Glitch? Lag? What happened?

I'm playing the Brest map on red team. Three man teams. Red team has three players, blue team shows 3 players, but one is a ghost and I never saw the other, though he had kill points.

I have the blue flag and the player on blue has ours. I'm in the gully near our base next to the bridge. I can see the blue player with our flag on our upper level. I'm hugging the wall at the end of the gully and have to turn my turret and sometimes my tank in order to keep an eye on our flag, to make sure he isn't coming down after me.

My team mates have tried several times to kill him, but he kills them as they go up the ramp. Finally, after several tries, they manage to kill him and return the flag. I come up the ramp, still holding the flag. As I enter our base I hear the sound of the flag being lost. And sure enough, I don't have the flag. I go back to see where it is and my team mate picks it up half way back down the gully near the over pass.

How is that possible? I have seen flags dropped by other players, but not to the extent where they travel a distance and then find the flag several feet in back of them. I had been moving my tank and turret, I know I had the flag just before entering the building. I had 100% health and was never shot. It seems I was down there for a couple minutes. My fps was a steady 60, ping between 48-50. Browser: Microsoft Edge (this seemed to be holding the fps and ping more steadily than Firefox. Firefox was bouncing all over the place and a lot of lag). I checked and was using the latest version.

I've never seen a lag take nearly two minutes to catch up. I didn't have any lags before that event, nor anytime after.

Thank you for answering my query. I understand lag, but what I don't  understand is how it can take almost 2 minutes for it to catch up and why it happened just as I was entering the building.

If I understand you correctly, that means I lagged and lost the flag by the overpass 2 minutes ago. Somehow that just boggles my mind. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying my brain doesn't "compute."

2 minutes is indeed too much. It usually happens to me after 30-40 seconds. Has this happened before?

I've had bad lag on Firefox, but when i lost the flag, it was a short distance behind me and I could usually pick it right back up again. No, I have never had this happen to me before on any browser. Not this much of a lag.

Brother it was a lag, either of a ping or o server but as you are saying 2 minutes it was your Ping Lag,but when you say your ping is 48-50 it makes more complicated...because Tanki's server lag is not till 2 minutes,it is just too much,

-Are you sure your ping was 49-50,always..?

I didn't keep a constant eye on fps and ping. I was more worried about being discovered. However, I had always played on Firefox and had gotten in the habit of glancing down in the corner for fps and ping, especially if I noticed any glitches or if someone else looked like they were lagging. So, if I have an idle moment, I do glance down. While I was down in the gully, I glanced down several times, even though I was using a different browser. Every time I looked, the fps was a steady 60 and ping was slowly fluctuating between 48-50.

I may not have been down there for a full 2 minutes, but certainly a lot longer than 30-40 seconds, as MOD lordmostafa cited. After all, my team mates made at least 5 attempts before overpowering the other team member.

Sorry, I just realized I logged in today under a different account. Yesterday, I was playing Widow-Maker. Today, I'm playing Artificial-Intel for the missions.
