Paint Separation Update

if the protection is separated from the paint, why is the paint still expensive?  probably someone already asked this question, but I didn't see it... 

I will try to explain why I think some of the paints are so expensive. Please bare with me.

 

Lets say I have a car:

 

 

 

Since too many people drive a silver car, I'm bored of the color and I want a new paint job.

I can go for something simple like this:

 

Which will cost me... €500.

Or.. I could go for something special and shiny like this:

 

Which will cost me, say, 4.5k.

In this comparison, silver is equivalent to green paint in Tanki, black is equivalent to Rhino and the artsy paint job is equivalent to Inferno. Of course tastes differ and I prefer the black paint job over the red-ish paint job. The way prices for paints in Tanki are now set, I assume, is based on what the developers think looks beautiful.

 

Another reason for the huge cost of some paints could be that Tanki wants some exclusive paints, paints that everyone wants to have, but only few have. Exclusivity can be accomplished in various ways, like only selling a limited amount of items (Aston Martin Vantage GT3) or for a limited time (Eternity and Red Suit), or by making something really expensive (Prada, Armani...). However, too many players already own several of the expensive paints, so it will take a long time before paints like Zeus and Tiger will reach the status of exclusivity.

If you buy a protection M0, say 5000, can you upgrade to the next M1 and pay 25000 or do you have to pay the full 30000 again?

 

Tiny detail, if I now play tanki, I have to investigate in the garage what protections I am wearing (if any and yes I forget). Next to the R key is the T key, can the screen show me what protection I have myself? Or some other way of finding out about me while playing? Previously I knew because the colour of my paint but now I never know.

 

Another thingie, the profiles now only show turrets and hulls, but don't show paints/protections.  You can not even see the current tank configuration anymore. I assume this is on the to do list?

You have to pay the full price. It's the same as with turrets and hulls, if you buy M0, and later want to buy M1, you pay the full price. (Unless you have a garage/personal discount, of course.)

This is exactly the right concept for this update, at least the part that concerns the paints prices.

And that is why the actual cost of the paints is irrelevant to the playability of each player (that is the concept of free to play games).

 

However, since some players had purchased already all the - today - expensive paints, it's kinda unjust for the others.

It would be alright to appoint this to new paints, that nobody have so far. But anyway, it's the right concept for starting to sell cosmetics and facilities instead of power.

A: Each module will have 3 levels of modifications, M1, M2 and M3. All these modifications will be Microupgradable.

 

Q: How about XP/BP?

A: Good news for XP/BP players! Now if you have a M2 Wasp or M2 Hornet the system will automatically equip the protection for you, even if you don't have any sort of Rail-protection module in your garage, and incase you are wearing one that has more protection the system will reduce it accordingly. However, it should be noted that now M2 Wasp will equip 10% (instead of the previous 20%) and M3 Wasp will not be able to equip any sort of protection. This was done to balance XP/BP games.

 

I have wasp m4 and railgun m4 can destroy me with a single shot. I can destroy hornet m4 with double shots, how is that balanced game? hornet users have big advantage over us. increase the health point of wasp or allows to wear protection

Because wasp is faster and more manouverable as hornet, therefore its advantage is being one shot.

On a side note, I think it's absolutely hilarious that people with ridiculous nicknames are having such a serious debate. At least that has been giving me a laugh throughout this.

Nope that's not the case anymore and that post is actually what got me in here last night well before you posted this comment.  Now as for the trust lost in the guy, I do hope the mishap of 1 time will not entirely negate the respect consistently gained on a daily/weekly basis over the past 2 years.  Do check my previous 2-3 comments for some more light shed over what happened with those.  Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the feedback.  And with so many modules it is damn right confusing.  Even I completely forgot which one I had equipped and what MU level I had on it etc, cause I matched a LGC module of another paint with my pwetty sakura and .....  :wacko: getting killed like bunny all over the place.  :wacko:  Pretty sure we'll be able to work something out about this though, don't worry too much about having to remember numbers, cause that's one of the main point of this slew of changes that just begun.  I'm looking forward to the more refined additions coming down the line.

