I have one Question.

If I buy alteration on my smoky ( for 50000 crystals). and then use standard settings, will I have to pay for alteration again or it would be available for free?

Also, everyone seems to be overlooking a very simple thing. If you don't want to face people who use a ton of supplies, play non-supply battles. A Pro Battle Pass is just 5000 crystals, and you can use it for a whole month.

Cedric, you need to understand that many people don't buy pro passes. I personally have a pro pass on me at all times and across various servers I've tried creating standard battles with supplies and MUs off and nobody joins even in RU2.

Often I've made teams with my friends and we've taken one side and waited for people to join but nobody plays open format pro battles with supplies and MUs off (or on).

My best suggestion here is to allow standard battle creators for more options.

Standard battles should have the ability to turn supplies, MUs and autobalance off if an update like this is rolled out. We now have to pay for more than double the price of our supplies in standard games or all we play is format which gets monotonous after a point of time.

Pro battles can continue to have custom timers, custom score caps, smart supplies, gold boxes, private battles and auto finish but for an update like this, allow us to toggle with supplies, MUs and auto balance in normal battles.

I generally don't rant about updates but making us pay more than double in crystals for supplies doesn't make sense and to balance things out, it's best to give standard battles the options mentioned above.

Developers say that every single item that affects gameplay is available to free players in the garage. This is somewhat true, because indeed it's not like there are special supplies in the Shop sold for only real money which give you 2x more power than normal supplies. But let's face it, there is no way a free player is able to compete with a buyer who has practically limitless supplies.

 

A Generalissimo may get about 100 supplies a day from daily missions. That's if they are really lucky and they don't go for crystal missions (which is in fact what most players want). So to complete these missions the player needs about 30 minutes of intensive gameplay. During that gameplay he will die on average about 50 times and therefore have the opportunity to use 150 - 200 supplies (or 40 of each). He may get around 1000 crystals from the battle and if he spends those on supplies again - it will be just about enough to buy more supplies and cover the expense of the 30 minute battle.

 

So the result is that to be able to compete with a buyer who drugs non-stop, the player is only able to play for 30 minutes a day and get absolutely no extra crystals for anything other than supplies (alterations, MUs, equipment, etc.). And that's on a good day. Someone who wants to get crystals and plays with wasp will end up getting 30-50 supplies per day and using over 50 in a battle (since wasps die a lot), so that kind of player will run out of supplies in no time and what then?

 

And it's not like buyers aren't affected by this too. Unless they play only DM mode, the player will constantly encounter players without supplies in their team in normal battles. And it's not exactly pleasant to have a situation where you drug like crazy, bring your team out of a hole towards the end of a match and when some noob picks up the winning flag you drop when you got killed, he loses it because he doesn't have a DA or repair kit to use when he gets attacked. And the battle is lost.

 

The lack of balance between buyers and free players when it comes to supplies has been like a rotten limb for Tanki ever since they were introduced. The smart cooldowns update helped a little bit but not enough. And now with the removal of big supplies kits from garage free players are left with no hope for fair battles.

 

In my honest opinion, this will only worsen the game in the coming future unless tanki does something to stop it.

For example:

  • Make supplies completely free for everyone to use and 100% skill-dependent. Buying more supplies than another player should NOT give someone an advantage.
  • Move the no-supplies setting from PRO battles into normal battle settings. This will at least give free players a chance to re-stock on supplies by completing daily missions and earning crystals without using their supplies to so it.
  • Limit the number of supplies which can be used in normal battles. Allow something like 5-10 of each supply in a 15 minute battle. This will force players to at least be more careful with supplies and use them only when extremely necessary. (Although this can be abused with use of alts)
  • In addition to at least one of the above, reduce power of the Repair kit and make it less OP. Reduce its duration to 50% and make the cost the same as all other supplies. At the moment the repair kit is what makes hardcore druggers so unbalanced and fights between players - annoyingly lengthy.


 

The variety you get when trying to find a good PRO battle is miserable. Right now (pretty much the peak online times) there are around 260 PRO battles for my rank. Sounds like a lot? Well let's narrow it down:

- 150 XP/BP battles (78 of which are on Sandbox, 21 on Zone and 15 on Polygon CP, while half of the remainder are duels/tandems)

- 17 are Parkour format

- 20 are Polygon CP

- 15 are Arena CP

- 21 are a 2 player Arena CP (so most likely power-leveling)

 

So that leaves me with 37 proper battles to choose from.

Remove all the Polygon/Sandbox battles, all the 1v1 battles, ridiculous battles (1 minute/1 kill or 999 flags/minutes) and battles with supplies turned on and you're left with 5 at most.

 

So if I want to play a PRO battle with no supplies, using any combo, on a non-mainstream map, with a sensible limit, I'm left with a choice of up to five battles, 2 or 3 of which will be on the same server, if I'm lucky. I don't consider that a good alternative to the choice of non-PRO battles (which is still quite limited, but nevertheless at least 10x more diverse.

 

And that's for a generalissimo who has a full M4 garage. Think of anyone below the maximum rank - all PRO battles from Major and up will never be limited to their rank so they will be forced to play against generalissimos (and obviously being called a "mult"). PRO battles with no MUs are also pretty much non-existent. And I'm not even talking about ranks below Major - finding a good PRO battle there on ANY server can happen probably once a month at most.

