Anyone good with computers ?

So yesterday I bought a new laptop. Once I got it all set up, I installed Google Chrome and noticed everything was running slow, not like my internet was slow, but like there were programs running in the background which I couldn't locate. After asking for help from a friend, she told me to open the Task Manager and see if I could find what was making it all so slow, and I was using 99% - 100% of my CPU (whatever that means). I noticed a few programs using a large percentage of my CPU, so I ended those tasks, but the problem wasn't fixed. Then she told me there may have been Windows updates installing in the background, so I checked and sure enough there was. The updates were 10% completed, and when I woke up this morning I decided to check how much progress had been made, and the answer was none, still at 10%. I have my laptop set to where it never sleeps while plugged in, even if I close the lid, so I figured the updates would be able to continue.

Any help is appreciated.

Which operating system are you using?

Can you provide us with screenshot of Task Manager? Because there might be a process taking abnormal amount of your computer's rescources and which is not process run by System.

Try this, many people said it's working for them.

After restarting your PC, try to start Windows update again, probably an error occured.

Restarted, now I see this. Should I click Install Now ?

Yes.

Just follow the steps: Now go SYSTEM, after that CurrentControlSet...just as in picture above. Keep in mind that next file you need to open is below like this.

Done,anything else ?

You didn't even find the right thing...please follow all steps not just my screenshot of showing you how to do it.

At the end it should look like this, and where you see Value data, put 1. That's all you have to do, just find it at Memory Management, that is not hard man, follow steps i mentioned:

Here is the important place you should put Value in

Sir, the updates didn't complete overnight because you used the Task Manager to end the tasks.  You will either need to cancel the updates, or manually resume them.

Okay thanks for all the help and this topic can be closed
