Best way to master XP/BP...

 Share

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I tried this mode and always find it difficult to play. It's fun but I also keep missing shots while trying to "outdodge the enemy". I always find my timing to be off track, hence I decided to make this topic. Silly it may be.

Some may say, the best way is to learn dodging and attack is to play in large maps like Barda and Red Alert. I have tried those and ended up with poor scores as I had no idea where the shots come from.

Some may say, I should watch YouTube videos from "pros". However, its full of 1 X 1s, and not much group battles. It's hard to copy another style.

Some may say, I should continue what I do best to master the skill I.e, playing in Sandbox, Zone, Garder, etc. But I still do not see much significant improvement.

Playing with Clan is good but my timezones are terribly awkward so its out nor I like to speak over the microphone.

I feel really stuck. I want to move forward but I can't. =/

Ultimately my wish is to be better in large and small maps XP with friends. Unfortunately, Polygon XP CP wouldn't help with it so much.

You should try to find somebody who is very good at XP/BP and have some games with them. Trust me, you will improve.

I used to beat somebody 10-1. After a few games with me giving him some tips, he got a lot better. The score went up to about 10-6, maybe.

I think you should focus on playing the games you would normally play. Then you can get better in "real life" situations. 1V1s are fun too.

I do play with some people that were good, unfortunately sometimes they carry the entire match and I was like, how did that happen...And the match ended without me learning anything.

Normally I like to play small maps like zone...sandbox..

All you need to take care of is, Improve your aim, by using smoky or rail itself to the maximum extent. Secondly, you need to take care of all your sorroundings. Take note of the smallest change in the environment and plan accordingly. Helping team, assisting them by killing those who are shooting them. And the most important, make sure you always shoot first AND aim precisely before popping out of cover.

Maybe instead of playing with good xp players, you could try playing against them. It is true that you will get better by practicing a lot, but if your teammates do all the work, there's no need for you to try harder. A real challenge would be to play with another xp nub against a stronger opponent, that way you really have to try your hardest. If the opponent is far too strong, it won't help much though. As an xp nub myself I can't really give you any tips and tricks, but this is what I think would be the most effective way of improving. Good luck!

I am a XpBp player, please don't feel down when you feel like you are playing bad, it used to happen to me the same when I started playing XpBp.

First you can try by playing in non XpBp map, but using railgun because in XpBp format, you need the precise aims (railgun).

If you are new in XpBp, try to play in small map like sandbox, zone, garder, etc and learn how to support team. When you really have a nice aim, you can predict the movement of the enemy's tank then you can move on to the bigger map like red alert, barda, bridges, etc. Bigger map you need to coordinate well with your team, they support you and you support them so, you will not feel like everyone snipes you from every where.

About dodging, you can also learn it from your friends, how he/she dodges, or if you want I can help you.

like @CooperO said, try to play against the harder team, we will learn better.

Some tip: If you want to really have precise aim, try playing parma

I hope these tips here will help you and enjoy playing XpBp  :)

Here is My Tip. Everyone is a Noob when they start EVERYONE, so it should not let you down

Firstly (what i did) was that my Brother had Railgun M1 / Hornet m1 , i had deep interest in Xp/Bp so i started playing on his acc in Non-Format i played and played and i learned the basics in a couple of weeks, later when my brother bought M2 XP i played a bit on it and i feeled comfortable and I had learned the basics. So i would suggest you to make a dummy account and practice or as Miracle said ure ure main acc and play Non-Format, settle up your basics so that when u go to Xp/Bp the first thing you hear is not "Noob" and you wont get your confidence down, why i suggested a dummy acc is because most of the players in the surrounding will also be Noobs so you will get an atmosphere where u can learn the basics more easily. exceptional skills like dodgin juking etc are only achieved by Practice you can also adapt them from other experienced players or you can come up with your own but you need practice for that.

After that start Practicing in Zone Garder and Parma, these maps will make you accurate and you will learn basic Camping and the fact to stop your tank to avoid bein hit , Later start up on Esport Maps , keep playin and your good to go ! Also DONT BE AFRAID if you loose , battle with the tough to get Tougher. Even if you loose? The Worse thing that can happen is that they take a pic and post on Photo of the day? what else?

Slowly and gradually you will improve in skills remember all those who will call you a "noob" where also noobs one day.

