Paradox discussions

Do you have any you would like to discuss? have you thought of some yourself?? if so, post them here!

Examples:

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Is this statement "I always lie" a lie or is it the truth?

we solved that one the last time and it was the chicken who came first

new one

Speaking of time travel… if we haven’t already been visited by people from the future yet, does that mean time travel will never be invented?

If a time traveler goes to the past and kills himself did he really die? I mean he killed himself meaning he is not alive meaning he couldn't kill himself

if he went back for the first time then yea he did but if its a repeat cycle then no he would never even be there in the present to be able too

Nope he won't die. How should he even die? His body is there and that's all what matters.

The paradox 'What was there first. The egg or the chicken', is actually pretty easy to explain. It all has to do with Darwin's evolutionary theory.
And btw, beaku is right. The question should actually mean 'what was there first. The egg or the fish as they were the first who had laid an egg.
Ok, so now let us assume that there was a creature that is built up of some hundred cells. The creature was then once ready to divide itself. When that happened, one of the creatures had something special. It could procreate itself by laying eggs.
The more complicated theory is that of how life actually got on earth.

How life got o Earth can be explained in two ways - evolution and religion.

Travelling to past is not even theoretically possible, so lets not discuss paradoxes based on that... :) plus there isn't really much answer to killing yourself in the past... it would just create infinite parallel universes ( yeah i watch a lot of tv :P)

Oh it is. :D

And you can kill yourself in the past and nothign happen to you. Because who should even kill you? The space and time are full of myseries and cannot be explained how we think it's logical.

^ Actually, that paradox was very nicely resolved in 'Back to the future' series. Killing your own past self would result in a new timeline and if you travel to present, you'll actually arrive in the present of the new time line. (Needless to say everyone would be surprised on seeing someone who was supposedly killed :p)

Yup, that's true.

How about Opposite Day?

You can't say it's Opposite Day because if it really is, then you'd have to say it isn't Opposite Day. But if you say it isn't Opposite Day, then it really isn't.
