Do you like to break things? Paint things? Graffiti things? Hopefully you don't in real life, but if you enjoy any of those activities in TO, this contest is for you!

Simply put, the objective of this contest is to use shot marks left by turrets on the environment to draw something. Do you want to draw a meme? A portrait? Text? The Mona Lisa? Those are all fine. Even "BLAME THE NS" is fine. The possibilities are limited only by how many buddies you're able to get together and coordinate, how quickly you can draw your art, your imagination...

oh, and the rules too.

Rules

  • Vulgar, profane, or otherwise inappropriate submissions are not allowed.
  • Once you're done with your masterpiece, take a screenshot and upload it to an image hosting site (like imgur.com). Then, post it here, either as a link to the screenshot or as an image hidden by spoiler tags.
  • Take another screenshot immediately afterwards with the full battle window visible and the scoreboard up. Upload and hold onto this one- you don't necessarily have to post it here, but I will want to see it if I'm considering your entry.
  • List everyone who participated in making your drawing.
  • Don't reserve posts, they'll just get hidden.
  • Try not to make your image too big. If it's larger than the width of the forum or really tall, link it instead of posting it here and spoilering it.
  • 2 submissions per person are allowed, but only 1 submission per person can win.
  • I suggest that you take additional images of your drawing from multiple angles if possible and hold on to them. I trust you guys to not try to photoshop drawings in this contest, but I reserve the right to ask for proof if something looks fishy.

I'm going to be mostly looking for complexity, difficulty, and creativity. Think outside the box.

Prizes

Everybody loves prizes. In this contest, I encourage you to use multiple people to facilitate creating more complex pieces of art, but I also don't want overkill- use only as many teammates as you need. As such, the prize amounts will be a little unorthodox for this contest. Each winning submission will get a flat sum of crystals plus a bonus amount of crystals per team member, to be evenly divided between participants. Consolation prizes will just receive a flat sum. I might adjust the values in the future if deemed necessary since this is a prize model that hasn't been done before.

1st Place: 30,000 crystals + 5,000 per team member

2nd Place: 20,000 crystals + 4,000 per team member

3rd Place: 15,000 crystals + 3,000 per team member

Consolation Prize: 10,000 crystals

Suggestions

The following turrets will leave shot marks on the environment and can be used for your art.

  • Hammer- numerous small marks, good if you want to have random small dots, but rather difficult to aim.
  • Twins- light burn marks with decent size. You can repeatedly fire at the same spot for increased darkness, but they fade quickly. Hard to use.
  • Smoky- good sized, furrowed marks at a rapid pace. Not terribly difficult to use.
  • Thunder- large, dark burn marks with slight furrowing. Not that hard to use.
  • Railgun- small, dark marks. Similar to those of Smoky, but more irregular. Takes some practice to place shots accurately.
  • Shaft- medium sized, dark holes. Easiest to use out of all these turrets for art purposes due to the scope mode and will probably make the bulk of your drawings.

You can also use some mines in your drawing if you really need/want too, but don't go overboard with them. Your art should be primarily made of shot marks.

Remember that shot marks will fade after a while, which is why you'll need others to help you if you want to make complex drawings.

If you feel like having Firebird flames or Freeze spray with your image would be visually impressive, that's fine. Or any other type of shot, really.

You can draw on any surface you want as long as the art is clearly visible and it's big enough. Walls, large props, and even the ground are fair game.

The game will start disappearing shot marks more quickly if there are too many objects on the map. I haven't confirmed all of these factors experimentally, but it seems like having too many players, too many supply boxes, or playing on too large of a map can impact the duration of your art. Basically, try to keep things minimal.

Make sure everyone is present (including any Spectators) before you start drawing. Otherwise, players joining in late will not be able to see any shot marks created before they entered the battle.

Alright, that's about it. If you're interested, go out there and make a cool piece of artwork. This contest will be open until August 26, so you've got a lot of time to get started. Good luck.

Done some experimentation and shaft fades after just 10 shots, not much scope (excuse the pun ) for drawing with one tank.

Try to run Tanki with Standalone flashplayer. In some cases the performance of the game increases and maybe u will even see the marks :)

Am I allowed to use two of my accounts for this project? The one which is now my main account doesn't have Shaft, and I don't want to buy it because my only choice is to get Shaft M1, but the other account I intend on using does have it.
