Hello tankers! In this conversation you can read about the distinguished member of Spamville AWC @Jwimmer. Many of you may already have seen his articles on AWC. I think its about time to have a talk with him and get to know more about him. So without further ado;

Hello Jwimmer! How are you?

Hey! I am doing fine.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

JWIMMER
Ok. My name is Jacob, and I am a 17 year old Senior. I am looking to major in Chemical Engineering once I reach college. In my free time, I play on a club soccer team, and am about to join my school's climbing team, once that starts up in September. Other than that, I just do homework and play Tanki.

Hmm chemical? I was gonna do a Sodium joke but Na. I think it must be hard to manage studies, homework, other activities and play Tanki, isn't it? Now I'm gonna hit you with the question that you were most likely expecting. How did you find Tanki and when you started playing it?

Jwimmer
I had a feeling this question would come up. My story is pretty much like everyone else: I was in a boring class, and a friend told me that we should play this cool game called "Tanki". He showed me how to get to the game on Miniclip. For the first few weeks, I just played in class with friends, and then I started to play at home (this was in January of 2015). I pretty quickly reached a rank where I could not play with my real life friends anymore, and then continued from there. I also have an alternate account, @jwimmer2, which I started early this year and is now a first lieutenant.

Ohh the classic Miniclip story. What does your username Jwimmer mean?

Jwimmer
Pretty simple- my first name is Jacob, last name is Wimmer. Put 'em together and you get Jwimmer.

Nice name! Is there a particular reason why you play Tanki? What part of Tanki Online do you like the most?

Jwimmer
Really the main reason is because I have played Tanki for a while. I could play other games instead, but since I have spent a year and a half building up my garage, I go for Tanki. My favorite part of Tanki is killing noob M2 Hornets in 1 shot with a double damage and a lucky critical. May be mean, but still pretty darn fun.

Lucky critical? that mean you use Smoky which leads to the next question. What is your favorite combo and why?

Jwimmer
You guessed it! My favorite combo is Smoky and Viking, and most of the time the Tundra protection module. Smoky is fun because it is so strong. I have about 20 MUs on it, and it can shred apart a bunch of people. Viking is, in my mind, the most well-balanced hull, with a good combination of speed and protection.

Synonymous!! Even I use Smoky and Viking. What’s the longest playing session you’ve ever put in?

Jwimmer
Hmm, interesting question. The longest single game I have ever played was a clan war around this time last year, that took about an hour and a half to finish. I think the longest I have ever sat down and just played was 3 or so hours during fools day and also during the Halloween event last year.

So, did you win that clan war and in which clan are you?

Jwimmer
Yeah, we won that war. The actual story is what I wrote about in the Best Tanki Memories last month. That war was when I was in my old clan WotP, against Clan "Star Spangled Squad" [sSS]. I am actually now in SSS, so kinda a traitor, but not really- WotP disintegrated.

Well, WotP is not alone, that happens with many clans. Speaking of writing. You are a member of AWC. What led you to join AWC?

Jwimmer
I saw that there was a new section in the forum, and decided to write an article to go in it. I submitted it and the @GoldRock invited me to join, so I accepted.

Anecdote! Well, in the Round One of "The best of AWC" your Interview with @Yisroel.Rabin got honorable mention and in the Round Two your article secured 4th position. How did that feel? were you expecting it?

Jwimmer
I think the first time I got honorable mention was the first time there were featured articles. It was about the same feeling as when you open up the contest results and see your name as one of the winners, that's really the only way to describe how I felt.  I was a little more pleased than with the first one, as you would expect.

Oh yeah! I can understand those "Result checking" feelings. Which article you think is the best you have ever written?

Jwimmer
I would say the one I just released about the good of gaming. I tend to like my articles that are further away from guides and such, and "The good of Gaming" has been my favorite one thus far. Although also my first interview with RIDDLER_8 is pretty high up there as well.

I did read both articles you mentioned and both are great, but my favorite was the interview with RIDDLER_8. As you may already know some players are saying "Tanki is dying". What are your thoughts on that? Do you think it's true?

