Facing the hard truth : Coping with Mults, Sabotage and Cheaters

There are enough Battle moderators already. Please understand that there are hundreds of battles being played at the same time and there are few moderators online — they can't be everywhere.

You can do report mults by recording a video and then, submit it in this section: Game Violations

If you said there are enough moderators, and then said that there are only a few only for hundreds of battles, you just contradicted yourself.

Last week I was sniping on Brest during TDM, upper floor. The other team had 3 Shafts on the upper floor. One of my team mates using Hunter/Shaft would come up to the top floor, sit behind the wall for a few seconds, go into an opening face first to the enemy. Before he could get his scope focused, he was dead. He did this many, many times during the battle and never got a shot in. He was 3 ranks higher than me.

At my rank, I know better than to do things like that. That's why I use railgun instead of shaft.

It was a close 30 minute battle and either team could have won. It came down to which team was ahead at the end of the battle. We won by 10 points.

Was he multing (giving kill points to the other team) or just a genuine Nincompoop?

Shaft is hard to play with at high ranks unless you are really good with it.  I think he was just ragin' lol

I want to give you my actual opinion: People your rank do not know how to use weapons.

You're a very smart guy not to mult with Shaft.

This stuff happens at all ranks -- I've seen third lieutenants with equipment like yours.

The way I  know when my team is multing, is when I have 64 points and I am first and its a 10v10.

Lol...In a Noise CTF I played earlier today (the other team won 7-1) the final tab looked like this:

Red Team:

I_already_won     score:694

Player 2   score:136

player 3: score 112

^player 4: score 107

player 5:  score 98

^player 6: score 82

player 7: score 54

player 8: score 36

^player 9:  score 25

player 10:score 21

Blue team:

Player 1 score 686

Player 2 score 594

Player 3 score 538

player 4 score 487

player 5 score 427

player 6 score 330

player 7 score 261

player 8 score 211

player 9 score 145

player 10 score 122

Now tell me if my whole team's multing or if they're just terrible. ;)

There are two things that could have been possible. Either blue was drugging or using upgrades or red was just bad lol. (they weren't multing they're score's too high to be a mult) :D :P

Do your best to be silent in the chat, don't let a hacker or a saboteur provoke you into insulting them in the chat.

Do the best you can for your team, don't give up, use the saboteur's lack of playing as a way to motivate yourself to win for your team.

Even if you lose the battle, you can't blame yourself, you tried your best, and that's what truly matters in my vision. ;)

I'm pretty sure it just needs to be enough evidence, not just a certain video length. A 10-minute video with one instance of pushing is less evidence than a 1-minute video with constant evidence of the player's attempts at pushing or blocking you.

I'm totally with you.

But still his request was rejected.

I also once took the pain of hunting down a flyhacker. The video sniplet was short (in order to save time for the battlemods), but very, very clear in content and it was possible to read his name and all that stuff (and from the scenario there was no way to misunderstand his "fly" for a lag effect).

It was rejected, reason: too short.

Yes, it's easy.. it is hard to spot automatically, as beeing above ground is a usual thing in this game (ask parcouristst).

At the same time it is very usefull (goldboxes, shortcuts over walls while flagrunning, shortcuts over enemy tanks while flagrunning).

But they get rare the higher the ranks are. In higher ranks the "unflip/put yourself upright" hack and the "lag through/above other tanks" seem to be more common. I face not so many of them, as I play drugfree most of the time. Seems that the average hacker likes drugs.

Be aware, that this does not (!) mean, that the average drugger like hacks ;)

I saw this guy on Blue Team flyhacking in Noise..he would just jump all the way up from the base and land in the Red spawnzones...but lol he never succeeded in capturing the flag as he wasn't immune to damage. We ended up winning 4-1 because he spent his whole time having fun with the hack and was such a noob he couldn't figure out how to get back to his base :D

You know what? Next time if you record a hacker, do an experiment. Record a long video where the hacking is somewhere in the middle of it (and the rest is just normal battle with no evidence) and then crop its length. First report the cropped video and if that gets rejected for being too short - report with the longer one and see if they accept that. If they do, that will be ridiculous :D

It is difficult to avoid mults joining your game, however if you see such incident, keep your screen recorder/or any recorder ready. There is a section Game Violations where you can submit your report, please read the rules.

Do not worry, if you follow the rules, your report will be sent. The battle mods, they are working hard behind this  :)

so...how can I record/take screenshots? Shouldn't there be a system for that? *cough cough* http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=329145&do=findComment&comment=5657950 *cough cough*

That sounds fun and is actually a good idea :)

Ever seen a critical shot of Smoky lifting an upside down Hunter?

Entirely possible that this was just a visual glitch and the tank was actually on its side. Then the Smoky shot flipped him back on tracks, as it should. I've seen that happen many times and I even saw a video where a battle mod was recording me do some parkour and captured a moment where I flipped as if I had hacks, when I obviously didn't. So yeah - just one instance of the event (and recorded from quite far away) isn't enough to make a 100% certain conclusion.

I even have another video where I had a similar situation while playing on my alt:

I know this glitches where a tanks seems to be somewhere differet / or has a different orientation, then on your friends screen. Thats due to lag and the tank movement prediction our clients have (they predict the enemies movement on our screen until the next location update comes along from the server, telling us his true position, orientation, turret angle, ....)

But as far as I know, in those "legal" cases the tank is not steady on his back. He flickers around all the time, as if it would lift one side up slightly, drop again, lift again, drop again...

On those flip-hacks videos I've seen, the flipped tank is stadily upside down and does not flicker around = he is truely flipped.

And then all out of a sudden he is flipped back. Not much in-between.

That professor1234 is def using some sort of fly hack.. thats no lag at all.

Maybe he tried to fly+level back.. thats also possible to put yourself upside again.

Yes, I see that too. But in the first video above the hacker was visible way too briefly to be able to make any kind of observation.

May I ask your POV about this one?

This one looks a lot more like a hack. But I haven't had any proper training in determining the difference between hacks and server lag, so my opinion here isn't any more correct than that of any other player.

Yes that freeze was flipped for a pretty short time and the distance was large, so I could not tell for sure. Especially: why should the Smoky shot it's teammate, when it's completely upside down? Could it even hit is with it's rock-the-tank-to-shoot-low if it was truely flipped? Hmm..

But for the professor1234 video I am 100% sure.
