It was talked about in a V-Log sometime ago which I cannot find, its possible that it has been completely changed now.

 

Essentially, the system will first try to find players of the same rank as you are, if it cannot find enough it will expand the search to 3 ranks, one above your and one below yours and so on.

 

Bear in mind rank isn't the only thing that goes into finding players nobody really knows the exact details of how MM works since developers have released them.

In the last WAR, I started out as Colonel and was put up against Marshals, that's 5 above.

They never mentioned a limit as to how many ranks can be in a battle, I've no doubt there is one but no idea what it is.

The Wiki only talks about created battles. I was more interested in MMS battles. I should have made that distinction. Thank you for answering.

The higher the rank the higher the rank-spread.  I've seen differences as high as 8 ranks.  Brigadier vs Legend.  Of course that could be L-44, so... that's effectively > 8 ranks.

 

Hmmm... so the higher/lower could really be 10 ranks?

Before MM came out, I was in the lobby looking at battle listings. I saw one that was open to all ranks MSG up to Legend. That was the first and last time I saw that. What was that all about? At the bottom of the battle map, where the rank limits are located, there were 2 lines of ranks listed. I don't remember the map or battle mode.

Such battles are quite rare to find and normal players, like yourself and I, are unable to make them. They are created for special events and will be only used for such events; after it has been finished, the battle will be removed and players will automatically return to the main battle list.

The battle was created by a Staff member, perhaps? I didn't join the battle because there were mostly ranks much, much higher than me at the time.

Yes, it must have been. Either it was due to an Event, a live stream battle or some other reason. Nevertheless, it could have been only created by someone with said permissions; an admin, organizer or other helpers of the game with battle permissions. As I said before, it's not possible for a normal player to create such battles, under any circumstances. :)

Wellll if you have the Paint app (it is installed on some computers):

Open the app

Drag your photo onto it

click "resize"

change the value from 100 to 200. That will double it. You can mess around with different values. Be aware that if you make it too large it will look really pixel-y.

 

If you dont have paint there are plenty of free image editing apps you can download.

I've had several moments where the forum went down due to maintenance and then a few minutes later it's back on again for a very short time. The maintenance thing is an automated message.. so a lie. But I'd like to know what causes these things? Are there more people who're seeing it?
 
It gets annoying when I am about to post something and it blacks out so all is lost.

I'm afraid you're not the only one experiencing this; pretty much everyone is. I've heard that it's the current (old) theme showing its age. Really hoping for the new Forum (similar to RU Forum) to come soon.  :ph34r:

Yes. The current forum engine has served for long, and time is taking it's toll on it unfortunately. We are expecting a new forum engine which resembles the current RU forum engine, but we can't really pinpoint an exact time. Estimates would say it will be done before the end of the year.

I don't have exact details, but mostly when it comes to forum updates, you always have a backup system in the form of either a data server or a seperate MMD drive which, in theory should contain, the most essential if not all topics and posts of the forum. There are topics here which have been around, nearly since the game started, would hate to see them gone. After all, the forum is all about discussion.

I kinda like the old Forum just because I know my way around really well. Even though its glitchy, buggy, slow and annoying I love it...

Will there be like ranking system in the future? Like in other games, there would be Bronze, Silver, Gold etc.

On my other account, I have Firebird M1 8/10 and M2 is ready to be unlocked for 94 600, which I don't have. If I upgrade the M1 to 10/10 will I get the M2 or will I still have to buy it for 94 600?

 I believe you can finish MUing it then buy the m2 for free. If it were high enough rank to buy the M3 then you would have to buy m2 normally, but right now you are fine.
