Debunking the Milk Myth - Why Milk is Actually Bad for you

This is definitely right considering we drink at least as much milk per day as a baby cow does!

Yeah, and also considering we want our cows fat.. Gives us a lot of fat and not much actual meat, in the case of dairy cows it will give us sick cows if they get (too) fat.

 

Milk doesn't make cows fat, it makes them grow, like most food does. The fact that milk is healthy for baby mammals, makes it highly unlikely that it will become unhealthy all of a sudden after a certain age. The most important thing is that too much of anything is bad.

As for the argument that milk is only meant for babies, why don't we all just drink water then? Instead of lemonade, fruit juices, coffee and so on, since those drinks were never 'meant for us' either.

Milk also contains potassium, which helps regulate the calcium in your body. Too much calcium? Potassium closes the gate and the extra calcium leaves the body. Not enough calcium? Potassium opens the gate and says "Let's Party." Of course, Potassium has other functions, as well, such as helping to regulate your blood pressure and prevents osteoporosis.

 

Don't forget about Vitamin D. It helps with the absorption of calcium into the bones. What good is calcium to the bones if it just sits there and stares at the bones? Vitamin D is the life of the party. It has all the goodys to attract calcium and encourages it to mingle (with bone). Vitamin D was added to milk around the 1920's because rickets had affected thousands of children and Vitamin D helped to absorb calcium into the bones. What was the best way and fastest way to get Vitamin D into children? Since children already drank milk then that was the most logical solution. Now rickets is very rare in countries that sell vitamin D enriched milk. Very few foods contain and Vitamin D and those that do, doesn't have enough to do any good.

 

Then there is Phosphorus. Calcium and Phosphorus are good buddies. Phosphorus gives Calcium the strength it needs to keep on partying. Phosphorus is also needed to help build and structure teeth as well as it's healing powers.

 

The biggest downfall of milk is it's fat content. Solution? Drink reduced fat milk. Personally, I prefer 2% milk, but I use whole milk in cooking. It gives food a richer taste and most of the fat is burned off anyway.

 

OP: How much research (ie: homework) did you do before posting? Before stating facts, first get your facts straight.

Drinking just water would probably be a LOT healthier than lemonade, juice, coffee, etc.  ;)

Um, do you know that? Because I'm pretty sure that's not true. Also, if you want to know, a newborn cow is generally between 20-60 kg in weight, the size of an average twelve year old. Plus, the stuff you buy off the shelves is generally homogenised and/or pasturised. It's not fresh milk, meaning that comparing the amount of milk we drink to that of a baby cows is ridiculous.

For some people it is, they have to drink some other type of milk, or just pills.

I assume he meant without any problems with milk, for example being lactose-intolerant. In general, for most people, milk isn't bad for you.

What is this crap. milk sipping Calcium from your bones? Milk isn't interfering the metabolism at all... the acid isn't produced from there. Who tested this? is there scientific evidence that supports milk messes up the calcium metabolism enough to actually DISSOLVE bones?

 

The fact that she's mentioning the urine part only probably indicates that they didn't tested the systemic (blood) PH levels, and instead monitored calcium levels on the urine, that's no evidence. A glass of milk contains 300 miligrams of Calcium by itself. You need 1mg and pee out 299 of the excess calcium.

Your didn't offend me, not at all. I thought you were on some type of crusade to ban milk by citing how unhealthy it is.

You should not believe everything on Internet. Have a comparison at the composition of the Cow milk and the one from your mother.

Ask yourself the following question: Why female mammals gives milk to their own babies at the time of their life they grow at the fastest rates?

Do they try to kills their baby?

Im perfectly fine when I drink 2 liters a day, in fact without drinking it my hair kinda gets dry so I drink it as much as possible.

 

Don't drink milk. It is bad for you.

 

Which is less believable? Discuss.  :P

None is more believable, it just depends on the person, some people have negative effects from milk, others positive.
