How does the kill-assistance feature work?

How does the kill-assistance feature work? All I know (please correct me if I am wrong) is that:

- one receives 10 points (battle score) for killing an enemy (more if he is carrying flag, but that's a different story),

- if one player takes 40% of the enemy's health and another player takes 60% of the enemy's health, the first one receives 4 points and the other one receives 6 points,

- if a damaged enemy picks up a repair box, uses repair from his garrage supplies or is repaired by an Isida, the "counter" is reset (players, who damaged this tank before it got repaired, do not receive score/experience after this tank is destroyed by other players).

I am missing something (or there is a bug), because sometimes I do not get score/experience for assisting in destroying an enemy tank. In most cases it happens when I damage an enemy, the enemy kills me and then my teammate comes and finishes off the enemy. And I am sure that the enemy did not use a repair kit, because I can see him even after my tank was destroyed.

Took me a good 5 minutes to find this

http://tankionline.com/en/2014/11/improving-the-game/

Um, didn't find an answer to my question there. I am also not sure if all the information is up-to-date, since for example regular battles cannot be 5 or 10 minutes long. Unless you are referring to the "10 seconds" rule? But even then, I am not sure if the time period between me dying and teammate killing enemy is always bigger than 10 seconds.

I think it has something to do with the percentage of damage you've dealt to the victim, but I'm not sure.

Well, if my damage was really small (2%), then I could of course expect no score/experience. But sometimes I am sure that my damage was significant.

If multiple players damage an opponent, the opponent is worth 15 points when being destroyed. These 15 points will be divided over all the players that damaged the opponent, depending on the amount of damage each of the players inflicted. If only one player damages and destroyes an opponent, the opponent is worth only 10 points.

This would be the 10 second window between you doing damage and a teammate destroying the opponent.

If you're sure it took less than 10 seconds between the time you damaged an opponent and your teammate destroyed the enemy, take a video with proof and report it in the Bugs & Glitches topic.

It's all based on the amount of damage that is being dealt. If you and your teammates are shooting one Mammoth Vulcan with 2 Isidas behind it and you take over a minute to destroy him and deal something like 2000 damage, there will still be 15 points distributed between you all, based on what % of that damage you dealt.

He means that he damaged a tank but it got killed later and he didn't receive score. It's the game's feature (sadly) that if the enemy you damaged does not die in 10-15 seconds, you don't get score for it. Wonder why? No idea as it's pointless and dumb.

I think I remember DM battles being different. Are they not?

They are indeed. In DM, every player is worth 10 points when being destroyed. Only the player that destroys an opponent will receive points, no matter how much damage other players did to the tank before it got destroyed.

There is of course a bug which causes your gun to sometimes not deal any damage at all. Happens to me frequently. The mods don't like to talk about it.

That happens when you join a battle while your pc is running other programs at the same time. Refreshing, rejoining or getting killed solves the problem.

For me it happens more in big maps and happens always when I open another window (like Skype) while my battle is loading.

This bug can indeed make it seem like the kill assistance feature isn't working.