 

As for the profile items missing, they are being reworked right now to better match with the recent changes seen in the game.  Once our profile web page guys caught up with all that these will return, and likely with some more stuff on it ;)

For some reason, when I suggested this, every single person spat on my face. It was like trying to tell the Aztecs/Inca/Maya/Egyptians abou cars. Now Tanki's all over it, but sadly I don't get credit for what many players call "the destruction" of Tanki.

The developers have a horrible sense of Aesthetics, Invader for 50 k and that paint looks so darn ugly. more importantly, with that example, I will point out that even if that second red car is a better paint job, its not a good idea if you want to use that as an office car. Most importantly, the red paintjob doesn't make your car go faster, more manuverable, immune to crashing into other cars or any protection of any sort, hence why its pointless unless you're a rich punk with a like of street racing.

 

What actually ruined the game is the ability for one to drop golds. Best idea ever: wait till golds have 10k value, buy tons and tons of golds for standard value, and drop them in a battle with you alt. XD

Please Tanki, give us our crystals back!

Any time any player asks for something similar to what a helper gets whether it is a small crystal payment for doing a service or getting a paint with a percentage off all turrets, some mods are quick to pounce and will say and do anything to ensure it does not succeed. I understand, you want to preserve your "special" status because you feel that these things are part of a remuneration package for services rendered. I get that. I feel that is why you're strenuously attacking respectful complaints to Tanki's decision to remove the 15% protection without notice.

 

 

 

I was one of those who argued against premium's protection in the first place. I'm still against it now but the only reason i'm advocating a return to the 15% is because of the way it was removed without notice when so many people paid real money for it. Remember, you can't buy it with just crystals alone and people earned that money through real life jobs, chores etc.

 

It was only last week I commented somewhere that I respected you and this was mainly down to what I read in the I&S topics. I thought that you let some players down gently and was considerate in your replies to them when they suggested newbie ideas. I clearly didn't read enough of your output because you've now hit rock bottom in my estimation. Your arguments seem fabricated and are unpersuasive, while your attitude to others leaves a lot to be desired. Your stubborn refusal to even acknowledge players' concerns does you no favours whatsoever and does tanki a disservice because while you reply with that avatar, you're representing them. This is not an 'Us against them' topic.

Well, the value of kits just dropped way down.  WIth 35-40% discount for a kit I may as well just buy the exact turret and hull I want when I want them, and not worry about useless expensive paints bundled with a kit. So, unless things change here, looks like I have bought the last kit I will ever buy.....

 

Don't get me wrong - I *do* like that I can use my old paints again, as I liked the look of some of them, but they had too little protection - and I like that I can pick camo paints for a map, and still have whatever protection is best for the people shooting at me (but remembering what protection I have on at start of a new day is very hard!!) 

While I'm bothering to post -  how come with all the protection modules available there is STILL no way to get protection against all the noob turrets (who are usually also the worst druggers) - twins, firebird, thunder - these are the 3 I need protection against but it can't be bought.

Have been playing a number of years now and find this update the worst ever... even worse than when blue crystal boxes were changed from 10 crystals to multi values and all its ensuing fall out.

 

Paint prices have been jacked up to stupid levels and you get NO protection from it. Then you get gouged for protection! Come on TO this type of practice will drive away your loyal players... unless this is your plan to kill TO ready for TO X???

 

Splitting paint/protection now means you have to go to your garage before you enter a battle to see if you have any protection at all rather than knowing from your paint selected. Accordingly I used to know what protection an enemy had and could change my turret accordingly to try to counter them.

 

My recommendation would be not to spend a crystal on paint.... "looking cool" does not win you battles/crystals! Buy a couple of protections and keep them... save your crystals purely for hulls/turrets... and remember ONLY BUY IN SALES! Make your funds go further!
