Putting mines under supply boxes or golds is an important strategy to defeat the enemy. There is nothing unfair about it and if you fall for the box trap - it's your own fault for not being careful. If mines annoy you so much you should consider purchasing the Spider module.

This is a good strategy, and it can help set you apart from the noobs. I do not see many people do this, but it can give a massive advantage. Just be the smart one, and get yourself a good lead.

 

And gold boxes, and basically bonus boxes. If gold box drop zones are mine free, that means all supply drop zones should be mine free. Gold boxes are definitely not the same as flags or points, they are just small occasional rewards. (Maybe not after this update.)

I like people using mines on gold drop zone!

This is because whenever i see "Gold box will be dropped soon" I change into dictator and take a double armour! If someone has placed a mine there it will help me to jump up a bit! As soon as gold box is about to touch the ground i step on the mine take medic and catch the goldbox.[ Needs a perfect timing or you will either end up jumping too early or some other person would take the goldbox]

See? This is one of many stategies for getting gold boxes, you use your enemies "advantage" to make it a "disadvantage"
