Give battle mods ability to rewatch battle

 Share

Recommended Posts

OK I've seen this many times but many hackers come to my battles and then we ask a spectator to join and see their violations. They stop hacking the moment they type in "Hello Everybody! Stop doing what you were doing so you don't get banned!"(they didn't actually say it but the meaning was basically it).

Then the hackers don't get banned and we asked the spectators to replay the battle to see the violations. They said they couldn't. And then they ban my friend for typing in the chat too many times in a row(even though his chats were useful for our team)...

Seriously? Is this what you call Moderation? So this idea is basically supposed to do these:

- Give Specators/Mods ability to rewatch battle and rewind chat to find violations

- Can you make them stop saying "Hello"? Make it so that there is no way they could avoid getting caught.

Valid

[vltr]

The first idea may not be possible because it basically requires the server to record every single battle being played at the moment. But we'll see - maybe it's feasible.

The second idea I definitely support. I don't understand why they would alert everyone of their presence anyway, since it definitely stops violators from breaking rules. Unless they don't care about a ban, in which case the mod's efforts are useless anyway.

Agreed. This is just because we guys are honest and those hackers are a cheat! They actually use our innocence. I still believe they got some setting with moderators or spectators that they will be free to do the violence. When I was a small ranker, I didn't know that we can even report someone in battle. A guy was dancing on top of a big huge building in Polygon. He used to stand down, and jump directly on top. I was a kid alright, I didn't have experience. I thought maybe as you rank up, special weapons and keys are given to you from which you can climb buildings. Someone reported him and Spectator said "Hello All."

After that, the battle lasted 5 minutes and nothing else happened. Our team lost because he was the mult in our team. He ended with 0 Xp, 0 kills and 0 deaths. The Spectator did nothing. After battle he said "Good Luck. Cheers!"

That noob hacker left the battle. A story which I remember.

in the present system, when people report in game reports channel, A mod may or may not be available always. in such case, replace it by drones. drones that record game play of the person and mods can look the recorded video and ban person when mod is available.

you may bring out with disadvantage that people will intentionally call drones in private battles to have fun with them and try shoot them in parkour and it brings more load on server.   i suggest these drones are invisible and look like spectator. so people cant understand that there are drones.

its easy to  act on mults who spoil game by the time mods come. max 100 drones tanki can make. they are more than enough. i think only 10 drones would keep working. just try if in the background once. then you will understand its effect. server wont take much load. it is not that tough to program to record when reported.

There are only certain cases where the battle moderators write in the chat and it isn't always and most of the times, those are minor violations which require players to be given the choice to either follow what is being said or leave the battle. I can assure you that any other violations are carried away secretly without any warning so those ones where the battle moderators write the warning text and not just ''hello'' are not big violations.

If I would give you few examples of it, it would be a player disturbing others who are parkouring in parkour battle either by mining everywhere or killing everyone so the player is told to stop doing that and let others who want to parkour, parkour freely and if the player doesn't stop after that, he/she gets removed from the battle.

Another example would be a player not using supplies in full drug battle but is still doing his/her best for the team to win the battle so the player gets told to either use supplies since it is full drug battle or simply join a another one. Anything else aside from those such as sabotages, hacks, etc...none of those have warnings at all. it is being monitored, recorded and deal with after enough evidence is found.

Recording battles is good because it stops violations and also give the ability for players to create their Tanki Online YouTube channel. This recording feature should be available within Tanki Online.

Its meant like a security camera, only authorized personnel have access.

OK. But it would be a good idea to have a built-in recording feature for players to upload their gameplay battles on YouTube.

I think this feature is present in tanki client

I recently saw a hacker in a CTF Pro-battle with extreme speed, and the ability to flip back the right way up, despite being flipped upside-down. The hacker had Isida and Hornet. We voted him. However, he was so fast, that quickly captured 5 flags (that was the flag limit), took all the funds, and left the battle. I continued in the battle, and so did the others, and while we played the battle, a yellow message appeared: "Analysis of complaints has been completed."

It's obvious, that the moderator did not see the hacker this time, because the hacker had left. So, the mod might have been forced to simply not take any action. That's understandable.

