what rubbish

If you could elaborate on your comment, then we might be able to get valuable feedback from it, which would maybe help us improve the feature even more. Much as I would love to help you, unfortunately "what rubbish" doesn't really give us much to go on.

A lot of points were raised in this topic http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=320953

And suggestions by some were added which were ignored except a very few.

Please don't give too much wait to the old thread. Things might have changed between then and now. Let's stick to what's in this announcement, and if further clarification is required (and I'm sure you all have some very valid questions), we'll post them in here.

Moderators will also be curating an FAQ section and adding to it as we start answering the most... wait for it... frequently asked questions  :D

This is still somewhat confusing.

I have Emerald, which gives 42 protection against Thunder, 27 against Twins, and 10 against Railgun. If I am correct, I will be able to purchase a trio module for this paint, but the trio must have protection against Thunder, Twins, and Railgun. Or can it be any of the trio modules, like 42 against Fire, 27 against Ricochet, and 10 against Freeze?

I've got some screens from the test server.

So the looks and the protections are completely separated and you must buy them separately.

I think it can be any of the trios. :)

Very cool update, just one question:  Why would some paints become more expensive when all that is happening to them is the removal of their protection?

Cedric?

Tankers!

If you’ve been following the official Tanki Online channels, you probably know that our programmers have been working on a very important update codenamed «Disintegration». With this update, all paints will be separated into two elements — Paint Elements (purely visual, with no protection whatsoever) and Protection Modules (purely for protective purposes).

The great news is that the wait is over, and the update will be in the game tomorrow!

Key points you need to know

  • This update will affect ALL existing paints. That includes the paints in your garage.

  • As explained above, all of your paints will be separated into their respective Paint Element and Protection Module.

  • Any micro-upgrades you may have on your existing paints will be transferred —exactly as they are— to the Protection Module.

  • You will be able to combine any Paint Element with any Protection Module.

An example

Let’s say you have the “Tiger” paint in your garage, with 35/50 micro-upgrades. With this update, your Tiger paint will be separated into:

  • A Paint Element with a tiger pattern (and no protection), and

  • A Protection Module with 35/50 micro-upgrades, and protections against Railgun, Smoky, and Hammer.

If you’ve always loved the Tiger paint, but don’t find those protections useful, with this update you’ll be able to combine your Tiger paint with another set of protections that is more useful for your playing style.

Other details

This update will also introduce the following changes:

  • After the update, only new Protection Modules with new protection combinations will be available for sale.

  • The Protection Modules from old paints that existed prior to the «Disintegration Update», will never again be available for sale. These will remain in the game as «Legacy Modules» in the garages of players who owned the respective paints prior to the update.

  • You’ll be able to view your opponent’s technical details, including equipment level, micro-upgrade level, and resistances. To do this, you’ll need to have your opponent in view and press (and hold) “R” on your keyboard.

  • If your opponent is equipped with resistances against your current weapon, you'll be able to see a shield resists_garage_button.png icon in front of his nickname, and the percentage of protection he has against your turret

  • Paint prices will change (some will be cheaper, others will be more expensive), and also affect the prices of any kits in which they are included.

  • Premium paints will be stripped of their protections and will remain purely as Paint Elements. These premium paints will not give you a Protection Module. This also applies to other special paints such as Helper, Champion, Silver and Veteran (where required, these protections will be added by the administration as needed).

This update will require a considerable amount of work to implement. Additionally, we want to make sure everything is working properly before we give the green light, so server downtime will start at 02:00 UTC and is expected to last around 8 hours.

Make sure you watch the homepage, forum and official social media to stay informed about this new update, and be the first one to try the new paints and protection modules!

You Made my day. :)

2 premium & now this.

That would depend on what the kit contains, whether it's a Paint Element, or a Protection Module.

so some kits will have protections and some will have paint looks?

there is one negative thing from this update. Shooting to other player required thinking about their protection. "Smart" player don't attack needle with Smoky for example. Now it will be only shooting and players will have all the info on hand.

You have Emerald, which means after the update you will have the PAINT Emerald, and a MODULE containing 42 against Thunder, 27 Twins and 10 Railgun.

What I understand from this. Correct me if I'm wrong:

1. Paints are seperated into Paint Elements and Protection Modules.

2. Paint Elements are purely visual - meaning that they can be purchased for the purpose of purely having good-looks.

3. Protection Modules are sold seperately, with different combinations and can be attached to any paint element.

One question though. Do paints in the shop still contain default protection modules attached to their paint element? Or should each be bought seperately.

Could you be more specific? I didn't understand. The previous points you stated are correct.

I don't think so. Paints are without any protection, protection is included in modules.

So seperately

Well, for example. Say I want to buy Zeus. Will Zeus come with it's Paint Element(The visual lightning-bolt type thing) and it's default protection module(*insert combination of resistances for different turrets here*). OR, would I have to buy the paint element of Zeus seperately, and buy a protection module seperately.
