A few swimming finals today.. good to see the 'Iron Lady' Katinka Hosszu win gold..

Hagino, Sun Yang, Dwyer, Chad Le Clos, Phelps in contention today

Indian Jitu Rai lost in 10m air pistol finals and women's archery team lost to Russia in QF

Dattu Bhokanal in rd-16 in single sculls

Disappointing show by India in tennis doubles and table tennis singles though

Likewise, Yugoslavia was split into multiple nations.

About medals and titles of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Yes, players from all six republics contributed. I agree with that.

But...

Olympic Games: 1996 - silver medal

FibaWorld Cup: 1998 - gold, 2002 - gold, 2014 - silver

FibaEuroBasket: 1995 - gold, 1997 - gold, 2001 - gold, 2009 - silver, 1999- bronze

Take a look at these^ squads of Yugoslavia / Serbia. And then take a look from where these players are, where they were born - mate

What do you guys think about Jevimova participating in Rio? Do you think it's justified?

Well I think it's well deserved that she got booed yesterday.

She's a very bad ideal for the next generation of swimmers. Young swimmers now may think that doping won't be punished so bad.

As Rūta Meilutytė fan I think that it's not fair, Yulia had to be punished...

All those squads were after Yugoslavia was split up. Im looking at Yugoslavians who made the FIBA World Cup All-Tournament Team. I'm going to put their name, year, and what their modern nation would be.

Radivoj Korać-1967-Serbia

Ivo Daneu-1967-Slovenia

Krešimir Ćosić – 1970, 1978-Croatia
Vinko Jelovac – 1974-Croatia
Dražen Dalipagić – 1978-Bosnia and Herzegovina
Dragan Kićanović – 1978, 1982-Serbia
Dražen Petrović – 1986-Croatia
Vlade Divac – 1990-Serbia
Toni Kukoč – 1990-Croatia

Croatia-4
Serbia-3
Slovenia-1
Bosnia and Herzegovina-1

Here are the players who made a FIBA EuroBasket All-Tournament Team

Krešimir Ćosić – 1969, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1979-Croatia

Ivo Daneu – 1969-Slovenia

Dražen Dalipagić – 1975, 1977, 1981-Bosnia and Herzegovina

Dragan Kićanović – 1979, 1981-Serbia

Dražen Petrović – 1985, 1989-Croatia

Žarko Paspalj – 1989-Montenegro

Dino Rađa – 1989-Croatia

Vlade Divac – 1991-Serbia

Toni Kukoč – 1991-Croatia

Croatia-4
Serbia-2
Slovenia-1
Bosnia and Herzegovina-1
Montenegro-1

Here is the Yugoslavian roster for the 1970 FIBA World Championships

Ratomir Tvrdić-Croatia

Ljubodrag Simonović-Serbia

Vinko Jelovac-Croatia

Trajko Rajkovićp-Serbia

Aljoša Žorga-Slovenia

Dragan Kapičić-Serbia

Ivo Daneu-Slovenia

Krešimir Ćosić-Croatia

Damir Šolman-Croatia

Nikola Plećaš-Croatia

Dragutin Čermak-Serbia

Petar Skansi-Croatia

Head Coach: Ranko Žeravica.-Serbia

Croatia-6
Serbia-5
Slovenia-2

So ya Serbia had a much bigger impact on the Yugoslavian teams then Montenegro and Slovenia but not Croatia. I didn't know that Serbia and Croatia were this good historically.

I think all of the Russians should have been banned. It's not like the athletes were drugging on their own. Russian anti doping agencies were providing the drugs and helping cover up positive tests for the athletes. Even if some of the athletes hadn't cheated, the Russian federation should have been punished for helping and encouraging their athletes to cheat.

But, I was talking about medals and titles won after 1991, not before.

Yesterday evening I've watched the female artistic gymnastics' team finals and, having practiced gymnastics myself for quite some years, all respect goes to the team of the USA and in particular to Simone Biles. It was pure enjoyment to see her perform her routines with such joy, self-confidence and perfection, heavenly. The elements she performs are of the highest difficulty and she does it with seemingly no difficulty. I've said that she's the best gymnast of all time so many times I lost counting. I could keep talking about her incredibly wonderful performance.

Belgian update: Our hockey team, the Red Lions, have defeated the world's number one, namely Australia. :D

India defeated Argentina in men's hockey! :D

Meanwhile, Dipa Karmarkar entered artistic gymnastics final and Atanu Das entered round of 16 in men's archery singles but now faces a stern task in the form of the mighty South Koreans.

I've heard of her. Isn't she the first Indian gymnast to perform at the Olympics and isn't she the one who performs to most difficult routine on the apparatus vault of all female gymnasts?

I hope she ends up on the podium and adds to India's nonexistent medal tally. -_-
