Debunking the Milk Myth - Why Milk is Actually Bad for you

 Share

Recommended Posts

Wild animals generally don't end up in a situation where they get a chance to drink milk (from own species or other).

Who's to say they won't drink milk if they do get that chance?

Mammals in the wild do not drink the milk from different species, and are not known to have any health effects that are caused by that.

Of course they can be trained to drink milk, but I am focusing on their natural diet.

I pretty much drink a tall glass of chocolate syrup.

I don't care for regular milk.

Are you calling humans wild animals?

Most definitely.

I mean if you believe evolution humans domesticated themselves (smaller bone structure and stuff) and if you believe in creation I'd assume God wouldn't create "wild" humans...

Humans are not domesticated (tamed by another species). In that sense, we are wild animals.

:D

Like I said, mammals in the wild generally don't get a chance to drink milk. Would a zebra allow a lion to drink her milk?

Though what would happen if said zebra would allow it, would the lion want to drink the milk or not?

We humans just create those opportunities for ourselves to drink milk, while most mammals aren't capable of doing that. It doesn't mean however, that they would like milk or that it would be bad for them or even that they wouldn't try to drink it. I just don't think it's fair to say "animals don't drink other species' milk or don't drink milk when they're grown up, so humans shouldn't either". You can't compare the two like that. It's like saying animals don't drink lemonade, coffee, tea etc. so we shouldn't either. I could go on forever making comparisons like these (animals don't wear shoes, clothes, don't drive cars, don't play computer games....), but I'm sure you get my point.

I think there is lots of example of mother from a specie giving milk to baby from another species (dog and piglet, cow and baby zebra).

I do get your point and it makes sense, but what I am trying to assert is that milk from other mammals is not needed for humans. The nutrients found in it (such as calcium) can be taken from other foods in greater amounts.

What I do not understand is why so many people think milk is an absolute necessity for us to survive properly.

Because when humans are born, they cannot not chew properly (especially without teeth) and need something easier to stomach.

I meant continuing to drink other types of milk AFTER those years. Sorry if my previous post was not worded clearly.

Breast milk has everything what baby needs until around 6 months of age. Newborn babies have small tummies and need to eat every 2 to 3 hours or about 8 to 12 times per day. Also breast milk contains antibodies.

Some people think that breastfeeding helps mothers bond with their newborns. But the truth is, loving mothers will always create a special bond with their babies. Even in cases where a mother can't produce enough milk to supply all of her baby's nutritional needs, cow's milk can be used. But, in cow's milk water must be added, because newborns have digestive difficulties with cow's milk. Cow's milk has too much proteins and fat for their tummies.

Hey... I drink 2L of milk pretty much every day (Our neightbors has a farm and we are good friends with them and if they need something, we give them without asking, if we need something, we dont need to ask them and we can just take it. Close family friends over 17 years) and i might get sick like once in a 3 years when my body temperature is 37°C and thats it. Our neighbor who hates milk (Best friend from time when he borned (he is 16 right now)) he gets sick every 3-6 months okay??

At winter sometimes i dont even wear jacket and i can just go outside and only after 2-3 hours spent outside in winter its getting cold for me and i may take a jacket. I live in windy and cold area (Between UK and Russia if you travel at sea :D i live in country called Latvia)

Marked RED in this map.

What you need to understand is humans have drunk milk from other animals for thousands of years, also it's a natural source of nutrition, it helped humans survive. Did you know humans were actually unable to drink milk after a certain age but our bodies evolved that capability.

In most of the world milk keeps people alive. It contains protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fat: Protein isimportant to fight diseases, renew cells, build muscles and maintain healthy hair and nails. That is why your diet should provide enough proteins.Milk is an important source of protein, since each glass contains almost 8 grams.

The nutrients you said are found in milk can more easily be taken from other foods. For example, a serving of broccoli contains more calcium than milk.

Milk is not necessary - it's just not bad for you, either. Lactose intolerant people cannot drink milk and they are fine so evidently you can survive without milk. The article is not correct though so I'm pretty sure people are arguing against what it says, not that you NEED milk to survive.

But I'd rather drink milk than broccoli. You'll be able to do more with milk than broccoli. Overall milk is just better than all other alternative hence why we use it.

Ask the doctor: Is milk fattening?

Milk is not high in calories when it’s low fat or 0% fat. If you’re on a diet, concentrate on lowering the amount of fat within your diet. So, don’t remove milk totally from your diet, but choose low fat or 0% fat milk since it contains all the nutrients found in full cream milk except for the fat.

It is important to know that not all milks are the same. Fortifying milk with vitamins and minerals is a very delicate process, and the quality and quantity of the added nutrients have a direct effect on health.
