Why does gold drop whenever, not when the battle fund is at 700, it sucks now and I don't see many now...

The Gold Box mechanism was changed to prevent mults waiting in battles until the fund reaches 700. They would just wait until the Gold drops, unfortunately take it and then leave in the hope of finding another battle which is below 700 fund. The current drop rate is 1/10000 i.e., every time the fund increases by 1, there is a 0.0001% chance of the Gold Box to drop.

 

If you look into I&S Section Rules, ideas regarding reverting the game to its previous type are not taken, and hence, this will never come back into the game.