About the clans, There are many clans with different timezones, Im sure you can find one which suits good for you this All clans arent registered but this may help you can also manually search for timezones by Searching in Newcomers, Tier 2 and Tier1 may help About the mic part i cant do anything about that :l

Huh, I'm a complete noob at XP/BP but I think I've got a few things down:

- Practice alone sometimes

Yes, I know, it's fun to wreck and get rekt by opponents, but if you want more of the wrecking, individual practice at your own pace will work out better. However, you should still play normal XP/BP battles (duh)

- Play against PRO XP/BP players and ask them to point your mistakes out

If you wasted a shot on so-and-so because so-and-so and they tricked you so-and-so-way and you learn how to do the trick AND how to recognize it you'll be much better. Learn some common maneuvers and recognize enemies using them.

- One map at a time

I died trying to play Sadbox, Boombox, Garder, Parma, and Zone maps at the same time. Learn routes for each map, particularly the bigger ones. Those are harder. Learn your way around the more common maps and give rarer maps (cough cough Boombox) a rest. The first map I'd start with mastering is Sandbox or Red Alert. Barda and Parma are good ones, not to mention Zone.

I'll be trying out this battle mode as soon as I get the crystals needed for the equipment. What Hull do you guys recommend I get, Hornet or Wasp?...and are protections allowed? or do you automatically get given protections dependent on your hull choice?

Hornet is more Stable when you use it with Rail while BP is the opposite. You could get flipped easily and could be one shotted sometimes. So its better to take a Start with XP. :)

Here's how Iearned: I made a smaller account with the main combo being Dictator or Titan-Rail, it makes you unbelievably slow and aiming accurately is a requirement. If you want to also focus on when and where cover is useful, use Titan, it practically REQUIRES cover.

If you want to learn to dodge shots and know when to advance while the enemy is reloading, use Dictator, it's added armor is nothing without using the maneuverability to get within an easy firing range.

What in the world is "juking" ?

The feel of Rail in XP is quite different in Non-Format battles however. It's much faster for me..

Spinning with your turret rotating and attempting to turn around and fire before your enemy. Hard to pull off at first, but it gets easier when you know your hull better.

I always try this and fail like 50% of the time, maybe I should learn to predict shots?

Don't try to play in complete swag like me a noob. Focus on the enemy, and ONLY shoot when you are Damn sure that your enemy is gonna come from here. 1 Blank shot may result is you being killed. Also whenever you pop out of cover make sure you are warming up so that enemy in cover will have to think twice before coming out to shoot you which will give you the extra time needed to cover your distance. Most importantly learn the Dynamics of your hull, like Wasp can shoot from any place of the map to anywhere, but with hornet you are limited to some kind of shots. A basic tip: Try to keep moving when you shoot if you are no-where near cover

Yes, yes! That's a good part of playing the game in general.

After they fire, if you can't get a hit in, try moving in closer to get a better shot. It should make things easier since the gap is closed for range.

As for juking, it's a pretty situational move. Rarely will they run beside or behind you to attack, and if you are ambushed you just duck behind something and return the favor. I myself have rarely used it to attack a mobile target, since if they're dumb enough to run in circles around me they're dumb enough to move in front of my turret.

Just as a side question, how often are these team-based format battles?

You could just observe your teammates and try to learn from them, or see if anyone can train you.

This is also important, for example: If you rush up a ramp and charge, then stop at the top your hull will react differently based on which one it is.

With Wasp, you'll faceplant and miss, with Hornet it's anything from a perfect hit to a shot going slightly over the enemy due to your back end falling as you charge, and with Titan you should be on your front end long enough to fire a straight shot.

The tactics vary as well: Wasp is more of a flag capper, Hornet is support-ish with the capability to recover and capture flags, and Titan is for long-range defense and support and rarely goes past neutral territory. Titan also takes a barrier to operate with more success, since it can only take three or four shots (Give or take) and lack of the speed doesn't help. So you simply use peek-a-boo tactics on the stronger enemies to weaken them for the main attacking force and you should be fine.

You don't use titan in XP/BP, do you?

Dont try to be swaggy like me ok? Full swag ok? first learn the basics then go for Fancy Shots :3

Also some dodges and techniques are learned by practice, Try to oversmart your enemy.

Nope. Not in format battles.

In unofficial format battles with friends, yes.

Overall I prefer Hornet-Railgun for format, it's fast enough to be effective but slow enough to where my computer doesn't run the risk of going into a stroke.

^^

This, this is what I wish some people would learn.

Yes, it would be cool to take out that Wasp with a spinning jump-shot 9000, but it's got DD and you already have the height advantage.

I still wonder if I should get XP (Tornado kit) on my 2nd Lieutenant Alt to practice XP in Non Format battles, but ranking to major requires some effort

And the feel between M2 rail and M3 is somewhat different...
