Why was the ability to change nicknames for 100k crystals changed to $$?

If I remember correctly, it was because too many players were changing their nicknames too frequently.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

That is no reason to charge $ for such a small feature which COSTS A TON. 100k is not that easy to get.

Heck, they can change it to just one nick change for like 100k, like in Clash of Clans. But, there, you can change it only for once and for free.

I think you're right about that. However, if you analyze it, 100,000 crystals costs 69.99 USD while 30,000 crystals costs 19.99 USD. You save 1 USD by paying 18 USD for the name change. They could have made it 30,000 crystals or 19.99 USD.

Well, there's all the info that you're asking for..

Not all

I am confuesed

That will it always give the 10% boost to OD or just when it is active ?

Or do we just need to equip it and jump to battle

Wont it consume batteries ?

You need to equip the drone in battle (one battery per minute) and when the drone is ON, each time you kill a tank you get 10% bonus on the OD.

Drone are like any other equipment you need to go to the garage to equip or unequipp it.

Will someone please explain to me about game economy. I've read in this forum and other game forums that in-game currency can't be randomly increased, etc. without it affecting the game economy.

It's virtual money. Why not? Why does virtual money have to be budgeted like real world money? Doesn't in-game currency come from some type of generator?

I can understand a company who has mismanaged money going down the drain. More money is spent than is replaced. Real world money isn't like virtual money in a virtual world. If a cap of a trillion crystals are programmed into a game and the crystals start to run low, why not increase it to quadrillion? It's virtual, you can do whatever you want with it.

Obviously, I know absolutely nothing about anything when it comes to programming. So, will someone please educate me about in-game economy?

Maybe I should have posted this in Game Discussion so more people can see it and discuss it.

You earn crystals by completing missions and scoring points in battles. Through this you get enough crystals to be somewhat competitive if you spend wisely.  It has mostly to do with crystals-to-experience ratio. The higher the ratio the more competitive you are versus your peers.

The cap of crystals in the game is artificial - it exists only due funds awarded after each battle.

But people who spend real money circumvent this artificial cap by turning $$ into in-game currency.

Players get advantage by spending real $$ - they can directly buy better equipment for their rank.  They will score better in the battles and win the lions share of the battle funds. Their crystal-to-experience ratio will improve even more.

So Tanki Online exists because there are always players willing to spend $$ on a game to get an advantage.

It doesn't give a boost to the overdrive itself. What it does is speed up the charging of overdrive with 10% when you make a kill. In other words, with the drone equipped, you'll be able to activate overdrive faster. As is the case with any drone, once you equip it in battles, it will use 1 battery each minute, whether you do anything during that battle or not.

It's important to keep in mind though that this overdrive activates when you make a kill, then needs to recharge for 15 seconds (if you make another kill within those 15 seconds, you will not get the extra boost from that kill).

Without the Drive drone, each time you do an action in the game the % of charge of the Overdrive is boosted. For example when you kill a Tank you get about 4%.

With Drive Drone the same activity will give you 14% = 4%+10%. Once you reach 100% the Overdrive is ready for you to activate.

Remember also that when the OD is activated the recharge is nerved till the end of the OD effect.

That doesn't really answer my question. Please re-read my post #4979. I  was asking why virtual money has to be budgeted. Players have asked about increasing funds (which it has) but were told, at first, that it couldn't be done without effecting (or hurting) the in-game economy. What economy?

Another example: In another game, when you killed monsters, etc,, they dropped gold and other useful items that could be crafted or sold with the game. Players were asking for bigger gold drops when killing the larger, more difficult monsters. They were told that I couldn't be done without affecting the game economy.

Maybe I don't understand "game economy."

So I have just won the Abstract Lines from a container and I'm wondering if it's a good paint. It had the purple/pink background.

That depends on your opinion of a "good paint". Its very nice looking, but it offers no camouflage.

If all players had unlimited virtual money to spend in game, why would anyone spend real $$ to play?

As  business TO relies on players spending real money ... no revenue = no company = no game.