Jwimmer
yeah, it is definitely true. I could write a whole article on this, but I will keep it short. The first indicator was when they removed the server load graph. Then, I started to see that, especially after the server update, almost nobody was ever online. There were a few bad updates, and those lost some people (notably premium accounts). However, a lot of people are also switching to TX. I have a strong feeling TO will die within a year after TX is released- new people will start playing TX, and old people will still leave TO.

Lets be optimistic and think for the bright future of TO. Some players even say that because of paint separation update players are leaving Tanki. What do you think about that? Do you like paint separation update?

Jwimmer
I love the paint separation update. In my mind, one of the best since I started Tanki. The main reason is that I can see exactly what protection everyone has against me, and I can actually use a paint that looks good. However, the one MAJOR downside is, getting a good paint is hecka expensive. 250k just for a good protection module is simply too much (a paint should not be more than an M3 hull or turret). Along with that hefty price is the price of paints themselves combined with the module really makes paints not as obtainable as before. However, good paints never were possible for me to get anyways, because I don't buy crystals.

When they first showed about paint separation update I thought that we will be able to mix 2 or 3 protections we have in one but that will just ruin the game-play. I personally didn't like the update but, now I'm used to it.
As you said above that TankiX will take over Tanki Online. Have you played Tanki X? If yes, then tell us something about it.

Jwimmer
I have not. I most likely do have an activation code, because I signed up for the beta testing, but don't want to dig through my email for it. Also, my computer can barely run TO, so TX has no chance. However, I should be getting a new computer soonish that will be able to run TX with no problem, so i will try it out at some point.

I also signed-up but haven't received code so I didn't got the chance to play Tanki X .Will you check for code and give it to me please? :P When Tanki X is released, which game will you play more TO or TX?

Jwimmer
I will play TO more until it dies. Most likely, I will balance time like I do between my main account and alt, and just completely scrap playing on my alt in lieu to TX. I have a great garage in TO, so there is no reason to leave it while I can still use it.

Do you ever go to bed and see game images playing in your head?

Jwimmer
Not really. I probably have a few times, but not any that I can recall right now.

Writing in AWC you obviously have some writing experience so my question is: Do you get "writers block"? If yes, then how do you deal with it?

Jwimmer
Yeah, in fact multiple times I have asked people what to write about in the AWC Skype chat. Really the only way to get over it is to just wait it out. I read a book by Stephen King called "On Writing" about the art of writing. He said he had a severe case one time that lasted over a year. The way he dealt with it was by writing as much as he could in a day. Apparently, often he could only think of one word in an entire day. Hopefully nobody in the AWC has anything that severe, but that's just another perspective.

Sounds like that book is worth reading. Do you have any message, advise or a joke for the readers that you wanna share? lastly, Would you like to reveal on which topic you are gonna write?

Jwimmer
My only advice about writing is that the only way to get better is to write a lot. Being able to articulate yourself via writing is extremely important, so it is best to practice. For the next couple of months, I won't be posting a whole lot, as I will be working on College applications. However, expect another gold guide I will spend more time on the next one, my Polygon one was not very good. Nothing else to say.

Thank you so much for your time, Really appreciate it. As a good bye gift I would like to send you a Tank Helmet because "Its an essential piece of equipment for any seasoned player". Hope you like it and once again thank you so much. :D

Jwimmer
Thank you for having me!

Hope you all enjoyed it. Thank-you for reading. Ciao!

-Minor word edits.

I'd suggest using more prominently different colours for the interviewer and the interviewee next time (eg: blue and yellow)

Thanks. I was thinking to use yellow but I thought that maybe it will be too bright.

Now that's like a good interview! Really liked some questions you put in. :D

I'm Glad you like it.

Good interview :)

Thank You :)

Let's talk with me :P

Sure. ^_^

Respectably done interview. I gotta agree with Tweezers about the colors, grey with grey was iffy. Also, you generally want to put the questions in a brighter font color than the responses.

Both of those were slang. Hecka to keep it PG, and soonish because I don't know exactly when.