But, I really don't want this to happen again. So, I have a suggestion.

Whenever any player violates rules, others are supposed to vote him. If the votes are significant in number (I guess it's 15% of the total players), then a complaint is sent. Now, my idea is that whenever the required amount of votes get accumulated (that is, whenever a complaint is sent), recording of the battle starts from that moment onward. When the battle ends, the recording stops at the score-board. This footage is now stored temporarily, and whenever a Battle Moderator becomes available, he can access this footage. He can then analyse the footage, and take appropriate action. After a mod analyses it, the footage will get automatically deleted, freeing up storage for other violation footage.

Now the possible problem is that if the map is big, then how will the footage be recorded? For that, I suggest that the footage gets recorded from the the violator's view. That is, as if the violator himself is recording the video (the camera is behind the violator's tank, and follows it everywhere).

Thank you for your time!

ADDITION:- Another possible problem is that the battle may be very long (the time limit of the battle is 999 minutes, for example). In this case, the footage gets recorded until the violator leaves the battle. This will usually be fast enough, because the hacker can quickly end the battle (as in my case mentioned above), or leave the battle because he saw that other players are discussing about Voting him in the Chat.

Clarification: Hackers entering an MM battle is very unlikely, because of higher chances of being punished (more witnesses, possibility of a YouTuber recording gameplay video, etc). Hence, I have put the "(for Public Pro Battles Only)" in the title. Private Pro battles don't need this feature, because mostly friends will be playing together, and there is almost no chance of the battle link going public.

The main problem is that we can't vote players on mobile.

That's a good point.

You could create a topic regarding that in I&S.

Nor on HTML5 as far as I can see.

On HTML5, it's actually easy to vote. The only tricky part is that you must click on the <Tab> button on the screen, and not press Tab on your keyboard. When you press Tab on your keyboard, the scoreboard is temporarily displayed, as long as you press Tab. But when you click the Tab button on the screen (top-right corner) the scoreboard is displayed until you click on the Tab button again.

So, you can then click on the violator's nickname, and Vote him, in a hassle-free way.

Out of curiosity: On what map?

I play about half of my Tanki time in PRO battles for all those years (and almost all of it during this disgraceful "experience boost" period on the MMS), and I have not seen instances of hacking for a long time. The only cheating I do encounter every now and then, besides the occasional "multing" of sending an alternative account into the opposing team when a place becomes available, this is the "refresh cheat", where a few players habitually refresh their browser when on low health in order to respawn with full health, thus having no destruction counted in the statistics, to deny their opponent a kill and to boost their K/D ratio on their profile (prime examples being TTMMAA and PO3A-23).

Garder.

This is the first time I've encountered a hacker in a Pro battle. Otherwise it was an occasional lagger.

@SHREYA88 did you add another idea in the topic after I tagged it as under review?

If it counts as an additional idea, I'll remove it. No issues.

I have not edited any part of my idea, except for a typo, where I typed "the" twice. (I have mentioned "typo" as reason for editing for that)

However, I have added some text.

1. I have simply addressed another possible problem.(see below) This is to fine-tune my idea. Not adding an idea.

2. I have also added a clarification, in case anyone has any questions as to why only Public Pro Battles? (see below)

In case this is against the rules, do let me know. I will restore the original text. As I mentioned before, I have not made changes to the original text. I have added the above two points below the original text. (Notice that they are below the "Thank you for your time!", which is the last line of the original text)

For your reference, I have put the original text (after editing the typo, the repeated "the") in the spoiler below:

Thank you for your time!

After this, if I feel there is anything that can be added to make the idea clearer, I shall first consult you. This is to avoid such instances of doubt. Then, I'll mention the additions/ edited part in a fresh post as a reply to this topic. For everyone, the text in the spoiler is the original text.

Hope this makes it clear, @Sacrifice !

@SHREYA88 It is just that 'One topic=One idea' other than that, it is fine.

So if I just add clarifications and fine-tune the idea, without adding any new idea, it's okay, right?

Here the additions were essentially part of the idea. Just that while I was posting the idea, it didn't occur to me.

Anyway, I'll henceforth consult you (or whoever has tagged the topic) in case I feel I need to add something! ?

Thanks!