 

That's what I thought too, but see my calculation above for supplies used by the average player. The game works in such a way that you can't get more supplies by putting in more time and effort because you use more supplies during the time you spend to get those supplies back. It's a never-ending cycle that puts any free player into a massive hole. And in order to get out of it the player is forced to either pay real money or leave and find a better game.

 


 

P.S.  Cedric, this post isn't in any way meant to criticise your answers or your work in general, but this is my honest feedback to developers about what they've been doing with the game by incorporating supplies and now, making them extremely hard to get for free players. I hope they see this comment and take appropriate action. I'm all for adding more buyer-only cosmetic features and fancy stuff. Heck, I wouldn't even mind if devs added brand new exclusive turrets and hulls only for buyers (as long as they are not OP), but all I'm asking for is to keep the gameplay balanced between buyers and free players.

I brought alterations for my alt account Fire M2, so I can answer that.

When you buy alterations, you can switch between normal & alterations setting.

In term of limiting supplies abuse, this was not the solution/option that people were hoping for :huh:.

 

We don't know the cost of it in the shop. But this is how i see the current turn of event:

* now: you buy 60,00 crystals (+ a bonus of 45,000 with cash (~30€), with this amount of crystal 105,000 you buy a supplies kit of 1500 supplies each.

* tomorrow: you buy with cash (lets says ~30€) a supplies kit of 1500 supplies each, you just skip a step.

 

What's the difference? first case everybody can actually have access to low price (-80%). Second case only a couple of people can actually buy those low price kit.

So yes at the end less supplies in the system but now power has shift to a handful of people by drying the other player of there supplies.

The handful of people will rule standard mode battle and collect basket of crystals from the battle fond. Therefore less crystal for other that will then not be able to upgrade equipment with MU (as those have drastically increased too).

 

What's the same?

Buyer has bought crystal for supplies before, and they will carry on (only one process step removed). Nothing changes, they will have less competition.

the diffrence is  now they can make more money, because if their drugs are 0 they want new (cheap one) and they buy

 

the game is getting all about money for tanki

micro upgrades

I guess not every of alterations are open yet. Let's see what alterations are open on my Garage :)

Damage output decreases to 57, but range of min-damage and speed gets some real improvement.

As there is vulcan and smoky, and as many weapon got damage improvement with the last rebalance; I don't think this will be preferred commonly.

If maybe damage is still way higher than 60, I would consider.

Looks reasonable, but I guess it takes some "character" from the weapon. I would not really prefer but I guess this will be preferred..

Shaft is M3+, but the rest is M3 and that might be the reason why..

That will make you able to one-shot anything lighter than Titan, but at least 6 sec reload..
Seems reasonable for long range, but this will decrease shaft's medium range responding abilities.

Might be fun, fairly.. However I personally was expecting just the opposite.

At some situation this looks very useful, but it will take some talent to use. I am not sure how many will use this, so I better don't make assumptions early..

Or they can finish one easy mission (not always drugs needed) each day to collect the weekly bonus to stock up on drugs and crystals. It will take a very long time to get a sufficient amount, but it's something at least. Players playing less isn't really something to be happy about though.

True, but people kinda want to actually play the game for longer than 5 minutes a week. Or did AlternativaPlatform get attacked by some health and safety agency and this is some elaborate method of reducing the amount of time people spend playing?

Useless Game.

Free2Play to Buy2Win

What could we expect.

Now people who can't afford, they will just quit. I think there are more non-buyers than buyers. So obviously if updates like this will keep on coming out one fine day this game will have nothing.

You want money cuz there are people you have to pay, I accept.

But just by adding such updates will NOT increase the number of buyers it will remain the same.

1. Some kits moved to shop.

2. Supplies. Now what next? 

Maybe in future you may ask us to pay rent for the equipment we already bought xD?

Finally this game has completely lost it's fun.

No more fun playing.

I am 100% sure if this continues, you will go no further.

Maybe in future we have to pay real money to buy PRO pass to play XP/BP.

I am really disappointed, Not only me but many are too.

You won't go far by hitting innocents.

Guys This isn't Just a game this is peoples work that gain from it money to live so they need to do this what do we do except playing all day ? and they are working devoloping new things for us but about gettig everything in shop makes every one mad ( including me ) Because Actually i dont buy  and iam sure there are other ppl not only me the only one who dont buy because i say its just a game and iam wasting money on nothing at the end So You need some control on getting everything to shop =.= ........

Most of the computer games are developed to bring money to the owners. Some of them will last decades (like Counter Strike). TO is one of my favorite games for 6 years now. And I play a lot. But the fun is decreasing through the years. "Decades" are unattainable, I think.

Hey all,

 

Listen, I know you're upset, and you've brought up some very valid points. More importantly, there's a civil and smart discussion going on. All I'm asking is that you give this update some time.

 

The idea behind it is to slow down the overall usage of supplies. At Gissmo level, players don't have anything on which to spend their crystals, and this leads to mass purchase and consumption of supplies.

 

With this update, this mass purchase should slow down. As the super-users start running out of supplies, they will be forced to use them more intelligently rather than spamming the 1-5 keys. That's the idea behind this move. It'll take some time before we start seeing these results, but I believe that's where we'll get to. Additionally, there are other plans being set in motion to regulate the hyper-use of supplies.
