7 Unusual but effective sniping positions

Hello,

crosshair_hi.png

and welcome, Tankers to my third article. My last article was received far better than I had hoped so thank you for your support!

This article will talk about effective but unusual siping positions, by this I mean ones that aren't used in everyday battles but can be just as effective; or better than the commonly uses positions. Some of these may be common at other ranks but I haven't found that to be the case so far in my experience.

I suggest you give the page a few seconds to load as it is image heavy.

Aleksandrovsk CTF

This is THE most common sniper position in Aleksandrovsk CTF to protect the Blue flag, however it's popularity is it's biggest downfall, when attacking the blue base one of the the first things an enemy would do is check that area for a sniper and destroy him.

NORMAL POSITION

I suggest you consider this position instead. It offers far more cover, you have coverage on all the key sniping points, and due to it's rarity enemies won't expect it.

ALTERNATIVE POSITION

Highland CTF/DM/TDM/CP

This position is shockingly good, it's biggest disadvantage is that you can only get there with Thunder M2/M3 and Wasp, or a friend who is willing to help. Unless you have plenty of teammates don't use this in CP as you can't reach any points obviously. If you are in the Blue team and can successfully get up there before being killed the value of the position is awsome and racking up a huge K/D is extremely easy. Wearing a camouflage paint is a very good idea! Use the rock for cover from any unpleasant Railguns.

Kungur CTF

There are various common positions in this area, but as with the Aleksandrovsk position every enemy is expecting you there so they should be avoided as much as possible. Instead use this one, it offers many targets especially defenders surrounding the Red flag. Retreat behind the building if you're feeling threatened!

EFFECTIVE POSITION

Notice in the scope that you can also defend yourself against attackers coming up the ramp, a few mines will be a great contribution!

Monte Carlo CTF/TDM

Monte Carlo is my favorite map hence why there are more positions than any other.

A common position is to stand in the corner of the underpass sniping any enemies, this is a very effective tactic and can be further improved by positioning yourself like this. Watch out for disgruntled teammates!

EFFECTIVE POSITION

Monte_Carlo_1.jpg

Notice that you have as much targets in the scope as the more commonly used position, the biggest downfall here is that it takes some practice to get used to the obscure angle.

THE SCOPE

Monte_Carlo_1_Scope.jpg

Unlike the other positions this one has a very limited only being useful to take out over confident enemies sniping from the bridge. Be aware that they can also destroy you so you will need to be quick.

USEFUL POSITION

Monte_Carlo_2.jpg

Rest your laser's beam on your team's base until the enemy pops out, them BOOM!

THE SCOPE

Monte_Carlo_2_Scope.jpg

Again this position has limited potential but is especially useful for flipping unsuspecting flag carriers or attackers coming you way. It can also be used with Railgun though you will need to rock you tank to hit effectively. Again, watch out for teammates pushing you around.

USEFUL POSITION

Monte_Carlo_3.jpg

When using shaft, rest your beam on the sign board then as the flag stealer approaches; aim your beam either for the top half of his tank or his tracks, for a better chance of flipping him into the void.

Noise CTF

This position is slightly more commonly used than the others mentioned but is still somewhat rare at the lower ranks. It is best used with shaft; though pretty much any long range weapon will work.

I have barely scratched the surface in this article for unusual sniping positions so don't forget, go looking for your own and then comment them down below!

I hope you found this useful,

See YOU in battle!

One of the better guides I read in this section. A few more positions would have been better.

Nicely done.

I was racking my brains but these are all that I could come up with, but I may be doing a followup article.  :)

You could always just write your own article...

This is one of the better articles I have read. You should include a "Check your six" note as every one of those positions has a blind spot and show what area needs to be checked every so often to avoid nasty surprises.

I would like to collaborate with you on adding more maps with sniping places and introduce the possibility of using rail, smoky, and thunder as sniping turrets.

That a good idea, I'll be doing a second version soon so you can send me your own ideas. :)

Sure. However, my computer is under repair. I should be getting it back Sunday or Monday. We can do a 1v1 CTF on different maps and I can explain certain sniping positions.

I will see if I can PM you an example.
