Heavier punishment + Automatic Notification

Also read: Serious violation, serious punishment.

A while ago, I made an idea topic on heavier punishments on violations, rather than just chat bans. I'm here to 'change' a few things I previously said.
Unlike I said before, that there should be crystal fines, I now say that certain features of the game should be disabled (or enabled). There already even is a feature which is disabled for banned players, which is the ability to create battles.

For certain, more serious violations, I say that the the following features be disabled:

 • The ability to buy crystals

 • The ability to invite friends to the game

 • The ability to change missions

And the following features should be applied:
 • A banned player will get a quarter less crystals in battles than usual in battles.

Not saying these in particular should be implemented, but the general idea. I just don't think chat bans do enough.

And now, besides all of this, when a player is banned, it's often hard for him to tell his friends he's banned. I know the whole point is he shouldn't speak, but I believe the following is necessary. If a player is banned, instead of him trying to mime to his friends how long he's banned, whenever he tries speaking, an automatic message should appear: "This player is banned for X AMOUNT OF TIME for breaking the game rules."
Players may be banned for flood/spam however, thus such a feature would defeat the purpose of their ban, thus the feature should only be available every 5 minutes or so. If the player wants to check how long he's still banned for by typing in something and entering it, he still will be able to, it just won't be viewable to everyone else and will be the current format message ("You are discount from the chat for...").

Valid
[vltr]
I suggested a similar thing before and it received mostly negative reviews. Probably from people who like to break rules all the time and get away with easy bans ?
But I do like this idea. Won't help against all types of violators (e.g. alt accounts of higher ranks or scammers don't care about crystal fines), but it will definitely improve the situation.

I don't think that the system is capable to include such omission. Many things in Tanki codes aren't customisable so not sure if any of your suggestions is applicable.

Furthermore, as already said, some players are indeed banned quite seriously. And since this is a game and not a penitentiary, it's not good to get things too harsh.

I agree that there should be things taken away, but not things that no one uses like the invite codes and ability to buy crystals.

Perhaps something like losing a pro battle pass or map/mode/equipment locks (can't play on a map/mode or with a certain turret/hull/paint/module).

Crystal fines could also work, and maybe those funds can go towards rewards for people that have gone months or years without receiving a ban. That would definitely give people a great reason to behave well and follow the rules.

For a serious violation of Game rules such as distribution of third-party software, exploitation of software bugs in the Game, sabotage, fraud, using cheats etc, players account is blocked.

Therefore, blocked player is unable to buy crystals, to invite friends, to change missions and to enjoy in all the benefits that this game provides.

And as far as I know, if the player continuously violates the Game rules, then any subsequent ban is longer than the previous one.

3 Mods in a row lol,

Well , for serious violations such as hacking , advertisement of malicious sites , advertisement of fake servers or the attempt to steal other's acc should be dealt with the violation u suggested , however Flooding is dont on the chat nad should be punished by disabling chat. The Deduction of crystal funds like u suggested 1/4 th of the battle fund is deducted , however , Crystal fines such as 5000 crystals for Multing Sabotaging and even 100,000 crystals for harsh violations like hacking , advertisement of malicious sites , advertisement of fake servers or the attempt to steal other's acc

How many of the violations get punished (by rate) and how many of the players who get punished continues to do the same violation?

Most players complain about violations which don't get punished, not violations which get unsufficient punishment.

I guess heavier punishments would not help at all, but further inspection is needed.

We monitor the situation on the chat closely... there is a number of players who have been banned for 6 months, even more than once. That didn't change their attitude one bit. That's why we realised we can only get to a certaing point with bans but we cannot actually change someone's attitude - that's something that is needed to be done by society, parents, teachers...

Ours, as chat moderators is to make chats as good of an environment as possible for gaming, with the limited time each of us is online. In order to do that, many options are also added in the meantime, some  to prevent players from breaking the rules easily, others to insure that everyone can protect themselves from offenders (by blocking them, limit private messaging system, even removing the chat altogether).

They should have a fee.

The battle thing is unfair and not crediting it can make players or mods or developers stressed about the battle fund a player gets when they get banned. Also taking out the friends invite is rather ignorant (awareness in general) because what if your friend is in a different battle and you want to invite him to a STG, the problem is with your idea, the friend will never get in the STG. This  friend will be mad or sad, then  he will tell mods that he hates the update,(the idea).  Then mods will not live happily ever forever till a balanced system takes place, and it is too much justice for a player who gets banned by flooding, trading accounts (maybe),caps (no), profanity(agreed),sabotage (yes)

Overall ok idea

I think we should create a poll for which type of banns should have a battle fine.

Okay Martian, I take your thought and will not through them in the trash this time. Next time an angry player says "harsh mod" to you for banning someone for a week, remember what you said :P

Players will always complain about their bans, it's logical. The point is to make them as fair and structured as possible, so that no one can complained they are banned too harsh compared to others.

the more bans the longer each one is...? wouldn't that work...?

We're using that system for years... but with mixed success. As I said earlier people cannot change their character by the power of ban, more things are needed for such change and those have the roots in real life, not in the game.

perm ip ban

Restricting entry per IP address will never happen, as it has been told many times before.

For example, in one family two or more siblings are playing Tanki. If one of them violates the rules and gets his IP address banned, then all his siblings are also punished for what he did.

Since this is not a penitentiary and the Administration is equally fair to all, that would not work.

Since this is military, for punishment I think a court martial would be appropriate.

In this case The hull or turret is lowered in rank for the offender from M3 to M2 or for M2 to M1 or from M1 to M0.

I think for most people (like me) having the ability to chat and post in the forum taken away is bad enough ( got banned for a week a couple times . so worst week ever . I wasn't able to coordinate with my team whatsoever and I normally post in the forum.ALOT. so that was basically torture)

assign to them something like a PremiumAccount.. and lets call it "ViolatorStatus".

Then use the battle fund bonus logic of the Premiums.. and instead of giving a +100% bonus, give them a -15% bonus.

The ViolatorStatus is equipped with an expiration data (just like PremiumAccounts..) and so it runs out after the given time.

The necessary gamechanges should be pretty small

- introducing of violatorStatus as "Item" (like the premium subscription)

- interworking between concurrent premium and violatorStatus

- possibilty for moderators to assing ("buy for free" :P) a ViolatorStatus to a different account

- make sure that noone else can assign that to anyone

- some things I forgot :p

- some tests

I don't think a fee is approriate for chat violations....too subjective and it would open a can of administrative worms I think.  BUT, the gist of your idea is great....Violator Status without the fine but maybe a mandatory paint for a specific period of time along with the chat ban...The Scarlet Letter but ala Tanki (maybe red and white striped).   A tank of shame.
