[Declined] Ban even private chat violations

Recommended Posts

I recently reported a player who asked for my password, he didn't get banned because he asked me in the private message system. Do you honestly think that's smart? Banning him is protecting other innocent and unknowing players from scam, but by letting him go unbanned, you're just helping him.

I could understand profanity, if one swears at you in a private message, just ignore him, but if someone is trying to scam players in private message, he should still be banned.

Administrators decided that private messages will remain private without any intervention from mods. Account exchange and other violations have always been present in the game and even if all communication methods within the game are removed, players will still continue to trade accounts using other means like Skype or other public forums where the TO administration is powerless. I agree that banning serious violations like scam and account exchange should be done for in-game PM, but admins decided to sacrifice this little bit of player safety for the sake of players having an easy way to communicate in private.

We're constantly raising awareness of not giving in your passwords to any other persons regularly, in the chat yellow warnings, the loading-up screens, the game rules, and every now and then on our other communicating platforms.  We understand this is not a fool-proof method, but we do rely on a little bit of common sense from our players, not only us, but every other major internet entities do so, and every sensible school teaches the same basic principles.

How does not banning someone who is being offensive towards the rules in PM, make it easy for players like us to communicate? All it does is lower the work load of Chat Moderators.

IMO the best way out is completely removing the sharing of accounts as an offence. Just add 1 line which says "Sharing of passwords/accounts at own risk, the administration does not entertain any complaints regarding loss of shared accounts"

Do you mean to tell me that the administration let this pass since they still got Skype? Well, true, they will have Skype, but at least this will get rid of most of the ones who use PMs.

Well if they dont ban people while using private chat u can turn on the PM from friends only as most people asking for passwords are not your friends.

Well, it was their choice. Like I said in my post, I personally disagree with that and I think that PM violations, at least the most sever ones, should be banable. But not much we can do about this.

They are two different things.

The benefit is the fact that you now have ability to send PMs to players and talk privately - therefore easier way to communicate.

The disadvantage is that it allows players to violate rules without being banned, but admins decided that the benefit outweighs this and added the feature anyway.

What???? You guys are going against this?! What difference is there between violating to one person then violating to no specific target???! You are still breaking the rules and therefore you should be banned! Chat Mods should be given the right to view all messages as they are not eavesdropping on someone(or whatever reason) and they are responsible to people that should ban people who are breaking rules! Any Generalissimo can ask a sergeant or even warrant officer that they will give them their account if they tell them their password. There are young kids playing this game and they can easily be scammed via private message!
