Guess you will now have to actually trust the people you STG with  . Just tell the attackers to sit in a corner and behave like good kids while defenders plant mines

That's exactly what our clan does the little times we do STG

Hey all,

We've recently made some changes to the user-organized event "Save the Gold".

First of all, please have a look at point 6.5 of the Game Rules.

Also, to make everyone's life easier and avoid Battle Mods from accidentally thinking that the event is being abused, please stick to the following guidelines:

  • The contest should be organized for fun and should never be done for profit.
  • The STG organizers must respect a few basic rules:
  • The goal of the players should be to defend the Gold or try to steal it
  • If the Gold is bought, it must placed from the beginning of the battle
  • If you don't have a gold, no one forbids you from organizing wasp+fire till the gold drops. However, Battle Mods will evaluate the battle like a normal one, which means it must respect the map's and mode's requirements
  • The battle should be set to Auto-finish
Gr8 Thx

Regards

~ Save The Gold Club!

The purpose of a STG contest is to take the Gold Box, fighting for it. After reaching said goal, the battle has no meanings to exist anymore, so players want to get out of it but they are forced to play not to lose their fund — the battles set on 999 minutes / flags are not suitable nor accepted for STG contests, users must be able to get their fund and leave, hence why using "Auto-Finish" is a must

This is perfectly understandable. However, like other players mentioned earlier, if auto finish is on, it's impossible for the defenders to join in one team and start mining before the attackers get invited to the battle. Allowing the attackers in the battle from the start will solve this problem, but raises another. The chance that none of the attackers will try to take the gold before the defenders are done mining is rather slim, especially if random players are invited. Does this mean STG games should only be played among friends? And that it's just hoping they can all be trusted and no one will take the gold before the area is properly mined?

The main problem here is that this is a user-generated game mode. There's a limit to how many regulations we can make. Essentially, whatever we do is "damage control" to avoid abuse. As for the rest, it's up to the users to self-regulate this unofficial game mode. As you might realize, things like these are a complicated issue for Battle Mods.

To me, the way the game rules are worded, it still seems kind of vague. How are battle mods supposed to tell the difference between an innocent save the gold and power leveling when the attackers don't accumulate any score? Can someone clarify this so I don't get in trouble for just wanting to have fun in a mini-game with friends?

Battle Mods are instructed to err on the side of caution. Unless there's clear intent of abuse, they won't punish.

The Auto-Finish must be On only if the battle is set on 999

For a wasp/fire battle, players can make their own Auto-Finish which is limiting flags to 40/50, After finishing the event defenders will just cap the last flag and get their fund if they want.
