Turret: Rocket launcher Vs Artillery.

This one is tricky. I want to try long range missiles. As they will be slow there is not a big deal to avoid them, but this will add another difference to Twins and Ricochet. Naturally missiles won't be able to go to infinity, due to engine constraints (hehe).

not to be a butt pain, but some real radar guided missiles can go up to 25 miles, more then enough to go across Lost Temple

There will be no map that you can use to aim your shot (before you shoot it).. as this is considered as too easy.

, but you still can fire anywhere (if you dont hit a house first).

You just need skill to do that.. lots of skill most likely.

I wonder how effective the arty would be in direct mode.. as it cant spin the turret you are mearly lost in close combat in higher ranks.

Even a Shaft and a Vulcan can suitable defend itself on short range (Shafts Arcade Shot is quite powerfull; and a Vulcan usually drives back-to-the-wall to prevent smaller tanks for circling around it. With the new Vulcan alternation for faster turning speed, the tactics to encircla a vulcan may be obsolete anyways)

It's a shame that I'll never try this turret probably. When unity is released we'll lose everything, and even if the turret is released it will probably end up like freeze or too op like Vulcan. It's very rare the turret will restore balance to the game.

I think you can start a new account and work your way up to the M0 version.. there you can get an idea about its possibilities.

On the testservers you can try out the M3/M4 later on.

But I think you are absolutely correct about the rest. The turret will launch most likely overpowered, and once a lot of players purchased it, there will be a rebalance again. As usual.

I have to admit, it _is_ kind of hard to balance turrets out in advance.. as the testers in advance can never work out so many ways to use/abuse a turret in advance, as the community can within 2..4 weeks.

therefore I am a fan of renting out those turrets for a given time frame.. like they startet it with XT turrets a while back ago. Then you paid for the XT turret and you know it will last only up to a certain date. The closer the date came, the cheaper was the renting fee for players, who did not rent yet.

So lets assume the turret can be rented; and 4 weeks after it's introduction a rebalance takes place. You have 2 more weeks to check if you still like the turret.. if yes, you have the chance to pay something on top of your rental fee, and so convert your rent into a permanent purchase.

But if you dont like the turret after the rebalance (or you never did) then the rental will run out and thats it.

This will benefit both sides:

- Tanki will drain more crystals out of the system, as a looooot of players will rent it. Some maybe in the latest days when the rental is cheaper.. but they will. Just for the sake to try it out

- Players will have the chance to check out the turret on a longer time base

- Tanki gains time and data for a suitale rebalance

- Players can make their final choice after the rebalance

- Players that would purchase the turret, will do so.

All would benefit

Already did that, if you don't buy enough crystals your basically screwed

Would Vulcan be able to target and shoot down these rockets like a CIWS?

That feature would have been nice but I don't think this will happens.

It would have been a new interesting interaction between 2 turrets: like freeze reduce the afterburn of the firebird.

Maybe shooting stright up may help?

Not surprised, the Artillery does not sound almost as good as the Rocket Launcher.

WHat a fail.  This update will be a waste of time and i have lots of better ideas that they should work on first.  We have enough turrets already and we don't know how the new turrets will affect the strength of the old ones.  For example, when they added vulcan it made twins and shaft less powerful, when they made the broadband emitter alteration for isida it made freeze less powerful.  These turrets aren't truly tanki online gameplay and i personally think we have enough turrets.

Also, if they make it self guided that would make heavy tanks that camp less powerful because they will be super easily to hit, and you can confidently rely on them to stay in the same place while you aim.  The splash damge could also be constantly fired toward the flag to make defending a lot harder. This is why i hate adding new turrets.

So heavy hulls will need to think and move+hide not rely on that, they are hard to kill

Do you think these turrets will improve TO gameplay or worsen it?

  1. Improve (3 votes [60.00%])

  2. Worsen (2 votes [40.00%])

  3. No idea (0 votes [0.00%])

Come on, it can't be worse than the re-balance !

Dude... That TO balance is.. Ugh, don't talk about it, makes me vomit ;( But new turrets obviously increase the awesomeness of the game: New varieties! I don't know why you should vote "Worsen" or "Improve". " No idea " is what it is, we are relying on full intuition to make these choices. I will vote no idea for something like this!!
