Assault mode and maps

Hello there!

As we all know, Alot of players want Assault mode back.

But the only problem is that, they need maps for them.

Well my suggestion is to make new fully working MDK with all props and librarys as they are now for Tanki Developers (I have MDK 3.5 but download link got removed so in MDK 3.4 user isnt able to work with those maps. If you need MDK 3.5 ask Adrel.RB or me. As Adrel was the only person to who i gave it.)

There my idea will be split to steps so its easy to understand.


  1. Developers/admins check user created maps and accept them as map testers. Example @Adriel.RB or @Vikingsrallentando and few others. Maybe up to 10 users as a map testers.
  2. Make topic "Maps for Assault mode!" MDK and instructions should be posted there and now players have to make map for assault mode and if can, also for other game modes but assault has to be there.
  3. Users need to post 3+ screenshots of map and 5-15 minutes long video about this map. If tester likes this map and its balanced for both sides, there is Assault mode supported, they ask for map download to creator. They take a closer look to it, fix bugs and work with decorative stuff (Bushes, few prop changes).
  4. In end of week testers foward map downloads+orginal post to developers and they give final word to this map and so each week.


I know developers are bussy with working on updates. But taking a look on 10-20 maps for a week isnt alot. If even 10 will get passed to developers.

Those map testers are meant to help developers. As we all know, there will be people who wont read anything and will post just a plain text such as "Map with 2 towers!" and thats it. So those posts should be removed if nothing has been shown in post.

This is unlikely due to the fact that devs don't want to increase the already long list of maps with more items, especially if the new maps will only have one game mode. Besides, I'm not sure if unbalanced sides on the map are the only reason why the game mode didn't stay.

I didn't say I don't like it. I actually enjoyed the Assault game mode and want it back. I'm just saying that developers won't do exactly what you suggest.

Questions was why you dont like it.

asad disliked idea and didnt gave reasons. Rules say that i can ask for those reasons if i want and i did.

Assault Mode is a pointless mode as it is completely unfair for the defending side(remember all of those shafts killing the guys sitting on the flag allowing an easy capture?) but it might be enjoyable if the base was much harder to penetrate. If we were to put a map with assault mode it would be:

 

- Serpuhov 

- Silence

- Noise

- Polygon(if there is a definite spawn)

If you have played in Christmas, 2014, you might have had the chance to play a battle in the Assault or ASL game mode. I have played a number of battles while it existed and it was really fun, I noticed that it was only available in the Happy New Year map. If I am correct, the developers didn't bring the map or the game mode back last Christmas (or maybe I missed it?), the game mode consisted of a single A control point and a red flag, the red team members have to take the flag and capture it at the point, the Blue Team had to defend the point, the Blue Team got points for killing flag bearers and returning flags, the Red Team got points for capturing the flag. I think it would make a very good game mode. If it might not suit normal maps, then bring it back on Christmas with the Happy New Year map.

Just like in Tanki Online Christmas 2015, I want Tanki Online developers to add Assault mode back, not for a short time, but forever! I'm sure everyone will love it, not just me and Tanki Online can be great again.

-too easy for red team to cap

-too easy for blue team to camp and block the capture point

IMO the map was as balanced as any other map. It's the players and teamwork which determines the winner.

 

Please bring this back. It was wildly popular when it was in the game. It had sniping positions as well as close quarters routes. Roles for heavy hulls as well as speedy ones. Something for everyone.

I hope too. I thinks it is difficult to balance correctly as there is 2 different dynamic2 generate point for each team. Probably the mechanics need to be tweak for each.

What is Assault mode?

it was a mode where 1 team had cp point and second team had a flag. CP point was in attackers base and they needed to steal flag from defenders and place them on CP point.

Not quite.

 

The flag was in the Red-Attacking team's base. The Capture Point was in the Blue-Defending team's base. Red team spawned, immediately took the Red flag and tried to take it to the Blue team's Capture Point.

 

Every flag Capture earned Ted team 10 points. Every few seconds would give the Blue team some points regardless of whether Blue team actually did anything other than prevent captures.

 

It was awesome.

 

With respect to balance I saw it both ways. Plenty of battles where Blue advanced to the Red base and just spawn killed them. Time is on the Blue team's side. Also saw plenty of close battles and battles where red team just scored like crazy when Blue wasn't paying attention.

 

So again IMO balance was a matter of who was playing. I found the overall balance of the map and mode to be acceptable.
