?” I turn away from her, to avoid her judging look. “It's my sister.” “What did you say?!” “She is my sister okay!” I yell frustrated. “Oh I heard you loud and clear, I just can't believe it. I thought you guys were together.” “Because we were. She doesn't know I'm her brother. We've lived apart for years. But that's why she felt this deep connection between me and her, we share blood. I felt like I had to protect her, but instead, I let her down.” “Awww sweetness, I can understand why you prefer me. I'm like a unicorn and she's like a fat, ugly, dirty pig who's up to no good! She understands it too.” “I... I didn't want to leave her. But somehow, my body didn't want to listen to my brain. It felt like I was enchanted.” “Enchanted by my gorgeousness, yes. Now that I think of it, we don't even know each other's name. Mine is Talitha, what's yours?” I'm so fed up with her. I'm going back to find Louise. I get up and walk away. “Hey, where are you going? Why do you leave me? Don't go!” I ignore her and keep on running, away from her.

I run as fast as I can. It was a mistake to suddenly go away. I know where he's going, or actually who he's going to. I'll always be one step ahead of him. He's smart, but I'm smarter. “Trace him,” I command. I run, faster now, knowing I'm close. So close.

so I've been really busy and I'm not able to finish this story... so my idea was that one of you posts a part 3 and I choose the best one and put it as the official part three? If you guys would like to? If I have to do it myself it could take a long time...
