Change the Smokey Protection Icon

The smokey protection icon - a THUNDERbolt

That confuses me everytime because I always think that when I'm using smokey, my target is wearing thunder protection. Then I wonder why it takes like 5 minutes for me to kill the target. I also spent time wearing my tundra protection module when I needed a paint that could protect against thunders and I didn't realize until the end of the battle that I was wearing a Railgun and Smokey paint. I get that the fact the smokey critical thing is some shocky blue thing but the new protection icon kind of looks like the old thudner icon(which also had a yellow lightning bolt).

I think that the smokey icon should be tiny blue shocky things(i dont know what to call it) that u see when u land a critical, not a big fat yellow lightning bolt.(My photoshop isn't working. Will make edit when it works)

I agree regarding Smoky and Thunder icons being too easy to mix up, but I don't see how you could be shooting at someone without realising they have high protection from your turret. Sure, you might mix up the protection icons when you press R, but the number next to the nickname is still there...

I agree that it's a little confusing, but it's not too hard to adjust for, given that Thunder's icon is an easily recognizable explosion and the protection percentage next to the username, like Mafioso said.

From a really technical perspective, Smoky's icon is a lightning bolt. Lightning is the arc of electricity/plasma itself, thunder is the noise produced by it. Thus Smoky's icon is correct since the critical hit produces an electrical effect.

Why not just writing turrets' name instead of using symbols?

Takes up space and words are hard to read when everything is moving. I personally find it almost impossible to read the name of the module equipped on a tank that's moving about on my screen.

ok then but on the contrary when you are the guy who is getting hit, the guy who is shooting u is using thunder, and you are wearing a smokey paint, you might mistaken yourself for having protection against the thunder.

Never had this issue because I'm poor with around 2.5 good modules, but yeah - that's a good point.

P.S.  What's a "smokey paint"

Since you want to set up a science class here, let me dive even deeper into the technical aspect: No, thunder is not the noise produced by lightning. It is caused by the sudden localized temperature spike created by a lightning bolt, and that causes the surrounding air to expand rapidly. This effect however lasts for a split second, and the air returning back to its original state is what actually causes the sound of thunder.  ;)

Now please let me take rest, that was a tough dive and I need to catch my breath.

Pretty sure everyone is used to the icons by now.

There will always be new players. If it helps the game be more intuitive, they should consider it.

This idea is invalid, as the only reason why Smoky's protection is a "thunderbolt" is that Smoky fires critical shots, and whenever it does that, a lightning feature appears. Lightning is also known as a thunderbolt.

Ok then, they are both parts of the same thing and the only difference is that one is sound and the other light

They are parts of the same thing, but lightning and thunder are different. Lightning is the spark, and thunder is the shock wave caused by that spark. :)

Yes, but it can be changed to something like the blue static effect on crit.
