Paint Separation Update

Aha, relief to see all those enraged souls settle down after all.
Now let’s break down the so called “noob update” made infamous following its release.
(Didn’t intend to be long but had to address all the unnecessary hate)

1. Illogical paint prices; almost appears as if the system glitched out or the economics team rushed through planning.

Now, 5 484 500 and 5 091 630. Any Idea what these two values indicate? Well, they are actually the cumulative paints cost before and after respectively. The point is that all the paints cost ~7% less. And you, dear critique have the right to say “So what? All that left mere texture which in very few cases may camouflage my tank. Let alone the additional modules cost”. Valid point indeed but from an established player’s perspective. To a new user, who is completely oblivious to the fact that Zeus used to be half its current cost, the prices may not even bother. Similar to how we rarely considered investing on expensive paints(Africa, Clay, so on), It will be a similar experience shared by new players. That said, I still expect the prices to be brought down by well “a lot” as many of you say. The part that bothers me the most is how, all the of the sudden, Zeus gets to be the mighty one xD

2. Protection statistics and having to hold the 'R' key; Clan issues.

In case you need to be reminded, the number contained in a shield mark of corresponding team’s color – next to players name in battles, actually indicates their protection against your turret.
sad.jpg

Allow me to raise this question: how often, suppose as a rail user, did you ever need to know whether the enemy is protected against some turret other than rail in normal battles? Lets be honest, prior to the update, all we ever knew was paint that had protection against our turret. Now we get to see how much and, in fact, with micro-upgrades incorporated.

Of course, knowing all the protection statistics about enemy is an essential component for team battles with serious team-work, for instance - clans. For this reason, as others have suggested: the ‘R’ key should only be pressed once to display the statistics window and pressed again to hide it.

3. Kits without protection modules.

This is definitely a temporary issue. Modelling kits with the right balance of armor, damage, and protection, and cost takes time. So I suggest stay relaxed and expect new kits to roll in soon.

Finally, this notion of Tanki X dominating the game franchise in the near future, eventually shutting Tanki Online down, needs to go away! You all realize that there exists no business without the community it aims to serve. We all form this online community with our collective effort in welcoming, criticizing, and making TOs future. Developers have given no clue of ever shutting down the game but if this attitude of welcoming a new update by complaining all over the game chat and whining about leaving the game remains, I sure see a narrowing future for TO to a point where is collapses. Think as to why would devs want to lose this great community, by releasing apparently “noob updates”, in a hope that all of us will migrate to Tanki X(which by the way still has many stages of development and bugs to deal with) despite the betrayal we would have received from Tanki Online.
All I can request is that next time an update is released, thoughtfully analyze all its aspects and in what way will it benefit not only us but the new community and, of course, the game management. An update is not irreversible, but developers require strict valid points as to why their effort is not beneficial to the business(that includes you). And of course this process can only take place with the community’s full cooperation. Whining about leaving the game for reasons that the update has slowed down the game and created more lags with no accurate data to back it up is nothing but hypocrisy. How great of an argument does that provide to developers to revert back the changes? The first step following a release is always monitoring the feedback which should always be coming from you in a cooperative manner. Apologies if I offended any one but felt the need to post this after yesterday’s unnecessary backlash from many players.

Think of it as an advance in the game play which everyone has gotten used to over the years. I would personally condone this ‘element of surprise’ feature, especially when it set a more realistic combat environment (not knowing what the enemy has and yet tackling with the situation)

But what if someone really likes my tank so they come and drown me in my bathtub, and steal my account ? That's Tanki's fault and I shall sue them over such !

I read UELA and it's still not TOs fault according to it.

That's not a robbery, that's an assault. And since Tanki isn't threatening your life/health with this update, no point comparing it to this.

Robbery:

1. (Law) criminal law the stealing of property from a person by using or threatening to use force

So yes, it is a robbery.

TO isn't a property dealer. The only way you can negotiate with the game is by refusing to play it and choosing a different game instead.

LMAO, the analogy-example with a house was your choice, not mine. I just showed that when buying/selling a house both sides are equal, which is not true when buying anything in a shop or paying for stuff in Tanki Online. That's why customers need to have their rights ensured by law.

Refusing to play is not a way of negotiation. It's resigning of this particular product. When I go to a supermarket and refuse to pay $1 for an apple it's not negotiating. When I go to a market (you know, the real market with stalls), I can really negotiate the price.

Don't play naive. You lost all your arguments and you are now trying to direct the discussion to other topics. Taking away 15% protection from those who purchased premium before update is a robbery, no matter if it was legal or not.

Sorry, my bad. Mixed it up with theft.

Well, you said it yourself - a robbery involves violence, so this isn't a robbery - it's just theft :P

And it's not even theft, it's confiscation :D

I don't see any reason for you to be happy about it. Russian people suffered a lot when their properties were confiscated by Bolsheviks.

And other nations suffered a lot too when they were robbed by Bolsheviks-followers.

And you are just picking words. OK, technically it is a theft. Happy? I am not...

Oh please! For Chrissake, listen - This update is not that bad. You guys are just seeing others exaggerating and then you are copying them. All you need is a lifetime good-looking paint - Zeus, Lumberjack, Picasso, Graffiti etc etc. Then you could only buy modules and equip it with your paint. In close quarters, equip a module giving protections from Hammer, Fire and Isida. Similarly, use different modules depending on different maps. Stop the spamming.

Although I agree - and I have seen moderators and even admins say this myself - that paints are ridiculously over-priced. For example, Bulldog kit which was somewhere around 50k, now costs somewhere around 100k. This kit is available at I think under Master Sergeant... But, yeah - there is going to be a change it kits. So don't worry.

Another thing is that you can now 'troll' in XP/BP battles, maybe even make a fake troll montage showing Prodigi in a XP/BP battle. You can now take your favorite paints - be it any - into format battles. Why the hate?

Mafioso - I feel threatened now by Tanki, what if someone really drowns me in my bathtub ? What if I didn't even get a chance to wash behind my ears yet when it happens ! Don't you feel bad for me ? You should give us our 15% paint back because my life is in danger !

Q: Will kits contain paints, modules, or both? (or none?)

A: Some kits might contain only a paint (no protection). Some might only contain the module (no paint). Other kits might have both paints and modules.  As usual, kits will periodically get refreshed to offer tankers some bargains for buying items in a kit rather than individually.

Update :  A new batch of kits will be rolled out during the next coming week to adapt them to the new update.  All the details will be posted in due time.

Yussssss! I'm so pumped fer these kits! I guess this update isn't as bad as I thought! :D

Or we can think of it as an unnecessary pain-in-the-posterior dressed up as a feature, designed to jack up the paint prices without justification.

It sure is. 15% doesn't sound like much, but it helps those who can't afford 100K paints (protections sounds like condoms) and 150K upgrades.

I should know, because I bought 7 and protection again just 3 or 4 weapons is damnably expensive. Give the paying Premiums their 15% back.

Why the hate? Dude, I can't even afford to take my favorite paints into battle with me. For example, I love how the Alien paint looks, but have never bought it because the protections were never useful to me. Now it's 150k crystals. Now I'm sure you're going to blame me for never buying it, but here's the thing: if the paint was cheaper, I could actually make it useful by equipping a module that has the protections I want to it. But it's overpriced, and because of these high prices the purpose of the update is destroyed, at least for me since I can't even afford my favorite paints to equip with good protections.

Let me tell you, if you don't want kids yet you're only using 15% of a condom, it's a big problem.
